Though to be fair, the pitchforks aren't out for Andersen because of a single tipped goal. It's a wider sample of debatable play.l this season.

If Campbell looks like he's having a rough go every start he gets I'm sure the critics will be fairly loud. If he plays well folks won't be saying anything

When was the last time that Andersen was in net, we gave up a goal and everyone didn't immediately blame Andersen?

That's because of the 3.65 GF average over the first 24 games, not the 2.57 GF average over the last 7 games. If we keep this 2.57 average up, we are not making the playoffs. I just can't help thinking back to 2014, this feels exactly like it.

Of course I hope they can turn it around but after 4 days of rest and playing a non-playoff tired team and not being able to score more than 3 goals doesn't give me much hope. Let's hope Campbell can get a shutout to save this poor offensive team.
its a lull, I'm not concerned about the offence.

Bonus points question: How long has it been since we had a starting goalie that the fans didn't want to run our of town?

Pretty funny that various posters have talked about how we should bring back Reimer or Bernier, just amazing stuff.

Kind of helps Calgary when Markstrom, although not good last night, was making difficult saves.

Still can’t believe some people see saves like the one on Matthews during the PP and don’t go “Gee, I wish Andersen could do that more often.”

Kerfoot centering the old man line...which j
is really the 4th line really.

Simmonds up to the 1st....though I think he and Hyman will switch freely.

Does that even matter if the next 3 goals are his fault following that?

After being consistently as bad as he's been, it's his job to change the narrative, is it not? If he lets in a goal the next game of course he's going to be ragged on. If he's playing great and winning us game, maybe then the fan base won't have to jump down his throat after letting the first goal the night after.

The fact that the Leafs haven’t had legit consistent goaltending (besides Andy in his first few years here) since an eagle flew away doesn’t change the fact that sub .900 goaltending isn’t gonna cut it.

If Andersen can post a .918 behind a top 4 of Rielly-Hainsey, Gardiner-Zaitsev, I think it's entirely reasonable to expect him to be over .900 with Rielly Brodie, Muzzin Holl as the top 4. That's completely disregarding all the metrics saying the Leafs are better defensively now than they were. Do you guys REALLY think the 16/17 or 17/18 Leafs were a tighter defensive team than the 2021 version, and that's why his save percentage is in the gutter? Really?

Eww people have said that? What next, Toskala?

I’ll tell you one thing, Cujo was mostly beloved and why? Because he made big time saves and was our saviour way more often than not. Andy? It’s the total opposite. I think his flexibility and reaction time are part of the issue, especially on the tip goals. I haven’t seen a Leaf goalie have such issues with point shots in a long long time

the leafs have dominated every game except the 2 games before the break, it just is a let down when you play 5 minutes in there zone and the first chance the other team get he scores

What fans think doesn't matter at all. The fact is though that blaming every single goal on Andersen is insane.

Allowing less shots logically should lead to allowing less goals, not a better save percentage. The key word there is percentage.

Will be interesting to see how Simmonds does with M&M.

I'd argue our fourth line here is really our third line but whatever.

This team constantly give up less than 30 shots each game. If they have average goaltending performances they would probably have five more wins at this point already.
