It’s called adversity. Deal with it and find a way.
Carolina can win a game with a Zamboni driver. How is this core, this team going to navigate the playoffs?
Even Ayers had a better SV% in that game than Andersen did last night, lmao.

So I'm playing NHL 21 doing a Seattle expansion, and noticed you don't select anybody from Vegas. Just checked Capfriendlys expansion tool and again can't take anyone from Vegas. Are they exempt from the draft? I'd understand if they sucked, but the made the final their first year and have been good every year so far.

They are exempt because they don't get any of the revenue from Seattle's expansion.

Every team gets a cut of the 650M or whatever it was, except for Vegas. So Vegas doesn't lose anyone.

You're talking about the entire team, I'm criticizing only our 4 stars who should be able to score against these non-playoff teams when we really need it. I agree that 3 goals should be enough to win and Andersen sucks and could have stolen some of those games for us but if our star boys could score like they did before these 7 games, they could have taken 5 of those games (3-1 and 4-2 losses to Nucks, 4-3 loss to Jets, 4-3 loss to Sens, 4-3 loss to Flames).

Are they really the better team and just losing to hot goaltending, it just seems that everything is going wrong for them. Their PP stinks, their PK stinks, they can't hold the lead (they were up 2-1 in a few of those losses), their goalie stinks, their defense stinks, their offense stinks. Matthews and Marner have dried up and not stealing games for us anymore. They have no injuries, they just had a 4-day rest and still lost to a tired non-playoff team.

This is so reminding of that 2014 year when they were 3rd in the league by mid-March and then lost 12 out of their next 14 games to miss the playoffs and most of those losses were close 1 or 2 goal losses. There's nothing we fans can do but just suck it up. We've changed everybody since then (except Reilly) and it's still happening.
So you want 5 goals a game every game? Sure we aren't the 80s oilers

Last 5gms:

Matthews 3gls
Nylander 2gls
Marner 2gls
Tavares 1gls

Average: 33gl pace each

That's 8 goals in 5 games, like I said before Matthews alone could do that (the way he was scoring 2 goals a game for a few games). But why cherry pick this 5 game sample, we lost 2 games to one of the worst teams in the league before that. If our stars could have scored in those games, maybe we could have won those. So those total 8 goals are not only for 5 games but for all 7 games.

Since doing what we did to the Oilers, McDrai haven't slowed down at all, and that's why the Oilers are tied with us now, sure we have 2 games in hand but what's the value of those when we are losing every game (I sure hope the Leafs can prove me wrong tonight).

The bitch of it is is that Jack can't even afford to have a bad game tonight. His first game back from injury.
Why should tonight be any different? Hutch has 1 terrible start that's it that's all he's out of here. Lol

Really ? I mean Really ? how many 100+ goal seasons has Mathews had ? give your head a shake bud it doesn't matter how many these guys score if the Goalie and the D insist on giving up more every night .

What's tough about these losses, is apart from two of them in the past 7 games, they have been playing good. Losing because your goalies aren't making saves is tough because you know there are going to be games where the team is just playing poorly and losing because of that.

Andy blew the last game but they could have tied it up late if they scored on one of their 2 late b2b powerplays. They seem to waste a lot of PP time passing the puck back before carrying it in. Looks like they lack urgency on the PPs even though they have a good PP.

Not to mention that since we've been spotting them leads game after game, they don't need to take any chances. It is a lot easier to defend when you don't need to do much to score goals.

Meanwhile we need to effectively dominate the other team to have a chance because their goalies are making huge saves and our goalie can hardly even save a weak point shot with a slight deflection.

That game should not have even been close.

Neither should have those games. We won 1 of those games, and it took an amazing OT effort from Rielly, Marner, and Matthews to do so.

Our PP needs to do better, but they were also not going to be operating at a 35% all year. We knew that, and it is not like we aren't getting great opportunities on the PP right now. Meanwhile, our PK can hardly afford to make a mistake without it going in the back of the net right now. Our PK is still playing great, just like we are still playing great at ES.

Andersen just can't do it right now. He is cooked and with the sentiment Keefe is giving off about him right now, he may be done with the Leafs if we have any choice about the matter.

I like this Keefe. Andersen has deserved every single bit of this shade.
Yup, always good to throw some shade at your starting goalie and franchise player's best friend.

Especially during a slump, it really boosts the moral in the room.

Four of those 6 losses were to non-playoff teams and 3 of those losses were to against 2 of the worst teams in the league when it comes to GAA. So we should have at least 5 goals in those games (then that's decent skid of 3 losses in 7 games but this is so embarrassing). When we were leading the Sens 5-1 in a game, the Sens not only tied the game but they won, yet when we're down 4-1 to those same Sens, we could only muster up 2 goals to lose 4-3. Where has all our offensive power disappeared to.

I love the Leafs and am a die-hard Leaf fan for over 45 years but now I'm running out of excuses for their losses, with the last excuse being they were tired when they lost to the Sens. It just seems that they aren't learning a thing from their losses.

We have a bad goalie, that is the problem everyone else is fine. But yes nobody is perfect. The skaters are fine.

Yeah, because Andersen’s play over the past two seasons and the excuses he’s made about said play have really made things better.

Wow, you really missed the point didn't you. It's ok, so did Keefe.

Picture it, you are on the Leafs. You just battled through the dirty areas, took 2 cross checks in the back, got pasted into the boards maybe even a high stick in the slot. You just spat out a tooth, but its ok, because you lifted one high glove and you are up 1-0. You try a pass to a teamate, it gets intercepted, bam, its in the net. Your goaltender just let in a goal on his 5th shot against.

How eager are you to go lose another tooth when your goaltender isnt doing his job?

I would love to know over the last 2 years how many times Andersen has made it to 10 shots before letting one in.
That will be an eye opening stat, I guarantee it.

I think in last night's broadcast they said that last night was the 10th time he has given up a goal on his first shot against in the past two years. I highly doubt anyone comes even close to that.

I can't imagine he is doing much better when it comes to making 10 saves before giving up a goal.
