They signed him because it's easier and more valuable to trade a player that's signed...Really gotta question why they even signed him to that deal

Kadri was definitely not at his best value when he was traded... He just had his 3rd straight season of declining point totals and second straight season with a suspension in the playoffs.Well it’s better then trading a really good asset like kadri at his best value for peanuts like dubie dubes did lol
Yeah I saw someone mention that yesterday, or today. Good call.Holy shit. Someone on this board literally mentioned benning earlier today . Sharks is a great team for Liljegren to go to and grow his game
Whats the cap savings on this deal?
This is better than the nothing we'd get from not arbitration signing him. It was a no brainer which is why I never got the angst, except if you thought we would have to pay to rid ourselves of him. That never happens, he has a short deal and someone would always take a chance on him. Again, it was no brainer to sign him. You could argue we should have some cases him more to start the year, but that's it.Bridging and to trade him for some value if they needed to. Pretty simple.

Is it SJ's 3rd, because that's a relatively high one?
At least he goes to a western team and isn't located in Canada.
And there goes the last of our undersized, skilled defensemen who we drafted. I think Liljegren is better than he was given credit for by the coaches, both Keefe and Berube. But if he’s not their type there’s no point holding him and letting him go to waste.
Good luck to him.
He'll be on the Marlies very soonBenning should 100% be waived to gain even more cap space.
Now lets get rid of Holmberg as well.
Absolutely atrocious drafting and development during this time.
If he somehow ended up to be a Norris candidate in the future and he is with Florida or Boston, then the Leafs would be f***ed.Not to be rude and man does this betray my faith so I will have to ask for forgiveness later, but, if the Leafs were looking to run deeper I would have welcomed him being traded to one of the teams they might meet in the playoffs.
Three or four years ago I saw some development. He was exposed repeatedly in the playoffs though. Boston in particular constantly focused on his side of the ice when he was on, he just couldn't ever meet the physical demands. T.B did the same. You can't be a healthy playoff scratch every year, it was for just cause.
One of those guys who just didn't reach the threshold needed for hard hockey and at $3M a year it was untenable.
