for a few weeks... and then? Hope someone else gets injured?

just want to know the long term plans for the team, cause I think right now we'd be running 11-7 if Timmins wasn't hurt.
Well when I said the team could carry a 21 man roster I was referring to right now. Nothing else.

As for long term I’d move Timmins. He can’t stay healthy, he is very poor defensively and unless they want to give him shifts at forward and try to make him into a 2 way player I hate the idea of playing games 11-7 with Reeves on the team. Because really it’s 10-7. And if anyone gets hurt you are down to 9 useful forwards in a game.
Seems like a great way to burn your team out long before the playoffs

Some here seem obsessed with putting a negative spin on everything, and it seems to be the opposite of spinning everything the past guy did as genius. I find it tedious.

For me, if this move lets Minten take the 3 hole, it dwarfs what Lafferty would bring. I’ll add, I was really disappointed with his ”jam” yesterday, he knew he was being talked about and he came out like he had a spot sewn up. His camp was so meh, and I stood up for him last year when Lafferty was routinely trashed here.

Agreed. I thiink the ones that accused people of wanting Kyle to fail, mosy likely want Brad to fail.

The first part of your post goes both ways. There are people who won’t give Dubas credit for anything he did no matter what.
And the same happens with Tre.
People take sides and will do anything to twist the argument to defend that side.

It sucks but it’s the internet, it’s never going to change.

This is the first bad move Tre has made imo. Really good depth guy for playoffs. No chance Minten provides value come playoff time but Lafferty definitely could have. I would honestly rather have Lafferty than Jarnkrok come playoff time. Laffertys speed and physicality are really good assets and he actually has a bit of skill as well. I really dont get the move.

No chance? That’s laughable.

Seems a little thin for a decent forward. Fast and good defensively. I figured at least a 3rd.

I think people just want the best team.

Holmberg > Minten also, so hopefully he comes in after Minten's 9 games.

We are not icing the best team possible because we dealt Lafferty instead of Reaves.

Lafferty was not being utilized amazingly here anyway, so it isn't a huge loss, but it is a loss to keep Reaves instead of better players.

I stopped reading there. He was very good defensively. And how would you know anyway? From watching his cup of coffee in the show?

Tried to tell you all that Lafferty was done here in TO. This was inevitable without another unexpected LTIR injury in camp.

He wasn't noticeably better than an Aube-Kubel, Aston-Reese or an incoming Gregor. I think they probably brought him in to be a speedy Engvall/Mikheyev type closer to the third line but seemed to be more of a 4th liner.

I'd also expect Lafferty to have a bigger role in Vancouver and could see him flipped for a slightly higher pick come deadline day.

I think Lafferty moving forward is capable of being a much better caliber player than those guys but he didn't seem to find much chemistry here; no whether that had to do with linemates or coaching, who knows.

Though at the end of the day it's nothing to be upset about

your opinion of players does not speak for all the people on this forum, you say Holmberg is better than Minten, and Reaves sucks every post does not make it true

We just gotta get rid of the worst coach in the league. You could pluck a 7 year old kid from the stands and that kid could get the same results running this team full of stars as Keefe could.

Reaves sucks by every metric.

Can you name one where he doesn't?

Your opinion is liked by the usual bunch who seems like they started watching hockey in the 70's and think it is the same game now.

Coach was singing his praises.

I’m not saying he amounts too much, but it’s a minor signing, he can be buried, the term is meaningless and perhaps it works out. You continually act like it’s the biggest deal we’ve made, relax Jonas.

Reaves taking up minutes is not good for our team, so I'll continue to voice that it sucks that we signed a 36 year old who no one other team wants to a 3 year deal above the buriable amount and we likely have no desire to bury him.

So we will pay his full salary and he will take a roster spot.

I am very relaxed, the Leafs are a form of entertainment for me, it is not my life like it seems it is for many here, but thank you for your concern.

Calling me something like "Jonas" is not an insult... it just means you think I am a brighter mind than you at the very least.

he might bring more than what some metric spread sheet has to say, more to hockey than them, you might think he sucks and post it over and over again, but again you dont speak for everyone in this forum.

Never claimed I did.

You decided that I did.

I don't think that he sucks, he does, not even sure if this is an opinion, I think it is just fact.

Why do I keep reading Lafferty is physical? He played 28 games here including playoffs and he never was physical in any noticeable way.

Sam has chucked 'em a few times over his career and once during his time here, compared to a lot of the bottom 6 talent we've had over the years he may as well have been Colton Orr. However he wasn't as physical as I'd have liked otherwise. He was closer to Blackwell than Acciari in terms of impact.
