This is the first bad move Tre has made imo. Really good depth guy for playoffs. No chance Minten provides value come playoff time but Lafferty definitely could have. I would honestly rather have Lafferty than Jarnkrok come playoff time. Laffertys speed and physicality are really good assets and he actually has a bit of skill as well. I really dont get the move.
Considering that Lafferty didn't even crack the playoffs lineup last year as Keefe would rather go 11/7. Goes to show what Keefe thinks of Lafferty.

Sam has chucked 'em a few times over his career and once during his time here, compared to a lot of the bottom 6 talent we've had over the years he may as well have been Colton Orr. However he wasn't as physical as I'd have liked otherwise. He was closer to Blackwell than Acciari in terms of impact.

Agreed 100%. And Blackwell was useless as well. Acciari was a physical bottom 6 forward, Lafferty isn't IMO.

I don't doubt that Lafferty would've eventually found a niche here if he'd remained, but it's not like we're losing a world-beater here. As far as our TDL acquisitions went last year he was the one with the least amount of impact. Gregor could fill Lafferty's role for cheaper and betting on Minten having an impact over Lafferty isn't all that ill-advised.

Why do I keep reading Lafferty is physical? He played 28 games here including playoffs and he never was physical in any noticeable way.
He definitely played with some jam, I'm not sure why everyone seems to be forgetting how he was legitimately one of our best players against Florida. Him and Kampf outperformed most of the big guns especially at 5v5.

Reaves will play a role. Just like he has done for the past 12+ seasons.
Pretty sure Treliving knows a thing or two about team building and this team was way too soft.

He knows as much or less than whatever you think our former GM knows... he's succeeded just as much... except it looks like the team he just left has their window closed thanks to him signing over-the-hill players.

Trading a 20 goal scorer is generally a bad idea
Do you know how many 20 goal scorers we've moved out in the last 5 years?

Also, the plan would be to move out a no-show playoff performer and bulster the D to reduce the goals against by Jarnkrok's contributions.

Thankyou Dubas.
Might want to count the 2025 picks before you congratulate someone.

With all due respect, wouldn't the return for him be a lot greater than a 5th round pick?

The next Leafs Report Podcast is going to be filled with tons of salt. Jonas was already in histrionics about Reaves' contract before this deal, and his latest article lamenting this trade brings him up early and often.
