How easy is it supposed to be to beat a team like Tampa? It seems like there's always a new arbitrary bar that certain fans have before they can say the Leafs had a good performance

Actually nothing new. It's much of the same actually. The PP would be a good place to start. Less perimeter play would be another. I've praised the Leafs plenty in the past. I still believe they are a misconstructed team that isn't imho, built for the playoffs. Do I need to slather praise all over 1 win early in the regular season? As a life long Leafs fan am I not allowed my cynicism? I said I wouldn't get excited for the reg season, and I'm not.

If TB is supposed to be a top-level team, and the Leafs can play that game against them...then isn't it fair to presume that things are looking quasi-positive for the Leafs right now? Heck, not everyone was A+ tonight, and I can't drop Ritchie fast enough in my keeper league, but on the whole, the team won the game when it looked like we wouldn't.

I know we generally find reasons to be...um, pessimistic...but tonight, everyone worked hard, Campbell was awesome, our top guys came through in the end, and that is what we want! We deserved to win as much as TB did, which means we don't entirely suck.

Go Leafs Go!
Dude, ain't no room for positivity around here. Take that shit elsewhere.

It's possible to simultaneously believe that Freddy completely shit the bed for us last year (not our D's fault) and he rebuilt himself very well for Carolina this year, despite some of the things you read around here.

Who cares about him at this point anyway - Jack is a stud and he loves playing for us.

Take a number pal.

I’m the one who changed the channel after the 2nd period to break the crappy play, and look what happened.

You always have to change the channel when your team is playing badly and then put right back…..

…… just like you never change the channel when your team is doing well and winning.

That’s worth at least a game star…..
I also said "next goal wins" at the start of the 3rd in the GDT. Gold star for me, baby!

Glad they won but they still made it much harder than it needed to be. Team is still soft as Charmin.
Oh, for Pete's sake.

Maybe we weren't watching the same game.

I saw a tough, disciplined Leafs team defeat the two-time Stanley Cup champions with both teams on a three-game win streak.

Which planet were you on?

If it's anything like the game they played against Detroit today, we can expect Boston to spend half the game on the power play.
Well if history has taught us anything it's that no matter how we play, the game against Boston will be called that way. Might as well at least earn em.

It doesn't have much meaning until they prove it in the playoffs. We're all aware of that. Sucks but the team did it to themselves.

Another great game by everybody tonight. Even Ritchie was 100 times better than he's been lately. Simmonds seems to have quite a jump in his step this year. Only 2 real negatives I could see was shooting into shin pads and Muzzin caught behind the opposition net on the Maroon goal. He really needs to stop pinching, or at least make sure he's covered.

Terrific game by the team. Every line dug deep. Great d-game by Lily, Brodie and Sandin. Campbell played his best game as a Leaf.

Simmonds needs to mark Saturday down. Boston’s gonna be dirty, we can’t be pushed around over and over again. Take the fight to them

Big win, of course I have swim lessons for what seems like a Beauty game.

They played great defence in the 2nd period and the chances TB got in the 3rd was mainly bc they were pushing to tie the game.

I'll disagree. Defence isn't only something you do against the rush. I am fine that they were pushing, but there is no reason to give up as many 5 star chances as they did... you can push while still keeping some responsibility in your game. Thankfully Jack was up to the challenge... but that is not a model for extended success.

Regardless, it was hella-exciting and fun to watch. I think it was a good win, as this team is now winning games in completly different ways which is something that is sorely needed. Also, great that the big guns continue to lead the way. Simmonds was unlucky but played his part imo. I really liked what I saw from Rielly, Sandin and Lily. Jack was the difference in the end.

Sorry, brother...just got caught up in the excitement. =)
It's ok, just don't let it happen again. Now repeat after me:
We are the worst.
We will never win.
Every other player on every other team is better.
Advanced stats suck.
JT/AM/MM/WN/MR equal new Muskoka Five.
Man I wish we had a solid defenseman who never makes mistakes like Hedman on our Blueline.

I'm sure there are more that I am missing but you can start with those.
