Glad they won but they still made it much harder than it needed to be. Team is still soft as Charmin.

If they go after Sergachev in a one goal game and give them some PP time, it most likely ends up 5-0 for TB.

I’m the one who changed the channel after the 2nd period to break the crappy play, and look what happened.

You always have to change the channel when your team is playing badly and then put right back…..

…… just like you never change the channel when your team is doing well and winning.

That’s worth at least a game star…..

Changing or not changing the channel is easy. Delaying a trip to the bathroom when the Leafs are playing well can be painful.

Oh no. When I say the Leafs stole/snuck out the win, I'm not saying Tampa deserved it more, just that they are perfectly comfortable strangling an opponent in a 1-0 game aka successfully parking the bus. (Rewind to Game 7 vs the Islanders). So from their iron grip we snatched away the victory.

Worth noting they're down their primary checking line from those cup wins and arguably their best players in Kuch.

This isn't THAT Tampa team, even if they are still elite. Vas was challenged more than ideal given Matthews and Marner largely mailed it in tonight

Nothing suggests they didn't deserve that win. That is pure baloney and wrong. This game was not just Campbell.

I think Campbell deserves the vast majority of the credit he made about 5 game saving stops in the final 5 minutes.

I give credit where it's due and tonight about 90% of it belongs to Campbell

Travis Dermott has the tools to be a good top four, but he roams around way too much. He should be paired with a brodie or muzzin type, not another puck mover like Rielly.

Not sure what he was thinking on the Point breakaway. Rielly in deep and Dermott decides to join him? Either that or Point was cherry-picking.

And what about the 5-6 game savings stops Vasilevski did in the 2nd period? He made similar big saves on the door step. Even in the 3rd he made some big glove saves to give them the push back. He was 30 seconds away from stealing 2 points himself.

Campbell was great though. But I think you're not remembering how this game went or how well the Leafs played infront of Campbell for a good part of the game.

I don't get why fans can't enjoy a win. Everyone says we are to run and gun/high flying offense. We win a tight checking game against the defending champions and people still bitch.

This fanbase sucks.

Sometimes, yeah I agree. Funny it was ok that Vasi was playing shutout hockey for 59 minutes, Tampa was still good.

Good win. Don't have to be perfect every period,mevery game to be a winning team. Sure glad Willie came ready for the season. The only one unhappy tonight us Mitches love. She will have nightmares for 2 weeks.
If we have success against the Bruins it goes a long way to see how the new guys can gain a foothold and fix the culture.

maybe i'm more pessimistic but I don't see this as a "statement game". We were lucky to not be down by 2 or 3 with how Campbell played. Good morale boosting win though.

The same thing can be said about Tampa Bay after the second period. Vasilevsky was unbelievable tonight.

5 elimination games Vasi won with shutouts. That puts into perspective
Tempa is a great team, without Vasi they are an average team

By that account he should win the MVP every year

Kase and Kampf have really added some playoff/regular season ingredients to this team... Same for Bunting.

Sandin and my favourite viking, wow, what chemistry....So nice to see two guys sooooo unfairly compared to each other, being paired together....

Man they got some skills....

Dubas locked up hall of fame guys on the cheap pre covid and then covid struck, really changed his whole strategy for a period of time and of course, almost all of leafnation dumped on him..

I didn't say anything but privately, inwardly I was upset as well...

But he has been quietly building something interesting here.

And he signed spezza for two years in a row, for a poverty pack....

Spezza looks incredible out there, flying around, incredible playmaking and big slappers that handcuff goalies all over the league...

Team looks like its having fun...

Which planet were you on?

The same one I've been on, always. A few regular season games doesn't change 5 years of futility from this core. Furthermore if you read between the lines, what I'm saying is, if they played with more fire for at least 40 mins of that game, there is no overtime.

I don't get it. Should I just flip my opinion of the team because they won one regular season game? I thought they played well in spurts. I thought the pp was atrocious. I didn't think they put enough traffic in front of the net against a notoriously stingy goalie. But they still won. A very skilled team but soft. As I said, glad they won but if they did the things I thought they didn't, I feel they would have made it much easier on themselves. What exactly is wrong with that statement?

For me, it's all about style points with this team in the regular season now. In that, I'm not so much concerned with the end results of each game. It's how they got there that I'm most interested in. That's what this season is about for me.
