I wasn't referencing that at all. I meant just do the dirty work around the crease. Crash the net more. Stop trying to pass it around looking for the perfect shot all the time.
Oh, that 5 on 3 was something else. Slow pass, bobble, pirhouette, shot off leg, rinse and repeat.

But they figured out a way, and pulled it off.

Worth noting they're down their primary checking line from those cup wins and arguably their best players in Kuch.

This isn't THAT Tampa team, even if they are still elite. Vas was challenged more than ideal given Matthews and Marner largely mailed it in tonight

Blasphemy!! How dare you temper your excitement! Boo. Hiss.

Which is all I'm saying. Happy for the victory but they still need to show me more. Is that so wrong? Is it, really?

Here's the thing guys and gals: if this team is going to do any damage, ever, in the playoffs, they need to start to play different offensively then they have up until now.

And that means more greasy play. And it needs to start now. They won't be able to just turn it on in the playoffs, and I'm pretty sure most of you know this.

Campbell did make some game saving saves, but the same could be said of Vasilevskiy.
Vasi is a fantastic goalie and a key reason for the success of Tampa. Best goalie in the league for my money.

Was nice to get a few by him tonight.

Very hard to get any impression at all that you were in any way happy by reading your posts, just saying. Might wanna reread them before hitting post if that was truly the case.

But glad you are happy, it was a character builder of a win. They kept coming and didn't give up. Epic goalie duel. Might wanna look for bright spots.

What's wrong with this team?

Matthews isn't shooting anymore. It seems like we need 50+ grade A chances to score one goal. How many 2 on 1's/breakaways did we have this game? 10?

Tampa didn't have a shot for 20 minutes! 20 minutes, and it went to OT. It's great we won, but this should have been a 5-1 win in regulation. Everyone seems so snakebitten.

They were both great tonight. Defending Cup champs played a good game, and so did we.... We managed to pull it out in the end, entertaining game, good win.

Really nice games by Sandin and Liljegren tonight too... that toe drag was something else by Sandin.

No but there is a time and a place for everything. Enjoying the moment is also very beneficial.

Wish I could, I really do. In fact I usually stay out of PGT when there's a loss. It's too much negativity that I'd really not waste my time with. But yeah, I'm still not there yet with this team.

Nice win, didnt get to watch but lurked in here and read up on the usual suspects losing their minds down 1-0. I guess some just dont know there are 3 periods in hockey and do the usual give up 10 mins into the 2nd.

Both goalies were outstanding tonight. Soupy looked as good as a Vezina winner. It was a pretty split game and I'm not sure about that OT penalty but whatever, we get f***ed more times than we dont, so I won't complain. Nice to see the big boys show up late after that horrendous 5 vs 3.

By the way, second in the division in points. Ok... we've played more than Tampa and Boston (and Buffalo though I don't really consider them contenders outside of their hot start)... but for as bad as that cold streak was... we are right in it.

Yeah, you're right. They're not that Tampa team... I'm not necessarily awarding the Leafs huge style points for getting it donetonight but on a momentum building level they did find a way to break through offensively (which they didn't in the playoffs in close games) and it's still Tampa. So if they're building confidence, getting it done somehow, banking wins, it's positive.
I absolutely have no idea why it's so vitally important for some to discredit Leaf wins for some reason. Probably thinking it makes them look smarter.

Spoiler alert. It's the opposite.

Does anyone think any other team's fans said garbage like this when Matthews was out the first 3 games?

Campbell was awesome in the 3rd but Vasy was equally as good all game long. Leafs deserved this one. Great win. Lily solid again

I mean it's a game against the back to back Cup champs .. even with some lost depth that's a tough matchup .. Going to need some good goaltending and good effort but I wouldn't expect Tampa to fold easily.

Nice to see they won. After a slow start (albeit) without Matthews, they are starting to find some rhythm.
