I hear Kuraly and bruins have verbally agreed at/near 1.5M for 3 years
At 5M for Coleman and Barclay longer term then 6M left for 5 guys with Seattle taking Dermy
But Coleman Kerfoot Barclay would be a sweet 3rd line for us best one in many many years

Bruins get Kuraly for 1.5x3 and we get 65 1.65x2.

Looking at some of the pure 3C's available, if we come through the ED and still have Kerfoot it wouldn't surprise me to see him given a semi-permanent shot in the top 6 at LW.

I thought Kerfoot really brought it in the playoffs, truly played his best hockey as a Leaf.

at 1.5-1.6M salary for the next 2 years, he's gonna have some great trade value.

I also wouldn't really want him in the top 6, especially on a line with Marner, that's 2 guys on wing with no real shot threat.

I'd put him opposite Nylander. Good chemistry with Willie, speed on the forecheck, the passing ability to get him and either shooting C the puck.

The 900k means is he goes on LTIR (which he probably does at some point) we can call up any guy in the system (other than Amirov).

He was no longer the "premium depth signing" he was last year, but he's reliable defensively, and at his new salary doesn't need to score (he'll still get one here and there.)

On the right line he could be really effective. Ideally a forecheck/cycle line that pays shut down by keeping the puck at the other end of the ice.

Fair point. Can't imagine Seattle selects Simmonds (or Spezza) though with younger and potentially longer term options available.
Agreed. Guess I don’t see what the urgency was to get this done now l.

Likely answer- we want some things done in advance of UFA so we know *exactly* what our situation is to hunt for 2-3 pieces

Into the weeds answer- dominooeees, need players that meet exposure requirements under contract to make trades (Kerfoot/Engvall) prior to the draft

Great signing, Dubas is so awesome. No other GM could have talked Simmonds to coming back to this disaster, especially at that bargain price. According to my calculations, this signing is worth .03 expected cups, give or take.
Sweet!
Now if Spezza can keep up his pace from this playoff we should be pushing .04, maybe even .05!

to be completely honest, I was sort of hoping to never see him play for the Leafs again. Paying more than league minimum and giving more than 1 year to a guy who didn't even look like he belonged in the lineup for most of the year just doesn't make any sense. It would be hard to not be able to find a better contributor than him for that price

And they didn't pull him or Joe out of the lineup once. The same will continue I suspect.
Just like MM will be back on PP 1

He was a difference maker for about 5 games last year and then he got hurt for the millionth time. He's largely damaged goods, but I'm hoping his lack of physicality in the playoffs was due to his injuries and not his mental makeup. At least he's not afraid to fight back
