Confirmed with Link: Leafs sign RHD John Klingberg (1 year, $4.15M) | UPD 11/23: LTIR

He looks small in the net too.

Didn't get to watch the game ... well chose to delete it before watching ... but sounds like the Panthers just have better defensemen as they only allowed one goal and it was on the PP.

Combined cap hit of 10.2M.

Well, goaltending was the difference in the game as we out-chanced the Panthers, so maybe what we should do is spend 15 million in the net.
Having the advantage in chances is truly meaningful once enough of them have been converted upon. I'd view that inability as being the ultimate difference maker in this game.

Florida made Toronto fight for each and every possession in the Florida zone, when Toronto had the puck, Florida forced the Leafs to make quick decisions, much the same they did in the playoffs. Toronto is supposed to be a quick transition team, move the puck up the ice quickly, this was supposed to be Klingbergs speciality, move the puck quickly and shoot the puck on net, he sure as shit is not that guy, they really aren't that quick puck moving team, you see them slowly think about what they are going to do, trying to force a play to work vs take what is given to you. Deception is the name of the game in pro sports, there is not a lot of deception in Toronto's game right now. There is a lot of predictability. Same coach, same results.

Watching Knies, Bertuzzi, Minten, Domi, Klingberg continually cough up the puck, it is freaking painful. You dont need to be the hero when you got 88, 16, 34 and 91 on your team. So the plan is to simplify your game plan, if you have the puck dont lose it and get it to 88, 16, 34, 91, if you dont have the puck go to the net and take some defenders with you, if you are Klingberg fake a season ending injury. Bert looks absolutely like dog shit out there.

Bunting - 5 games, 4 points, 2 PIM, $4.500.000.
Bertuzzi - 4 games, 1 point, 10 PIM, $5,500,000.

You get only 1 chance at a first impression. Klingbergs chance has passed...it was a terrible impression.

The stuff Klingberg does is ECHL level hockey smarts, Last night there were Three Leafs in the corner, Klingberg can hopefully can count 1, 2, 3 there are only 2 dman on the ice at any given time, a rock could figure out 3-2 is 1. That 1 has to be a forward, a quick check would tell him it was his winger that is normally along that half board, Kingberg pokes the puck to the spot where the forward, who is currently less than a foot away from him, should be, the guy who should be along the half board is in a board battle because Kingberg is late reading the play. It ends up in our net because Shitberg cant read a f-ing play.

Disappointed with how he can have very low IQ moments on these split second decisions. He's clearly a player who will have to generate high volume offense to offset his brain farts.

Klingberg is fine in limited minutes and sheltered situations (like the power play). But, no, you can't have him on the ice in the last minute of a game when protecting a lead. He is what he is.

Offensively he's actually been better than I expected. I expected a less mobile Tyson Barrie. Defensively he sucks but that's kind of what we all expected. This team's issue last year was breaking out of the zone and getting the puck in transition fast. Klingberg helps with that. I do think he's overpaid though.

You're not going to find many two way dmen on the free agent market, you have to draft them. Treliving does at least have a history of that.

I think a lot of people wrote him off before he even stepped on the ice, so I won't be surprised if he's the whipping boy all year.

We needed more offence from our D, and he's giving us that. There weren't many options, and getting him on a 1 year deal is a very shrewd move.

Nor would I expect a 4m/year player who plays on the PP to also be a guy who you want on for the last shift.

Guys that like don't make 4m.
