What are you talking about... Keefe should be gone,, Dubas has done everything to put a good team on the ice... its up to the players... now the players cant do it so its up to Dubas to change the core 4.

Name a GM who would be better that is available? please go ahead.
I'm very uneasy about the name someone better argument. I imagine it failing miserably in a performance review.
"Listen, what you been doing hasn't been good enough."
"Can you name someone who'd do a better job?"
"I wouldn't worry about that, our search starts now."

So its the coaches fault, the GM's fault, the Presidents fault, the fans fault but the players, who are whinny babies.. not their fault. You could have ANYONE HERE and the same shit on the ice happens with these players. Its on the coach and players.

I would say Dubas made big mistakes negotiating contracts but has performed well in other aspects (trades and FA finds) to do the best with the situation he put himself in. Not every trade or signing was good but no gm can say that.
Keefe made big mistakes in preparation and execution and has to go after failing again with a winning roster. His mistakes were glaring, this year, within the past few weeks and now we're out.
Shanahan made the mistake of hiring a rookie gm to negotiate those contracts and having him hire a rookie coach to try to succeed with those contracts.

If you're wondering if I think Dubas should go, I'm on the fence but leaning towards him staying. I just think you're making a lazy bad "in your face" argument that I don't think holds water.

Its Dubas that kept rolling Keefe back after each failure. How does he get a pass unless Shanny bullied him into keeping Keefe? His goalie solution was the Faberge egg Murray.so they got rolled Florida. And wasn't it really up to him to recognize the core four weren't going to work before the fifth time around? You can either say Dubas gave his group multiple opportunities to succeed, or say that he kept rolling the the same failed model out year after year without recognizing he was on the wrong path.It was up to him to change the core a couple of years ago.

What if he makes good trades and send JT away for Wilson and Mantha?

there is "zero" chance that dubas is going to do anything that is going to benefit the team. if he wanted he would have done it after the habs series.

he is invested in the so called core4; he has handed out NMCs.

He is once again going to open a blank cheque to all of matthews, marner and nylander and we are going to go back to square one even when JT's contract expires.

He also strategically set up the contracts for matthews, nylander and marner to help his own contract negotiation. It can't be pure co-incidence. That is not a healthy way to run the organization IMO.

So I believe I saw Lebrun speculate that Dubas extension is likely and that a Matthews extension is likely the priority afterwards...

My thoughts:

I'm okay with extending Dubas, I felt he did everything he could have to make this team a cup contender, the players and Keefe let him down.

If Dubas is extended, he absolutely needs to know that on July 1st, he is announcing an Auston Matthews extension and if there is any doubt, I would be trading Matthews at the draft. 2nd overall with Anaheim, take Fantilli and go from there?

I think I saw online some debate between trading Marner or Nylander but the reality is, the name that should be discussed is Tavares. Rather than bog this down, I know he is a local guy and has a NMC, an absolute ton of players have been moved over the years that everyone said couldn't be moved due to various circumstances.

You cannot run back the core 4

The team is actually slow, it's very skilled but slow. We got beaten to all loose pucks or on retrievals.

I still don't love the compete level but I would bring back the majority of the UFAs, especially the additions at the deadline.

Murray needs to vanish.

My own thoughts are that our forward groups need to throw different looks at the opposition, similar to a pitching line up and ROR brought a grinding type of game which was nice but we need more elements.

I think Kampf prices himself out returning

I would be open to trading Brodie if he wasn't playing through anything serious in the playoffs.

X-Matthews-Nylander
Knies-X-Marner
Jarnkrok-ROR-Lafferty
X-X-Acciari
Holmberg

Rielly-Schenn
McCabe-Brodie
X-Liljegren
Giordano

Maybe someone like Mikkola or Zadorov?

Samsonov
Woll

I'm not the GM though but that's what I would like to see.

After the series win, I am a little more invested in the team but trying to be very grounded in what I saw.

Rumor: I think Matthews is injured and depressed and he's not re-signing and must be dealt before July 1, 2023. He wants to go home to be closer to his parents and Beebs.

I think the change could be good for him.

Let me ask you this: was Dubas an upgrade to Lou Lamoriello 5 years ago?

If you weren't afraid of change then, then why are you afraid of change now?

Even with Dubas filling big shoes like Lou you didn't have a problem right?
Wasn't really the same situation. Everyone knew he wasn't gonna be the GM long and was only in that position while we picked decided between Hunter and Dubas pretty much. Lou was expected to stay in the org in some position but got offered a GM spot and decided to take it for his last run. So I don't really care about change, but Dubas has shown he's learned from his mistakes when it comes to building a team for playoffs
