I'm sorry about being so pointed. Like many people in the modern world, it's just that I'm really stressed right now. You of all people should be empathetic of that. This has felt very therapeutic to get out of my system. I'm sure you must understand that.
You need to go away for awhile and talk to your wife and family?

As far as I can tell with all these fake rumours is that we really don’t have any updates yet. Glad for once the Leafs are keeping their process internal without bugs to leak shit to media.

I’m sure it has been extremely difficult for Dubas and his family, but part of me sees this as a way to complain about having to work his year without a contract. It’s hard on every family, in every organization, in every sport, every year. Has an air of victimization to it, which I find really off putting to be honest.

Im still in favour of bringing him back, but to me he played a “card” there.

Nothing will happen to the team until mgmt is decided.
That said, this is interesting
Apparently Shanny has been doing a lot of actual business instead of hockey ops, what the hell experience does Spezza have rnning any business ops, let's be honest. Obviously Shanny didn't have a ton prior to becoming Prez but he at least had roles with NHL and by now after several years does have business ops experience.
I'm a huge fan of Spez from the BJs series and his fight, but there's no way this organization can have yet another inexperienced person learn on the job.

Everyone loves Spezza, but I don’t know why we assume he’s effective in the front office. Players don’t always translate well, look at Shanny ;)

Step 1: What you can do is strip JT of the Captaincy, that has to be the first step. The team mimics his meek mild behavior. Meek and mild is not what you want in hockey. Who the better fit is as "C" , I don't know, I'm not in the locker room. The C is mostly symbolic but its also symbolic to strip a guy of his captaincy. It does send a message to the team.

That's Rielly

This is getting ridiculous. If I was the employer under such time sensitive circumstances, I would have set a hard deadline of 48-72 hours for a response.

Kyle, either shit or get off the pot.
Exactly. If it's a serious issue how is he just going to be fine in a week or so? The pressure is only going to mount. I still think he doesn't want to fire Keefe in which case he should be let go anyway

... and you would put up a huge barrier to attracting quality talent, who would want to work in that sort of environment. "Hey me and the wife are having problems" ... "YOU'RE FIRRRRRRRED !!!"

Before I took over my current department, the prior Director had a philosophy that the company owned you, in his mind his employees were the equlivent to human cattle, he did not respect the right to have an uninterrupted vacation, respect stat holidays, days of rest, 8 hour work day, home life balance, I have my suspicions but have no proof that he broke the labor code, more than once, he had an ever revolving door of talent and had performance issues with the people who remained, because of the high turnover, he had issues establishing good processes and practice's, the business unit was a mess. Sick leave and sick time were exorbitantly high, It was 100% because he did not respect the fact that the names that worked for him, were humans, with human issues, human problems, human emotions and were most importantly people. That mess of a business unit, I now run, based on company surveys, now has the highest rated employee morale, those scores have increased every year since I took over, customer sat surveys have improved on the same trajectory as the employee ratings, my departments costs are down, revenues are up. Mostly because I recognized the fact the people who work for me are not pieces of meat, who are easily disposable because they have home life challenges. This allows me to retain good talent, establish good business processes and practice's, there is a sense of a well oiled machine, TBH I could now take a couple of months off and come back and know the people there give a shit enough to make sure it does not falter. That is what you get when you respect home life boundaries and don't fire/ let people go people because they have family/home life issues.

One question on the employees survey, is "would you recommend this company to a friend or family to work at?" My department has the highest score in the company. I attract the best talent because I respect the talent I currently have. Morale of the story is you treat people like dirt, the results you get will be dirt. treat people with respect/dignity and they will mostly surprise you and make your department the best performing department in the company. Not allowing Dubas to work through his marital problems, is to say the least callous. Any self respecting person, wouldn't want to work for a company that had your attitude.
All valid & commendable points without doubt. What if Dubas's charade is not what he says but a standoff so he can get his way...ie..keep Keefe & or his core, or more $? Its at the point where I dont trust mainstream news, weather reports or anything out of mlse (especially when they own the news stations as well).

Correct....his $4 mil/year (rumoured) should help a lot in the family friction. Most wish they had that problem....

I’m checking this website 4 times a day to see if Keefe has been fired yet and what the decision on Dubas is. Clock is ticking and they need to know who’s talking to Matthews. Time to get the vision for this team sorted.

I wouldn't discount it but it would be a pretty shitty thing to do to use your marriage as a leverage point to get your way at work. Everything we know about Dubas is he an ethical man, I can't see him doing that but not being on the inside and looking at the situation from 10.000 ft , anything is possible.

I dont think this will take long, the new management's need time for the draft. If Shanny and dubas leaving they better pull the trigger soon.... I think they are staying though. Keefe is the only goner

As stated earlier, if there were an extension offer and he did the "I need to think about it" power play, that offer should have expired by now. You can't get hung over a barrel by anyone, no matter who they are, especially at a time that the business is about to forge a new direction. If I'm Dubas' superiors I'd keep a poker face while gently pressing for a decision even after I've already changed my mind. Then if he answers in the affirmative like today, I'd inform him that the offer expired and the team will be going in a new direction. Or if Dubas just tries to string this out longer, I'd just go through the process of replacing Dubas quietly maybe even hire the new guy all while Dubas is making his decision.

I've worked around people & money & people with lots of it. You'd be surprised how their true character surfaces when $ is involved...an eye opening experience....some will lie, cheat & worse...Dubas is at heart a politician...just like Shanny ( Chelios affirmed it)....who lies & cheats more than politicians?

We can and we will!!

There's one thing about this assumed situation that doesn't reflect poorly on Dubas. Dubas has stated that it's between staying with the team or stepping away all together. With that element, it doesn't put MLSE in the position of a villain if they are actively interviewing replacements for Dubas because MLSE would not be standing in Dubas' way from seeking a new position elsewhere as Dubas states he will not be seeking another position in the league.
