Leafs need to address the goaltending.

You think the Maple Leafs regularly icing up to five players that are making under a million is a good idea for assembling a championship calibre roster?

Vegas currently has 7. are they not championship calibre?
Colorado has 9
Carolina has 5
Boston 6
NYR 9
Canucks 5
Dallas 6

yes I believe you can have a solid 4th line where everyone makes under a million. plus a good rookie and a vet Dmen making under 1 million and be competitive

One, signing Klingberg but loosing Schenn isn't fixing our defense. Domi and Bertuzzi will never get what we paid again. Reeves is a bust. He tried but he overpaid on every count. You don't just replace O Reilly, Accari and Schenn. We all expected better. Not one signing was a win for us. In fact we digressed.
It seems to be like you're desperately trying to convince yourself that this is a great team just be held up by shit goaltending.

Goaltending hasn't been good enough. Defense isn't good enough. Pk is shit. Keefe kept Kampf on the 3rd line for too long. Reaves buggered up the 4th line.

I think Brad didn't do as great a job as you thought lol.

You can question who was brought in but I wouldn't fault him for any of those leaving.

Domi is average with no goals. Gregor I didn't include. Wow so the 750k guy is our best signing. Figures.
Domi and Gregor seem to be doing well

And it's Robertson making Domi look good. A 3rd line center on pace for what 5 goals!? Disaster come playoffs.

Yeah when you put it like that, Tre's off-season doesn't look altogether impressive.

He needs to score more himself for sure.
I never liked the signing myself but he seems to be contributing now to a decent line.

Samsonov looks like he's settling in but Brick Woll has turned into Cardboard Woll of late.

Samsonov has had a couple good games but his save% is still WELL below where it needs to be.

Woll won today but we can't be needing the offense to score 4 or more for him every night.

It is a big problem. Neither guy will get the job done.
Is Aiden Hill better than either of them? The game has changed. Having a dominant goalie is no longer a prerequisite to winning. Toronto's goaltending is perfectly fine. It's the defense that needs a couple of upgrades.

It is, but that's the point, even when he has a game where you think he played well, they still needed 4 to win.

And needed to score a minimum of 4 consistently for him is an issue

Like, this is getting to be funny. We give up 33 shots with 10 Medium Danger Shots, and 3 High Danger shots... the expected goal against is 3.123.... and he let's in 3. Meanwhile, we get 3 Medium Danger shots, and 1 High Danger shot.....

Did you watch this game. Did you not see the team's lazy effort, and basically Woll bailed us out here... and Willy did in OT too. If your hope is that some magical goalie, is going to be able to rescue lazy play, and poor defensive play, you are sadly mistaken.

Time and again, hot takes that are bad. We didn't deserve to win yesterday morning, and we did. Woll was a big reason the game was close... we got lucky there.

One big difference is on breakaways, Woll can be trusted whereas Samsonov cannot. Woll was great in that shootout vs. Calgary and stopped Kaprizov in all alone. Samsonov's most recent shootout (I think Boston?) and the penalty shot vs the Wings.... Did not look good. Now I'm not expecting a goalie to stop breakaways like crazy. 50% of the time would be great. But Samsonov is feeling like he's around 15% and Woll feels like 75%.

Not the goalies fault when he posts a .917 and still allows 3. He doesn't play defense.

Small sample and he still posted .928 elite playoff goaltending. That is pretty dominant.
