Dubas really screwed this team up, he overpaid matthews and marner to start. He gave taveras that minstoucity contract and he should have traded Reilly. If your highest paid d man can’t play and be effective on the power play you won’t be winning any cups. Because of reilly’s inept pp prowess, klingberg was brought in. This team is so poorly constructed treliving tried his best to fill holes but maybe buying name brand (domi klingberg etc) wasn’t the way to go and maybe no name (van reimsdyke and lucic) was a better option. Would have saved money on the cap to

Exactly and this is why I laugh when I see the usual Dubasite suspects coming in here and shitting on Treliving after the last 2 losses. The fact that they don’t see what you said and realize the mess Dubas made here is astonishing. lol.

That doesnt really have anything to do with the fact that Treliving had a pretty poor offseason.

At least Mitch scored! He tends to get on these long streaks, which could be a confidence booster.

I know it's way too soon to check the standings, but still, Ottawa should know their place, they look weird so high.

This team performed the exact same last night as the team that lost to Florida in the playoffs.

Not a good sign when pretty much every player except the goalie looks bad. Even then Samsonov has to shoulder his fair share. I mean, c'mon, they're paying this guy all that money and he couldn't even score a goal.

No need to miss Justin Holl anymore.

It looked like there were six of him out there. I think Holl was so bad that Leafs fans aren't even sure what a borderline NHL defenseman looks like anymore. Holl conditioned us for what normally would be regarded as terrible as being not so bad simply because the bar had been set so low for him.

Some of us even applauded when McCabe and Klingberg were brought in.

Until they started playing in games that is. Then, whoa Nelly, we all got the shock of our lives when we realized there actually could be defensemen just as bad as Holl. Now there's at least two of them on the team.

And Domi too.

Felt that way also.
I’m feeling like all the signs are pointing towards Keefe; constantly out coached in the playoffs and O’Reilly said something to the effect of “we could have given that series a different look”.
He’s done everything he can do for this club and I just can’t see him getting them far in the playoffs.
But Tre won’t fire him unless we go on a crazy losing streak and I think this team is good enough to avoid such streaks and be stuck with him.

Keefe was a game away from getting fired the last two years in a row.

I blame Treliving for keeping the "fire a coach" card. If they have to can Keefe in November it's gonna look real bad now. Shoulda did it in the offseason when everyone was calling for his head.

No one would have said a word.

Now they risk burning another year of contention off the prime of the stars. Floundering in mediocrity. Another postseason flop this year and Shanahan should be given the boot too.

Whether Treliving is the one who should replace him is a different question altogether.

"Why are they so obsessed with us"
They go on to make multiple mainboard threads about the leafs after the game.

I can't 😂

I guess what one of them said is true, beating the leafs is their Stanley cup.

Ottawa got goaltending which IMO is the most important position in hockey. I think they will make the playoffs this season.
