League is a joke and got what they wanted. I still believe in the Leafs to win the next game, the last 3 years I had no hope. Being at home will be nice, problem is a the refs calling a a fair game won't happen. +6 PP diffirential in 6 games is a joke.

Exactly.

There is no doubt in my mind that if that Kuch taken out at center in OT we are short handed.
One other thing - we cleary learned makeup calls are clearly a thing. When a ref does a wrong call, almost always they've been on point with makeup calls.

But we DON'T get them. Ever. They screw up our game with their officiating and they just go back to calling it how they did.

If it were just the Leafs I'd agree, but I seem to genuinely curse anything I enjoy lol.
And no, I blame the NHL, they don't need us to win and us losing is actually good for the league, keeps it relevant.

I am somehow both a Leafs fan and an Atlanta Falcons fan. Really burning the candle at both ends.

Was surprised at how little jump Tampa Bay had from the start. I thought they'd come out swinging for their lives but honestly they were pretty flat all game. Such a missed opportunity. I'm heartbroken.

Nah MTL and CBJ got away with a lot of crap too. WSH maybe not, but we were also the underdogs so no surprise there.
Everyone gets away with stuff in playoffs, it's game altering PPs and escalation that are the big concern and those were the series for it

Tampa had no business even going to OT, we should've had at least 3 power plays in that OT, probably 4 or 5

Engvall gets interfered with on the icing call
Kerfoot gets elbowed by Sergachev
Bunting clearly gets elbowed in the crease right before the goal

Absolutely insane. Even worse considering that bullshit high stick they called on Kampf, just pathetic. League wanted a game 7 so bad and they got it.
The most obvious was Holl getting tackled.

There's a world of difference between losing a hard fought game vs Tampa and double clutching vs Montreal. Playing Montreal was a Charlie Brown field goal, this is a heavyweight fight.
You may be right, but I don't feel that is true. Every professional athlete I have ever heard from says there is no momentum from game to game.

Imo, the Leafs lost yet another series clinching game. That is the bottom line. There are no more moral victories for this group, the lessons have all been learned.

So they either do it or don't, but the reason won't be because of how they played in game six. I think games 2 and 4 would have made that clear. You create your momentum from the start of the game... or you don't lol.

If there's something wrong with the culture, it produced Game 5. You can lose like tonight and it's painful as hell but you don't generally hate the team. Game 4 was such an egregiously bad result when they had so much going for them when they had found some real mojo in Game 3 and were playing with house money. You want to cash out of that series as early as possible, but hang around and wait for an anything goes Game 7.
I don't personally think there is much reason to be overly emotional. They'll either blow another series with multiple chances to win it, or they'll prevail and start building a foundation of winning, rather than losing.

It's extremely hard to do. It's a coin flip at this point, IMO. If they win, that's fantastic. It could very well springboard them. Another loss just adds to the culture of losing when it matters.

Bring on Saturday night!

Both were pretty f***ing questionable. One that wasn't even a high stick, and the other Hedman literally hit HIMSELF with Kerfoot's stick because HE was the one trying to do a stick lift.

The first high stick was obviously pretty BS the second kerfoot doesn't get called on if he doesn't try to spend 5 seconds pushing his stick into headmans neck

Did Matthews not get tripped at centre ice just before the goal?

Hedman was doing the pushing.

I know it’s still emotional for many of you for good reason, trust me I’ve been there with the past 5 playoffs. But objectively this leafs team has been a whole lot better than past teams, wayy less tentative and not scared. Tampa legit looks slow compared to them. The Big boys just gotta show up again on Saturday and leafs will win this.

I've said it a few times over the last 6 years; the league treats the Matthews iteration of the Leafs like they're the 2002 Domi-Tucker iteration in the playoffs and they have to be beaten down if they play even slightly physical...

But as a result we get stuff like not playing our hitters and guys not taking the body when they should, because no one knows if hitting a player is going to be a penalty...

Ask yourselves why the majority of players who come to the Leafs stop hitting, even if hitting was a major part of their game. Considering Keefe's teams in the past were gritty hitting teams, I don't think it's either him or Dubas. It's because hitting = penalties in Toronto.

I think the effort, the will, and the desire were all there tonight; we just came up a tad short in the execution. I don't know what the result will be on Saturday but I will say I fully expect our boys in blue to come out guns a blazing this game. Can't see them going down without a fight and we'll have our "7th man/woman" to help willus to victory.

If we lose, it will feel like death; if we win, it will be one of the great Leaf highlights that doesn't involve directly winning a cup.
