matthews just said they "need to put their balls on the line"

He says a lot of shit. He just needs to come through

For a superstar, he hasn't had a dominant game yet in NHL playoffs
MaC, Crosby, McDavid, Marchent all had big games for their teams

Auston needs to grow some

I hope Matthews puts up some good regular season #'s his last couple years in Toronto. He's not coming back to a team with 11 straight first round exits. If he does, he's a pylon.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are Auston Matthews' team. The whole storyline of the franchise is his persona come up story. If he left to go somewhere else he would downgrade his legacy a la Kevin Durant sidekick.

If it makes you feel any better, the Rangers had to defend a full 2 minute 5 on 3 in an elimination game last night. Refs suck.
Our series has had 250 pims (give or take a couple) and they're calling everything.

Tonight, they called nothing. Except the Leafs for 3 penalties and the Lightning for 1. Including somehow a 5 on 3.

sucks to dominate OT with chance after chance and lose on such a weak goal. I was shocked when I didn't hear a whistle for the faceoff and then bam it's a soft loose puck into the net

We'll ice this at home. Tampa looks beat. They've had a ton of lucky bounces and plenty of help from the refs.

Jack, please shut the f***ing door Saturday night.
Crowd should be a huge factor. I expect the loudest arena in all of the NHL on Saturday night

I agree with reffing thing. If the leafs are down by a goal in the third in game 7 and in the PP, I’d argue even a literal murder wouldn’t give us a 5 on 3. The 5 on 3 call today pissed me off so f***ing much.
It's not even just that. Right before the OT goal they're throwing nasty elbows and tripping people at center. That literally led to an odd man advantage. Killorn dogsledding Matthews during a scoring chance.

But they call the most chincy shit against us. The most ridiculous shit.

I mean, Tampa has how many puck over the glass penalties? How many too many men? Without those are the penalties even close at all?

So since it's tradition in elimination games, which of our players is going to step up, roll up his sleeves, grab a shovel, and singlehandedly bury this team in game 7? I think Kerfoot has all the tools to go back to back here but Marner had some real strong flashes in OT.

Knew it was gonna go 7.

Great game that could have gone either way. 2 of the best teams playing their hearts out in the best series of the first round.

Big showdown in Toronto is gonna be amazing. Are the hockey gods finally going to be kind?
Lol I hope so. I don't know if there is a god but if there is he's a f***ing douchebag to Leaf fans.

so leave. Go cheer for another 'motr rational' fanbase. The Leafs played great tonight and probably should have won.

And I'm tired of 'i told ya so' and 'realist' fans kicking this team and its fans when they're down. Go somewhere else and be a POS since we can't use the other word.

So you think the constant first round losses, year after year, are acceptable and that we shouldn't be f**king pissed about it?

Agreed. It's not a choke unless they lose game 7.

I want to win and feel terrible about the loss tonight in OT, but when you're playing the defending cup champions one shouldn't be playing like the nervous or frustrated frontrunner. We should be the hungry underdogs (with home ice advantage).

I’m way more optimistic going into this game 7 as opposed to last year. Leafs have played high level hockey in games 5 and 6 and battled through some adversity. It’s 50/50, but the difference is the stars are playing well this time around and that bodes well

Wow crazy negativity, leafs play like that again on Saturday and I almost guarantee they win. That was some bad luck and bad officiating, this is NOT choke job like in past years
How can you say that? They played like that tonight and didn’t win, what would make Saturday different
