Greig is a rat plain and simple, he knew what he was doing, he knew it would get a rise out of the Leafs. He didn't know that a Leaf would actually take physical retribution, which is usually on point for a Leaf, cower and walk away.

This is really on Greig :sarcasm:, if Greig didn't put up his arm to push Rielly away the stick would have never ridden up Ridleys face. Ridley knew what he was doing, he withered on agony on the ice for as long as it took for the refs to call 5 and a game and he was then later seen laughing at center ice.

This is just more of rinse wash repeat, the Leafs didn't as a team do what they needed to do, structural breakdowns. shitty goaltending. The Leafs have an inability to dictate play... that in a nutshell will be why they don't make the playoffs or are eliminated in the 1st round. They are team built for an All Star game, case closed.

If you can't beat the 28th placed team, you wont be the team who wins their last playoff game.

They won the battle of Ontario. That counts for something, right?

The fact that we lost the regular season series vs Ottawa fking Senators should give everyone a pause.

We are good in regular season, remember? Playoffs will be fun this year

BEST POST OF THREAD .. HERE HERE .. Shanny you know it too .. it is time for a change .. disgusting effort from this collection of "mail it in" types .. while ur at it let Keefer and Tre go too .. Tre can't fix our D and Keefer can't seem to motivate this motley crew .. absloutely disgusting display in front of 10k Leaf fans in Ottawa
Shanny should be the first to go. I'm just afraid they might replace him with Jennifer Botteril.

Well, they really have not been good for the past few seasons. Despite having those record setting points, they were usually bailed out by 1-2great months and then play a bit better than .500 hockey. Just so happened they didn’t have those 1-2 great months yet.

It is finally good to see the team getting frustrated and mad about being mediocre to crap bc they are a lot better than their records if only they play more than 20mins a game and start on time.

There should be a brawl with 5 secs left of the game after the restart. Reaves should be screaming and yelling at Sens bench saying he is going to fight you either you want it or not. Then take the faceoff.
Disappointed that Keefe and Reaves didn’t do that.

One more thing I want to add. Domi was the first one there, then Willie. JT and AM followed then MM came in. Our top 4 needs to be better as to me, it seemed like they didn't take it personal when Greig took that shot. I will bet that if Reilly didn't do what he did, Domi would had been the one who jumped Greig for the slap shot. And thats the f**king leadership we have in our core.
At least to me, if seemed like they are fine with someone taking a slapshot into the empty net, it is just another regular season loss, no big deal...
I am really sick and tired of these 4 just don't give a crap about the crest in front. I said it in the game thread that this could be the turning point where the top guys will start playing better, but the more I watch the replays, the less I have confidence in them bc only Domi showed he cared and would defend our crest.
I really hope someone from MGT point out to them and ask them, would you have done anything if Morgan didn't?
Thats the 11million dollars question. And I am afraid the answer is NOTHING.

I hope they prove me wrong and start dominating plays from now on.
You couldn’t tell on tv but it was more than likely the players didn’t realize what happened until after the fact. Once the Sen was on the breakaway on an open net, they’d assume game over not that he pull that classless garbage. I’m sure if they saw it like on tv they would have gotten back a little quicker.

Reaves was out at the end in case the Sens retaliated. They should have but I guess he scared them off. Leafs has already made their point, nothing else was needed.

That’s why it was great to see Rielly go after Greig.

Losing to a down-and-out bottom feeder team like Ottawa is irrelevant. The regular season means absolutely NOTHING - - playoffs are the only thing that matters.

A year ago, Florida was a dumpster fire and a borderline lottery team. And then they went all the way to the finals.

It was a garbage play by a Sens player................but it has also caused Reilly going to get suspended.....how many games? 4 ?

And let's not act like Greig wound up in the infirmary.

Yeah but mediocre teams that shock in playoffs usually get hot goaltending or find a smothering team defensive structure.

Shanny has really changed for da worse since he was a kid .. we used to be sh*t kickin Mimico kids who fought on da daily .. now we have a "Jenn" team with few "Morgan" exceptions .. reality is she probably wouldn't be any worse

It is hilarious seeing all the couch warriors crying about how Greig did nothing wrong when even Norris admitted they would be just as mad if another team did that to them lmao
I would expect that at least a few Ottawa players and/or coaches spoke to him after the game. There is no need for him doing silly things like that. He is lucky he didn't end up seriously injured (intentionally or otherwise).

Odds are low given how bad NJ, NYI and Pens are.

Based on 1000 simulations, I think the playoff teams are probably set, it's just a matter of what order.

  • Boston 100% chance to make the playoffs
  • Florida 99.3% chance to make the playoffs
  • Rangers 99.1% chance to make the playoffs
  • Carolina 95.9% chance to make the playoffs
  • Toronto 80.0% chance to make the playoffs
  • Detroit 75.8% chance to make the playoffs
  • Flyers 74.5% chance to make the playoffs
  • Tampa Bay 73.7% chance to make the playoffs
  • Pittsburgh 41.8% chance to make the playoffs
  • Devils 27.0% chance to make the playoffs
  • Islanders 19.6% chance to make the playoffs
  • Capitals 8.4% chance to make the playoffs
  • Ottawa 2.3% chance to make the playoffs
  • Buffalo 1.8% chance to make the playoffs
  • Montreal 0.8% chance to make the playoffs
  • Columbus 0.00% chance to make the playoffs

Current Match up is:

Boston (A-1) vs Red Wings (WC2)
Florida (A-2) vs Tampa (A-3)
Rangers (M-1) vs Toronto (WC1)
Hurricanes (M-2) vs Flyers (M-3)

If the Leafs beat the Rangers their next opponent would be 'Canes or Flyers. Not the worst scenario in the world to have to go through the Metro. Rangers after being world beaters to start the season have fallen off quite a bit, the 'Canes are struggling to find good goal tending and have had a season very much like the Leafs...up/down super inconsistent. Flyers are oddly good but Tort's already said they are in a win later mode and will be trading off parts before the deadline. Would I like to play the Panthers or Bruins in the 3rd round vs the 1st or 2nd? Hell yeah, let them beat up on each other before we have to play one of them them. Odd that the worse Leaf team of the last 6 years might have the 2nd easiest path in the last 6 years but are not good enough to take advantage... so very Leafy...

Wow that path looks a lot better! Not that we can’t blow a series against any team but compared to Florida/Boston that looks like butter. Rielly pulling a 200IQ play out there 😈

Sens fans are all pissy about this but were fine with Alfie firing the puck at Niedermayer, calling it "leadership".
Sens fans should be more worried about why their team didn’t respond to the hit. Greig seems like an idiot maybe his teammates don’t like him.

Pretty much every player in the league would have reacted as Rielly did.

Yep, it's not the reaction that is the problem , it's the execution in the response that is the problem... the good thing for Keefe is this ending takes the focus off his teams shit effort and totally covers up the fact that the 28th placed team skated circles around his team.

Going into the season I expected both teams to be battling for a playoff position. Ottawa is a the most disappointing team in the NHL. As you saw last light, they’re very disorganized and almost gave away a 2 goal lead in the 3rd.
Yeah, glad we don’t do that… anyway when I was a kid I had a coach who was a wise man. He said don’t be saying that team sucks, anybody can beat a team that sucks…

His team did the Telephone booth scrum at he end of the game, what more would you expect? They responded in the previous 59:55 of that game by embarrassing a "superior" team.

Yep but all I have to say is - 2021 Montreal - Leafs are the Stanley Cup Champions of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

He'll get a fine. It was just a cross check. I'll be surprised if he gets a suspension.
David Perron got 6 games for his crosscheck on Zub. This appeared worse as it was at the end of a game and bitter apples for Reilly. The Sens are all irritants and Greig was a showboat idiot. However Perrons came after Larkin was knoxked out by punches to his head and Perron lost temper. I think Reilly gets 6 gams. The bar was set earlier this year.
