Getting bottled up by a lineup including like 500 rookies on D wasn't a great look by AM

He disappeared for a lot of the game especially 5v5

How do you blame a goalie on a 2 on 1 when it's the goalie's job to pay the shot?

No, players don't pick corners in every game. Just look at how hard it is for players to hit 4 targets on 4 shots at the all-star game standing still with no pressure and a big target. Imagine if that target was the size of a puck and at the corner.

It was 2 on 1 merited. But that pass was delayed and Caufield was one his strong side. He didn't even one time it.
Murray made himself look small

Why does it matter if you can hit 4 target 4 shots. That's one player trying that in skill game. You don't need to hit 4 shots 4 per time game

Like tonight's game. if one goes in, that's the difference maker and a back breaker

Here is the game evaluation.
goalie was suspect
defence was weak
Other then Malgins goal the new players were all but invisible
conclusion. For a team that is supposed to be a contender they got embarrassed

I don’t blame Murray for the goals. Second I think. Was tipped. If not. I blame him for that one

Muzz might be done….. Holl needs to be gone.

Murray now I’m a little more scared. He looked good in pre season but I wasn’t watching his glove.

It’s not open. He holds his glove like he is clapping his and and then raises his shoulder.

I don’t know wat that’s about but generally older style was having. Glove open face shooter. Lift up

New style is hand up like you are waving goodbye and move down. M

Murray holds it straight like he is touching gloves in boxing.

If he is injured then that’s just a nightmare for us. Cap hit us massive
His glove has always been weak.

I just can't excuse these type of performances anymore. This team is wayy too high on themselves for what they've accomplished up to this point (1st rd exit 6 years and counting). They should be coming out the gate ready to prove that they haven't earned s**t, not come out sloppy and showing a lack of heart. Habs willed themselves to victory - they simply wanted it more.

Yeah, but it's really hard to hit that shot. Most goalies aren't going to pick a puck in the corner.

How many goals does Matthews score post and in, are those all bad goals on the goalies?

Just one game boys.... Just gone

Give this team at least 10 games before turning on players

I don't think Murray had a good game. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

No wonder Tannenbaum wanted dubas gone
The leafs have almost bottomless resources and are dicking around with questionable goaltending
If it's true Colorado and Tampa have a smaller budget I side with Tannenbaum
4 games in 6 nights might get ugly
Early

It was the same issue all night, like they got over excited with the puck and threw it into traffic instead of making a play. Its what led to so many turnovers and the GWG

"Over excited with the puck."

I was listening to Carlo and Frankie Corrado on TSN radio this morning and the most interesting line I heard was a reference to Babcock telling Matthews he over stickhandled moving up the ice instead of shoveling it forward at speed.

Hate Babcock, or hate Babcock, but I thought there was something interesting there with that comment about the way the Leafs skill guys can overskill a play but not actually make an efficient play or correct play. There's a lot of razzle dazzle, but are they taking the puck to a high danger area, are they putting those pucks into the right areas, are they moving around the full 200 feet of the ice at an appropriate pace.

“People”. Ok sure. Well they were wrong.
… Zeke literally is flag barrier for saying our defense is top in the league. Again I hate naming people but it’s literally been said multiple times throughout the summer and that group of people who continually say it refer to advanced stats as their reasoning as to why they believe it to be true.

They are checking their notes instead of the highlights. Just agenda pushing
Surely you're not suggesting Holl had a good game? They were both equally slow and inept.

The team obviously will be better but it's still disconcerting that these type of games against inferior competition continues to happen. A gawdawful team showing passion and heart against us and frankly we looked listless and lackadaisacal throughout the lineup.

We know it’s just one game but we can’t be pissing away easy points like that. We also really need Murray to be able to catch a f***in puck.

Seemed like we couldn't complete a pass cleanly all night. Couldn't get a save. Guys randomly falling down. Really, really awful performance by pretty much everyone.

They overcomplicated things with their passing tonight. A lot of movement for not a lot of purpose.

I wouldn't say there's a goalie out there this past year that would have been a legit upgrade that's worth the cost though.

I have no problem running with a tandem .. I like Samsonov but I never though Murray was it.

If anyone is in here specifically singling out any one player in this thread they are showing their agenda:

Matthews, Marner, and Nylander were all bad tonight

The top line and Muzzin killed us. That is not to say others could not have played better (Murray, Rielly, Holl, 4th line are the guys who I would put in that category), but I don't think they were the ones who cost us here.

Muzzin is way behind after missing most of preseason. He was skating and thinking far too slow tonight, and his decision making cost us multiple times.

Our top line was not only doing nothing, but also actively making poor decisions which cost us multiple goals too.
