To me it didn't matter if Leafs won or loss
What bothers me is our style of play hasn't changed a bit

Kubel just replaced Clifford
ZAR wasn't even noticeble

Jarnkrok played tonight? what is he supposed to bring exactly?

Everyone played like everyone plays. Nothing really seems different

Yup.

And you know what. They weren't good but they controlled the third period so well. And even after giving up the lead they capitalized on Montreal's mistake. What gets me is that they didn't run with it from there. Just zero composure mentally to lock the game down.

I thought Sandin and the second line were good tonight. Brodie and Rielly same as usual (thats a positive).

When the team plays tough games they fold. They need a big #1D in place of muzzin and holl that doesn't do stupid things like give away and screen your goalie, this pattern will continue into the playoffs.

The plus side to a poor first half, dubas and keefe should be fired. Sometimes you have to take one step back to take 2 steps forward.

I'm very concerned about Murray's health at this point. He's gonna have a sub 900% sv percentage if he can't hold his glove straight. NHL players are too good at shooting to have such a deficiency

I said after watching his first Leaf press conference that he kept moving his right hand to his left shoulder. The only time I've ever done that was when I had nerve pain there.

If anyone is in here specifically singling out any one player in this thread they are showing their agenda:

Matthews, Marner, and Nylander were all bad tonight

Murray had no real shot at any of the goals.

First 2 goals Caufield picked the corner
Third goal, rebound goes right to Monahan
Fourth goal, Holl did his best to make sure Murray saw none of it

Had Sandin signed earlier I imagine Holl would have been dealt. That stalemate made it tougher to trade Holl.

Still, Liljegren coming back will help a lot.

I don’t blame Murray for the goals. Second I think. Was tipped. If not. I blame him for that one

Muzz might be done….. Holl needs to be gone.

Murray now I’m a little more scared. He looked good in pre season but I wasn’t watching his glove.

It’s not open. He holds his glove like he is clapping his and and then raises his shoulder.

I don’t know wat that’s about but generally older style was having. Glove open face shooter. Lift up

New style is hand up like you are waving goodbye and move down. M

Murray holds it straight like he is touching gloves in boxing.

If he is injured then that’s just a nightmare for us. Cap hit us massive
Probably something to do with his broken hand he had?

Yup.

It was the same issue all night, like they got over excited with the puck and threw it into traffic instead of making a play. Its what led to so many turnovers and the GWG

If we come out and smoke Washington tomorrow, wonder if all the people complaining now will change their opinion.

It's game 1

The hot takes are interesting right now, it really shows how short of a memory people have.

Also, the regular season doesn't matter, why does anyone care?

We should be evaluating the game not predicting the season.

They were horrible this game, and it was mostly between the ears.

Deserved the loss as they were outworked for most of the game. Easy to fix.
Extremely sloppy play high in the offensive and defensive zone. Easy to fix.
Very low attention to detail. Easy to fix.
Were in the game only because the Habs have extremely weak defence.
PP didn't look threatening despite having extended control in the offensive zone. Probably an early season expectation.
Murray was pretty easy to beat high on that glove side. We were warned.

My guess is the Habs get throttled by whoever they play next.

Malgin and Rielly caught my eye on the positive side. 1st line generally sucked.

Goaltending is a big problem. This team is in for a rough season.

I said after watching his first Leaf press conference that he kept moving his right hand to his left shoulder. The only time I've ever done that was when I had nerve pain there.
Very interesting. Feel for the guy but if he's not healthy he will sink our season

It is however nice to see the regular season only matters if the Leafs lose and/or play lousy.

The 80% od the time they will play well can be cast out as an anomoly of the other team not trying as it is not the "real season"
