Sloppy, turnover prone, zero structure, I don't know if this is just bad plays on defense or bad coaching. The "future legend" of course gets out-coached by a guy with less than a season of coaching in his entire life

Looked like a lot of players not familiar with each other and that was just the top 6.

Kerfoot is a wild hockey player out there.
Holl/Muzzen are not in good form.
Murray was ok, but they really needed a save at times. They didn't get it. Not all on him, but we need more (sadly).

Matthews did not look like a MVP. That line got too stupid at times with extra passes, etc.

I don't like our defense in general.

Nylander and Tavares looked pretty good at times.

In the prediction thread, I said that Montreal would win 6 to 3. Murray just is not a good goaltender, abysmal would be putting it politely. I mean, when you stay status quo and then you sign two goaltenders that can’t stop a puck, this is pretty much scripted how I pretty much expected it would go.

Holl and Muzzin continue to be useless as expected, they’ve regressed even more, did not think that would be possible.

Pretty hard to win games when your goaltender can’t even give you a save percentage above .875%.

I’m glad I had zero hype heading into the season, there’s literally nothing to be excited about. I’ve seen Matthews and Marner break records, I don’t care about that stuff anymore. Until management shows they care, why should I show that I care?

On the other, this team looks like it has the exact same problems that have killed us for the past…God…six years.

I thought the top line sucked tonight and were not a factor at all. Brodie and Rielly were great. I thought overall the Leafs played alright but ... yeah. A lot of mistakes.

Most of those folks that say our defence is top of the league also are stats junkies. They dont have a clue. They’re almost as lost as Dubas. It’s still crazy early so there is time for a miracle.

When we brought back Gio instead of prioritizing signing Sandin or another younger option in UFA I knew it would be a tough year ahead.

Once again the casual observer was right about Muzzin/Holl and Keefe was wrong.

Muzzin and Holl are just too slow.

Why is Holl being flamed? Muzzin was directly responsible for two goals. We didn't deserve this one at all. Were never ready to play to be honest.

Holl brutal turnover lead to the 2 on 1 that started that whole thing instead of us having sustained pressure in the offensive end.

He was throwing grenade passes and turnovers all night.

Muzzin brutal too, but Holl has been this awful for years and our f***ing GM and coach still drool all over him.

You can’t blame tonight on goaltending. Our defense on all 4 goals were out to lunch.

I know a lot of people were excited about our defense. But I’ve been saying it all summer. Our defense core is old and slow.

No one was excited about our defense. Looks like another long season ahead filled with the same chocolate covered pretzels
