Kerfoot, Nylander, Bunting looked decent. Everyone else? Bleh.
Gio, Holl, Muzzin looked very Bleh.

I'm not going to take a dump on Murray, but he does have to get his glove up and at least pretend to wave it around.

All in all, game 1 literally means nothing.

The Leafs didnt play like this last year LOL. They dominated tonight but gave up too many odd mans off of bad reads/jumps from D and forwards then shoveling the puck into the middle without support behind for when it gets blocked.

They deserve to he criticized for their play tonight but the sky isn't falling - they're a good defensive team and will likely get back to being it in the future.

Dont think holl and muzzin should play together. Both individually are fine, but their foot speed when paired together kills them IMO.

Meh I think Dubas missed the opportunity to rebuild the defense this summer. Go younger, cheaper. Obviously not having Lilly also hurts. And what do you consider dominate? Skating around the perimeter? Outside of Nylander, Aube-Kuebel, Tavares, Marner the odd time and Engvall I didn’t see many leafs players drive the net. Everything was outside

Im disappointed, because listening to the radio stations today over analyzing freaking preseason, I was certain Nylander was going to pot 9 goals tonight.

I’m thinking, or hoping at least, that when Liljegren is back Holl is gone - if you just believe hard enough.

I’ve said numerous times, if he’d just cut the risk out of his game, and maybe gain 10-15 and play like a man, we’d all be the better for it.

Muzzin has had a long career and deserves to spend his last days on Robidas Island. This is potentially the third year where he’s going to start slow and we can’t have it.

But not like anyone else was amazing back there. Gio and Brodie were adequate but didn’t really do anything of note, Mo made a few sweet stretch passes and Sandin looked more physically engaged.

Rielly Liljegren
Sandin Brodie
Gio Mete(?)
Muzzin

In a parallel universe there’s a reality that exists where the Leafs traded Kerfoot and Holl for picks, Nicky Bobby is in the team (he deserves to be) kept Lybushkin and signed Jack for 5x4 years and didn’t sign Jarnkrok - I’m willing to give him a chance but for real what does he provide that we lack?

And every time I post it duplicates so I have the same content in my posts two times, what the f*** is this shit?

Hopefully an sloppy early regular season loss lights a fire under their ass for the next few games. Good wake up call.

So many people are writing off the Habs this year. But they were a lot better when St Louis took over, have some decent pieces up front to not make it easy. They'll be exposed defensively but I wouldn't be shocked to see them finish ahead of the Red Wings and Sabres in the division.

Also sucks because I think Montreal has a good coach in St Louis. He's turned Caufield's career around.

For those saying that it's just the regular season - These points matter. They are the difference between playing Tampa Bay or Washington in the first round. We dropped a ton of points to bad teams last year.

A better regular season record will lead to home ice advantage and favorable seeding. They need to take care of business this season against MTL, ARI, BUF, etc.

Frustrating to watch them take nights off against these teams. They need to take care of business with easy wins and put themselves in the best possible position to succeed in the post season. We all know they need all the help they can get getting over the Round 1 hump.

How do you blame a goalie on a 2 on 1 when it's the goalie's job to pay the shot?

No, players don't pick corners in every game. Just look at how hard it is for players to hit 4 targets on 4 shots at the all-star game standing still with no pressure and a big target. Imagine if that target was the size of a puck and at the corner.

Neither goal looked like a picked corner.

On the first you can distinctly see it brush past Murray's upper arm on the slo-mo.

The second goal was not tipped, it went over Murray's outstretched glove hand.
