I don't think this is factual at all.

Regardless on how you feel about him he is indeed rrspected for being a good guy and someone who takes care of his employees.

If they brought in Trotz it might fo Dubas some good if he listened to him in regards to roster construction.

I don't fault Dubas gor being loyal. It is an honorable trait. It just doesn't seem to translate to on ice success in the playoffs
That right there is the line. Dubas is a good GM and a good person. But loyalty and being a good person doesn’t necessarily win you championships. You have to be cut throat and make hard decisions. Sometimes you might not be liked.

I haven't been a fan at all of how Marner and Matthews have played this season.

But I'll be smiling more than anyone if they actually use this dark period to get pissed off and take it out on the rest of the league by going on a tear.

They just need to put in the effort
How many times have we said the above? Get pissed? Use this dark period? They don’t get it.
This team is not built as a hard working team.
This team is built just to skill.
Adrenaline rush can bring the skill up for periods and then it can fall. Can’t sustain in big moments.
The leaders also don’t get it. Never have.
Example, in a 1-1 game, a guy like Marner would try 4 fancy moves at the blue line and lose the puck finding it in our net. Instead of putting in deep in the zone.
They are individuals playing on a team.
Sum of the parts and no valid team structure.

Schedule suddenly gets much tougher. What's with that 5pm Sunday start versus Carolina after playing Boston the night before? 😂

Ideally, we trade Marner and a depth guy (Aube-Kubel, Aston-Reese, Engvall, Holl) for a legit top 6 guy that isn't old and isn't an upcoming UFA, a "just okay" depth guy that makes too much money but is an upcoming UFA (this is to make the deal work with the cap), and a REALLY good prospect or 1st rounder, and maybe even another half-decent prospect or 2nd rounder).

If we traded him in the offseason, more teams would be interested and we MIGHT get more in the trade.

New Jersey, NY Islanders, Nashville, St Louis are probably interested. There are other teams that I imagine might be interested if we are willing to take a player back in the trade that they HAVE to include to make it work... Buffalo (Jeff Skinner), Philadelphia (James van Riemsdyk), Winnipeg (Blake Wheeler), Los Angeles (Iafallo and Walker), Vancouver (Tyler Myers and/or one of Boeser Garland).
Marner to Nashville would be good, but Jeannot cannot be included.

Matthews to VGK for Eichel and Whitecloud and they can exchange picks and minor leaguers to make it look bigger.

The bigger concern is why is the Carolina game on ESPN?

He would only sit in the box this era.
Bell hit = Jail.

2021 record after first 10 games:

5-4-1 with 25 GF and 29 GA

2022 record after first 10 games:

4-4-2 with 27 GF and 30 GA.

Last season they went 8-2-0 in their next 10 game stretch.

Completely agree.

We'll now see what they're really made of.

Fork in the road!

My issue is what does a new coach do? They wanted the other one gone and for good reason. They got the one they wanted and yet same problem. Keefe has weaknesses but he's not the main problem here.
Agreed, but there is no way to get proper value in trading any big name. The coach is always the first thing to change; but will Dubas be willing to make that move?

I don't think the schedule matters.

It isn't like their talent doesn't stack up, it's that their play has been brutally dumb.
I agree. I don’t think it matters. We could play the best 4 teams in the league next and win them all. Then lose a 7 game series to Montreal. That’s what we have built here.

Dubas will be fired before the core is broken up.

only way Marner is moved is Samsonov gets injured and we go on a huge losing streak
Samsonov has had good Octobers in the past and looks like he’s reverting back to normal.

We now need him to put up the same numbers that Soup put up last November. He's been good, but not sure he can carry the mail and Kallgren won't win you many games.

Kallgren on the winning goal was way to deep, playing the pass perhaps and not the shooter.
Should have played the shooter and cut down on the angle.
Perhaps he didn't expect the defender to protect the pass.

The BoD needs to step in and tell Shanny that Dubas cannot make any personnel changes without prior approval.

Hoping guys play above their normal level is poor management. It can happen, but the GM put the team in bad, yet predictable situation

Holy smokes. Some of the suggested courses of action in this thread are laughably bad.

Some are porbably not as laughable as that 3rd period last night, Mitch's sulking and baming the media for trying to put shambles in their heads. Had it not been for that overturned goal (which I have no idea where interference was), they would have lost it in regulation.

Drafted by Edmonton Oilers
- round 3 #78 overall 2017 NHL Entry Draft

Oilers look like they've drafted a home grown talent to replace Soup in Edmonton.
So far he is miles better than Campbell, who probably need another outlier couple of months to keep his job.

Leafs Ian Scott drafted same draft is retired due to injuries.
Joseph Woll draft the year prior is in limbo due to injuries.

Leafs are drafted goalies are still cooking in their home country leagues.

Holy smokes. We are talking about the same stuff in year 5.

Same script, year after year. Go into the season with a 5 or 6 unanswered question and hoping they pan out. Expecting players to do something they’ve never done is poor management.

Who respects Kyle Dubas? He's the punchline to a joke. Voted GM you'd most like to negotiate with to get a good deal.

Reports Murray had a high draft pick attached to him, but not for Dubas. Andrew Ladd, worse contract, worse player, more term than Marleau, yet Marleau still cost them a 1st round pick. Why? Because the other GM's don't respect Dubas and know they can take advantage of him. Player agents as well.

Dubas is a beta. That personalty can make a swell husband/father/friend but its a liability as an executive.
