This is my argument too, why make the third line if they are the fourth line. Anaheim is a game you want to try and score 4/5/6/7 goals to get it going, not win a 2-1 contest

They may have been called the third line, but with about 4 minutes ES in the first period they showed they were the best line, and scored the only ES goal.

Why would you bench/break them up? Normally a line playing that well is given more ice time.

Babs 100% decided that getting 5 mil a year to do nothing was the way to go.

Might have also decided to come back ( and lessen the impact on mlse) if dubas didn't ruin his rep through Media leaks on the way out to justify the firing.

Was one if he most unprofessional hachet jobs I've ever seen

So you feel like Babs thought the best thing for his legacy would be to get fired from the mecca of hockey - and then not get hired by anyone in the league, and then just go into the sunset on a sour note?

OG Dubas haters reunion right here :) Hope you're good man.

They still won't listen. LOL
I pop in now and then and yet even after our teams performance people still defend him.
I spoke to him one evening while watching my daughter play at Brock University and he was telling me then about his hockey knowledge...it was lacking then and still is. The glasses kill me and should be all anyone needs to know about him.

I know you Dubas homers are really struggling with eating your crow. But I'll continue to laugh should you not head my advice. Been doing it for 5 years now.

I'm actually excited about the Leafs again! His time is near. And we need him gone to move forward.

Yes, I'll heed the advice of someone who practically lives on these boards.

Dubas has made his fair share of mistakes, but with your time on here it's obvious you've read the pros and cons, and decided that this is the hill you want to die on - for the current management to get fired and for us to live through a mediocre Fletcher/JFJ/Lou era.

All to feed your useless ego - "I was right all along".

Yeah, you enjoy that fantasy land of another 5-10 years of failure.

Did you read his post...Dufus made sure thar Babcock would be seen in the worse possible way.
It was a hatched job like no other.

I can almost see Keefe in the post-game scrum saying "It's disappointing, but I saw something tonight we can build on." Perhaps pointing to last season's "positive" loss to Carolina early on that led to the team turning it around.

You are expecting too much, should they fire Keefe and replace him Trotz, probably... if you want try to make something of the season, but I don't think they will do it. with Babcock the writing was on the wall, I don't think the team has quit on Keefe like how they did with Babcock.

Toronto is a fragile team, that we know of much, they fold and fold and fold till its over, theres no bite or pushback from the team. I don't think a new coach changes that.

I expect something, so yeah. Not sure it's on the coach at all, but hey, whatever happens happens.

When are we going to start seeing this sign at Leafs games?

Because they've had success up until now?

On another note.................
I don't know about anyone else, but I effing hate seeing goalies go down to their knees and then shrug their shoulder at a puck going over their shoulder. Who the hell decided that was effective????

I really can't put this on Keefe. How can anyone look at this roster and put it on Keefe? This is one of the worst leaf rosters I've seen in a long time.

It would be very unfair to point the finger at Keefe. I don't think he's qualified to do his job, but I didn't hire him.

Dubas not only hand picked this unorthodox choice, he also built the team.
Dubas is 100% responsible for this mess.

It's been f***ing painful watching these clowns piss away AM. This is the last thing I wanted. Hence my anger.

I'm sorry my accurate hockey assessment upsets you so. LOL.

As of now? yes Dubas is better than Lou. Lou has been irrelevant for a long time now. The Islanders were awful last year. I'd rather whatever we have now than what Lou has given the people of Nassau.

You didn't read a damn thing about what I said in terms of Covid. You've paid attention to nothing. They had actual success last year. If you have the best season ever, you have to have a lot of successes. Playoffs aside, you don't have a regular season and hart winner without that kind of success.
Yes, the Islanders had a bad year last year, with the extended road trip, lots of key injuries, and being the only team forced to play through their covid outbreak. The three previous years they did better than we did, and at the moment they have a better record, with more goals scored and fewer allowed.

It;s been 10 games.

Keefe looks like dead man walking. I'm glad he had the testicular fortitude to sit Mitch for awhile.
I've always liked Sandin. But he keeps making the same mistakes. You expect him to figure it out by now. Or at least not make the same mistakes. It's early in the season, plenty of time to figure it out. If this team wants Keefe as it's coach. They better snap out of it. If they dont. The plot thickens.

Too many delusional and loyal to a fault leaf fans that will continue shelling out crazy money to see leaf games buy merchandise etc. So sadly nothing will ever change, the only way pressure to yield a better product would occur is if MLSE and gang feel it in the their pockets, which will never happen here. I would LOVE to see a boycott where there are a ton of empty seats, but ain’t gonna happen

Keefe was hurting... sounded like a desperate man. Asked if he thought his job was in jeopardy and he started rambling and then was basically pleading for his job... saying ....we just need to get home, we just need to get some healthy bodies back, we had similar start to last season and it turned around.

Most concerning part is when he was asked about Marners giveaways, he once again deflected the blame from Marner and onto the whole team, saying they weren't ready to defend. Jeesh... 90% of teams aren't ready to defend those giveaways.

This team's a mess...it's embarrassing watching Keefe plead for a job and then also treat the 11 million dollar winger like a 5 year old Timbits player.

We almost held the stars accountable a few games back but the coach had to walk back on it almost instantly

Now Keefe is back defending their sorry asses to the media, no accountability in sight.

Can you f***ing believe the culture of this team nowadays.

To be honest, I understand - and share - your frustration.

Having some of the best players the Leafs have had (talent wise) and seeing the result the past few years has been an extremely maddening experience.

I know you're taking piss but I apologize for trying to throw in remarks about the number of posts etc. - it has no bearing on the actual argument.

You focus on minutiae, I'll use the big picture as the arbiter of what constitutes a winner.
Lou did a very similar thing with Komarov - 'overpaid' a player for his impact in the dressing room rather than on the ice. (Yes, Leo was much more successful - too bad Dubas let him walk.)

The biggest difference was that Dubas had to waste a 1st to get rid in Marleau, while getting rid of Leo cost Lou nothing.
