It’s not ‘random’. Marchand took Lilly out, maybe long term. Might have broken his leg or ankle.

You make someone pay for that. Every team does. This team won’t even facewash the guy, no scrum after the play, no putting reaves out the next shift.

f***ing nothing.

If Marner went out and two handed pasta behind the knees, you think the bruins are going to just shrug their shoulders and skate to the bench?

The problem is Marner would also get 6 games for doing so. I do feel one of them needs to bite the bullet and retaliate. But I understand why they don’t. It’s because George fcking Parros throws the hammer down every time the leafs do play on the edge.

Take Knies as an example. Rookie, played a few playoff games, contributed to winning a round for the first time in forever.

Gets slammed by Bennett and........ nothing.

How do you think Knies feels after that shit. He's like, f***, I'm on my own here. Another thing for him to worry about as he tries to get his footing in the league.
We’ve all played/coached the game for many years and you stick up for your teammates. That’s how hockey is supposed to be played imho. It sickens me watching cheap shots, goalies run without a whimper. If my worst enemy is on my team I still would defend him like most here would.

Keefe is like Marner in that his regular season stats are deceptive. They reflect soft competition during the regular season and not preeminence. Keefe has some excellent horses to ride in the regular season, he rides them real hard, and they have and will continue to pad his and their own regular season stats. Different story when the level of intensity is raised.

I am not disagreeing, but I also think Liljegren should stick up for Liljegren too. He has to be tougher and better.

Liljegren got the Jake Gardiner treatment this week. Dump ins and forced puck retrievals all day and just hammered like a pinata. No forward support to slow down that forecheck, no adult supervision to put LA and Boston in place after the whistle. And then gets taken out by a Marchand cheap shot. Poor kid.

I hate to say it, but both Sam and Woll are bush league. The team is in trouble with those two scrubs in net.

That's what you have to say after tonight's game?

+1000

If only our players felt the concept of "team" the way you do.

You act like every captain in the league fights. What the hell did we bring Bertuzzi, Domi and Reaves here to do?
Fill bodies for a year I'd imagine. We had about 87 UFAs.

Someone in your core has to be a leader. Preferably more, but babysteps with this organization, at least one.

One of Tavares, Matthews, Nylander or Marner have to stand up for themselves, their team mates, the fans, the organization.

I don't actually expect any of the 4 to do anything, because I truly don't think they give a f*** about the team (in various ways/for various reasons/at various levels). But if you, as an organization as putting this much money into those 4 guys, at the very minimum, one of them has to be a leader, amd do what is right. At the absolute minimum.

Kampf needs to be on the 4th line, he has offence. The 3rd line provides no offence at all and we need them too. Domi maybe should get a shot at centre with Knies and maybe Holmberge or Robertson, not many options for the other side unfortunately
Kampf is a fine player. But he should be on the 4th line. It isn't his fault Tre signed no depth at centre and we are forcing him to play the 3rd line.

He also shouldn't have been signed for 2.4mil...

What's the point of having Reaves in the line-up if he can't punish Marchand after the slew-foot on Lilly?

This team is still soft AF. Will never make noise in the playoffs without a spine.

Keefe always seems to be tinkering but never solves anything through tinkering and never gets the team to buy into a functional system for any length of time with a consistent level of energy. Look at the kind of mileage Jim Montgomery is getting out of a very meh Boston roster on paper and the kind of training camp shit that is the Leafs.

It's feast or famine depending on whether the skill wakes up or if the goaltending goes into hero mode for a night. To me that seems to be replacement level coaching. You just get results based on whatever the players feel like giving you.

It's a very valid point. Yup they make a lot of money but this is a sport you can get messed up in physically very quick. Hence Lilly with the cheap shot rat Marchand.

If you're in a work place and you have no backup... how great are you feeling going into a simple meeting with a bunch of people you work with?

The Leafs team culture of this era can be defined as Boy Band Wanders Into Dark Alley.

The only time we even saw an appropriate hockey response in the last 7 years was probably Luke Schenn telling Brandon Hagel to buzz off between the benches last spring, when an adult could actually calm the waters and protect the team in a heated moment.

Outside of the first, I thought the team played decently. Once again, tough to play with 5 defencemen when two of them are Klingberg and Lagesson. Samsonov was ok, nothing great, awful in the shootout.

Now, to the issues I have with this team. f*** you Reaves for not pounding Marchand or at least stand up and deliver a message. Completely useless, adds NOTHING to this team on the ice. He is not a deterrent.

Ten games in and I’m still wondering wtf Domi and Bertuzzi’s strengths are. It’s not “snot”, it’s not skating, it’s not defence, it’s not offence. Bertuzzi deserved to be on the 4th line. Domi lost the puck so often in his own zone. He stinks.

5-3-2

At the 10 game mark, we’re basically a .500 team.

Let’s see how these next 10 games go…

no reason ever to start Kampf in OT again. I'd rather lose the draw with Matthews then have him sit 2 mins of OT cause Kampf lost the draw and is stuck out there.

Sammy has no confidence. Why do the Leafs always find the headcase goalies who are mental midget
Ya I said the same thing on another site. Keefe at his finest the dumb a**.

Domi and Bertuzzi look like they're waiting around to become Michael Bunting, like adopted by the cool kids but otherwise try not to do anything to step on anyone's toes.

Is there a coach out there that can get something different out of this crew?
Leafs were terrible tonight. Defense is way to soft. Doesn't seem to matter who they bring in, the culture is marshmallows. I don't blame Reeves as he'd have to take the Bruins or whoever they're playing on by himself. On the bright side, leafs have set up a lot of young lads for life financially.

I know the word gets thrown around a lot but it has to be culture right? Like everyone knows, players and fans, what being a Bruin looks like and what is expected of you.

The same is probably true for the Leafs to be fair. Players know what sort of organizational values we have.

I felt as if our culture was changing, under the Lou regime rightly or wrongly. And then to go to Dubas, the culture did a 180. Whichever culture you prefer is a personal choice.

It's going to take Brad 3 or 4 years to get his own culture into the organization. At the moment, we seem to be straddling in the middle.

Yeah. Well when it comes to the Leafs where does it come from?

Obviously the top top management or most likely the NHL.

It's getting so silly where you can't defend someone ....... if you're on a certain team.

Anyone who takes solace in the score of this game is delusional. Free flowing, many shots on both sides, no physical play (the can-opener was not physical play, just dirty), no tight checking. The kind of regular season game the Leafs would win against lesser competition.
