Agreed. Teams usually build momentum for the next game by laying out big hits in a game they know they are losing. We didn't do anything in the 3rd period like that.

I also agree that players have to take some ownership too but coaches have to find a way to help players succeed, play them to their strength and get the wins for the team. Cooper did that to a "T" tonight. Which is especially impressive since he didn't have the last change. Keefe did and he couldn't run his bench to benefit the team.

This has been Keefes biggest problem in every single playoff series. I don't know what the f*** he's thinking half the time, he never takes advantage of last change. On the first goal, he puts our 4th line out when he could've put the Matthews line out, who at that point hadn't had a single shift in the game.

I swear he has no clue how to take advantage of home ice. He did it against TB last year as well.

They're both egregiously poor calls, but you're putting yourself at the mercy of the shitty refs when you don't put in the effort/aren't smart enough to be in the right place on the ice.

It's just blowing my mind that we can't even make a big hit or clear the crease (a.ka give a light shove to a players back) without getting a penalty. It's really just tiring to watch.

You could see the league agenda in action. They saw the hit. Tampa wanted to initiate a fight and when McCabe didn’t engaged they looked for a plausible stick on hands on Kampf. I just wonder if McCabe fought Maroon it would have settled it down and built momentum. Not blaming McCabe though. Crooked refs.

I don't blame him for being upset one bit. The Leafs don't deserve anything from any of us. Their effort in every facet of the game apart from a hit by Bunting and McCabe was down right embarrassing. Once we knew it was over going into the third I was expecting our fourth liners to do ANYTHING. Break someone's face, take some crosschecking liberties. We have learned nothing

Look at the tape, it wasn't a slash, if it hit the hands it glanced them at best. Leafs got 2 minutes for scoring.

You get a read on this team and they don't have it .
Keefe line matches to begin the game why.
Let your houses run our top two lines didn't get any traction till TB was up 2-0 .
When we have proven TB can't keep up with us if we skate.
I don't get our coach he was more worried about TB scoring instead of us.

Did you see some of those calls though? That shove from Schenn? They call that a crosscheck when actual crosschecks happen all the time infront of the net and don't get called. That's literally his only purpose on this team, clearing the crease and he can't even do that in the most harmless fashion without one of their players jerking his body forward and getting rewarded for it. It would be nice for them to empty their tanks though I can agree with that.

Same thing happened on their last second goal in the first period. Could've easily been a Tampa penalty seconds before.

Kampf is out of the play because our D is being held at our bench by their player.

High stick isnt an issue when our D is in position on the PK. Sadly hes tripped infront of the ref causing the turnover and goal.

With Sammy's performance and our start it may not have mattered but there's some reasons for misplays tonight

The problems tonight in chronological order were
#1 Samsonov playing like Toskala

#2 The PK, Tampa went 4/8 on the PP. Yes there was a 5 minute major and 2 man advantage in there. Does not matter, 4 PP goals against.

#3 McCauley being a dickhead

I just feel leaf’s played scared. Seemed like from the start and like a typical leaf’s playoff game they just give up chances. It sucks and I’m gonna eat this entire pizza I ordered in bed and feel zero regrets.

Right from puck drop they were tentative. There was a closeup of ZAR just prior to the start and he looked incredibly uncomfortable. As soon as I saw that I thought he better be the only one feeling that way. Unfortunately it was a group thing.
