I wouldn't disagree with giving Samsonov another start because it would be putting alot of responsibility on Woll to play really well and help get the Leafs a win. However if Samsonov has another really bad game then Keefe may have to roll the dice and give Woll a shot.
Oh I would go back to Sammy too. He’s earned it.
If we benched everybody that was subpar tonight Acciari would be playing 60 minutes.

ZAR / Lafferty / Acciari / Kampf / Kerfoot .........We'd be lucky to get 1 goal summed across all 5

I think Jarnkrok degenerates to more of a 10-12 goal scorer / 82 games playing among these 5 too. He needs someone

Knies has to play. Not enough skill in the lineup. I don't understand why he didn't start game 1.

matthews / marner we'd be lucky to get one goal summed across those two

What's the record for PP goals in a single playoff game?
My Google skills seem to be poor.

I hope the refs put away the whistles next game.

Shake this one off, move on

I’m almost imagining one of their optimization specialists telling Acciari to play more like Engvall and explaining concepts on an iPad.

I had a few morons at work talk about "machine learning" and using "R" and "Python" in a "neural network" settings. I asked them a few subject matter questions as to how it was going to be resolved and they took a recess and had to leave because something urgent came up

Leafs seem to be filled with "talkers" who have no idea what they are saying just like using "big words" to sound "intellectual" but quite frankly knowledge and wisdom escapes them

All I know is that the geniuses on this board, including Keefe, thought that sitting ZAR for Knies would prevent us from giving up a terrible turnover in a key moment.

I watched ZAR hyperventilating with his eyes closed before puck drop and then do a blind backhand pass to a Tampa player for the first goal in the first 2 minutes to set the tone.

How about we play our best player and play to win, eh?
Yeah, I noticed that too right before puck drop

Mind boggling how nervous he looked and then he gets on the ice and coughs up an easy exit by getting cute

if the refs put the whistles away the leafs will get pummeled a la game two vs bruins

whether the refs are active or dormant the leafs will lose

I have no problem with that stuff whatever your line of work is!

Just a reminder that hockey is a game played by grown men sliding around on ice with sticks. So you don’t have to be that smart… if you’re good.

You're going to be awfully disappointed come game 2 then.

With 58 out, as he should be for that hit, the first line will be

19-34-16

That takes a speedy guy off the 3rd line who may or may not be replaced with a rookie playing his 4th NHL game.
You're not going to have RoR on that 3rd line with nothing around him AND take out the best defensive player of that 2nd line.

88 and 91 are very bad defensively, 91 because of his lack of speed and 88 because of his penchant for cheating up the ice and lackluster backchecking.

The team needs to realize that the bottom 6 are there to give the top 6 a breather instead of relying on them to win games.

Why the f*** Matthews and Marner play 13 or so minutes at even strength is absolutely perplexing.

They are by a good margin the best even strength players on the ice, followed by Pointe, and should be playing 17 minutes at even strength every game.
If that means that Marner hits 25 minutes with special teams, so be it.

I agree with just about all of your post except how are they supposed to play that much when we're shorthanded all game

Refs never disappoint, expected, corrupt officiating...those who questioned about criticising refs before puck drop? This will be a repeat of last year with the refs.

Hey Promised Brotha ….
I agree with everything you’ve honestly and correctly have pointed out … you are so right ..
I will only add .. that the players have to bare the on ice responsibility for the overall , team effort out there ..
I’m glad that a lot of Leafers and yourself remove that “ reffing “ albatross.. the players and coaching don’t deserve that out .
I pointed out earlier .. the 3rd period was my biggest disappointment and concern.
You have to have pride to win that period in all areas of the ice , weather you score or not .they were down 2 d , others were hurting , they were a physically beat team , but they gutted it out , we didn’t , that’s not a good sign at all .
Imagine if the game was reversed , we would be on our heals and sweating bullets as fans knowing our history of outrageous losses .
But we came out so dead agsin and uninspired again .
So brotha , I can’t argue with your points at all ..
We really need to change this , don’t know how with this Coach .
Completely over brains every little detail over and over and tries to be the brightest bulb ..way to hard , and stubborn as a mule , not Good attributes unfortunately.
But I really want to make sure that we can’t let the players off here as well ..
Not acceptable as a group , knowing and living the awful past , and pray life they did once more .
Cheers brotha
GLG
It’s damn frustrating indeed ..

Agreed. Teams usually build momentum for the next game by laying out big hits in a game they know they are losing. We didn't do anything in the 3rd period like that.

I also agree that players have to take some ownership too but coaches have to find a way to help players succeed, play them to their strength and get the wins for the team. Cooper did that to a "T" tonight. Which is especially impressive since he didn't have the last change. Keefe did and he couldn't run his bench to benefit the team.

whats the point of having home ice and last change if the coach is not going to use it to full advantage

matthews / marner we'd be lucky to get one goal summed across those two

Marner had 3 points tonight, Matthews had 2 points.

The problems tonight in chronological order were
#1 Samsonov playing like Toskala

#2 The PK, Tampa went 4/8 on the PP. Yes there was a 5 minute major and 2 man advantage in there. Does not matter, 4 PP goals against.

#3 McCauley being a dickhead
