I agree, and to think the 8 year contract begins next season for Him!That helps but they don’t even have a number 1 D man right now. Rielly is done.

At least I got to meet with Ray Ferraro, Chris Johnston, Bryan Hayes and Joe Bowen tonight.
They were all super nice and friendly, especially Joe. What a nice guy. Hearing that laugh in person was such a cool moment.
Brian Burke was also in the building but I got to be honest I was afraid to introduce myself to him lol.
Anything Has to be better than tonight. A shake up would probably help at this point.Lil is playing way worse D than Holl. How exactly does this help us?
Weird to me people keep ripping on Matthews and Marner. They were fine. Obviously we want more from them, but they were dominant at times, and really weren't an issue. I imagine theyll look better with more consistent ice time. On the other hand, the entire defense has looked like complete dogshit, faltering the moment they've seen a semblance of pressure, giving away the puck like crazy. Giordano and Holl were especially bad, and I don't think Schenn playing is wise even if his numbers were fine. Not to mention the entire bottom-6 basically did nothing positive all game. I'll give Sammy a pass because most of the goals weren't overly bad besides the Point one at 0.1, but we need some saves if we want to win the series, and he needs to be better.

they can stick him on the third pairing then buy him out after a couple of years.

You can tell me, you, and Cleetus clearly have similar views on many things lolThe carbon taxes have no impact on them. Leafs are making our groceries even more expensive burning those tapes![]()
wake me up when the rebuild starts. Not going to worry until after game two.
They were shit though.
Only bright side was I wasn’t in the building.
That sucks man. Dubas has put them in a tough spot with that contract.they can stick him on the third pairing then buy him out after a couple of years.

wow. he might even be worse than matthews and marner.
If we’re lucky the biggest sports broadcaster in the USA calling out tonight’s shitshow will have the NHL not assign Wes to our games again.
22-23 is/was year one.I agree, and to think the 8 year contract begins next season for Him!
Tavares has to go sure, I like the guy but man is he ever dead weight now.the Rielly and Tavares contracts are an albatross.
at least they can get a haul trading Matthews and Marner.
for sure, need to shake things up. Send a message.Bring in Knies and Lily. More skill, more goals. Clearly we're not allowed to hit them or shove them around anyway.
I disagree that they were "ok".Not singling out this post, but this sentiment makes me a little sad. Matthews and Marner were not terrible, but the stage has been set for them to take over a series and go full throttle for a long time now and we've been waiting a full calendar year for their next big chance and they were ok. Is that enough?
Can't disagree with the rest of your comments, though.
It wouldn't be the Leafs without that. One game, and the board melts down. Epic.
IMO Marner had a bad game despite what fancy stats may say. He struggled to make clean passes that connected and often folded under pressure with poor passes or unnecessary fancy plays that quickly came back the other way. I'm a stats guy but I find the playoffs are a different beast where the interference and pace ramps up and the underlying numbers decouple from the live events happening on the ice.Weird to me people keep ripping on Matthews and Marner. The only three positives I'll take out of this:
1. Tampa's top line was complete, utter dogshit at 5v5, and they won't be getting that much PP time the rest of the series combined.
2. We'll have different refs next game.
3. William Nylander is really good at playoff hockey, and he showed up again.
One game, and the board melts down. Epic.
Tampa lost the first game of the series 5-0 last year.
