You guys shouldve won the serie already.

Your team is so much better than mine, we shouldnt be in the playoff. But im happy we will have another « saturday night » game between two of canadas best teams.

If you win it all saturday, I hope its on a Galchenyuk goal so our GM can be fired after seeing his first draft pick burrying his ass.

im pretty sure Toronto would have liked to end it in 5. But I think its good for the fans and for their experience for the next series theyll play.

Thanks but the real truth is that your team came to play and our team didn't.

It's not so much losing that disappoints as much as the fact they played poorly.

Anyway, I feel the pain for your fanbase. We also had years of bad teams. Refused to rebuild and instead kept adding bandages to the lineup.

I really hope that things turn around soon for your team. Montreal has such an incredible history and I have no doubt that you guys will be back.

But in the meantime...I still want to beat the crap out of you guys on Saturday

im sure they'll boost the artificial fan sounds to make it seem like the 2500 fans are louder than usual
if they dont use the 'fake sound' it will be much quieter than usual ...especially if we score the first 1-4 goals

If Folgino comes back Mikheyev has be to scratched, the guy puts up 0s across the board and contributes nothing but speed at this point.
Big fan of soup here but I cannot disagree. As much as we kid about his stone hands and zero finish it's no longer a cute punchline, it's a serious problem

the pinch was just SOOOO bad though ...blind pass across was an unfortunate reaction under extreme pressure, but, our standard plays and passes are too predictable and Montreal has been picking off all the little tap passes in our end, and the d to d pass Gal tried
...as soon as Bogo pinched, Montreal was cheating out of the zone already
Lol the pinch was almost perfect. Took the forward with him, kept possession, and gave us control with options.

Don't confuse a bad decision by the forward with a bad pinch.

Not agreeing here, but an interesting point I heard on 590. In the last three games they said he only faced ONE "grade A" scoring chance. Anyone have something empirical to back that up? Game 3 I know from watching a cardboard cutout could have played net really, but he was excellent Game 4, was tested I thought.
I don't seeing that being backed up by any actual stats, but we've done well to protect him.

Sites track HDCF and xGf, both would've been a lot higher than 1 cumulative over that time

Folks it is not as bad as most on here preach .. there are a few areas that need addressed but not many .. but bottom line it all starts/ends with Dubie/Keefer as their major call to change a shutdown d core and insert a rook offensive PP defenseman with a severe lack of foot speed (due to lack of proper skating development with Leafs by da way) which has caused 2 defeats in this series .. it would be all over by now if those gents had just played by da book and played Dermy .. but they make some very poor defense decisions and bottom line it will cost both of them their jobs at a young age in their careers if they don't get things right and beat Habs .. blaming Sandin is not right .. he is a kid who is just trying his best .. blame Leafs development for not improving his stride in 2 years and coaching for inserting him over his head .. his biggest issue in OHL was his stride and it is still da same issue today .. nothing has improved .. and it is da only issue keeping Sandin from da NHL .. again blame Keefer/Dubie for this colossal error in judgment .. I hope da kid is not wrecked for good

There are really only a few tweaks after that .. please remember once Sandin was benched for rest of game we were by far da better team again .. so this is entirely fixable really

Mitch can't skate straight away with any of Habs forwards except Perry and he is knows he is not strong enough on puck or man to beat Habs defenders so he must play a dipsy doodle game of hockey which really does not work in playoff hockey (regular season hockey yes it works fine) .. these issues again have been there since OHL and even much before in minor hockey for Mitch .. he needs to drop down to 4th line where he can expose people with dipsy doodle and be effective for us on counterattack .. Habs are doubling Matty .. Hyman is trying but not at full capacity yet .. he is killing our top line .. insert Foligno and we will be fine

Jumbo is too far removed from being able to contribute on ice .. he can't keep up on forecheck or backcheck .. he can't be trusted to even take a pass properly without giving it up .. he needs to take a day off ASAP

Lastly Gally did a Gally again .. this has always been his issue and it occured again .. he lacks defensive awareness and skills .. unfortunately for him now he can't be trusted again on ice late in a tie game or if we are up by 1 .. he can play with Mitch getting 4th line duty and he may be able to help us get a goal in that capacity .. put Nash on that 4th line with Mitch and Gally to protect them

Foligno Matty Hyman
Willy Kerfoot Simmonds
Mik Engval Spezz
Gally Nash Mitch

Rielly Brodie
Muzzy Holl
Dermy Bogo

I said it yesterday that the Leafs should have rolled with the same lineup that they shut the Canadiens out with 4-0.

There was no reason at all to re-insert Sandin in the lineup last night. Im not saying that Sandin is not the future of this team, but when you are trying to close out a series after a 4-0 domination the previous game. Coaching becomes simple. Play the same team with the same strategy.

Last night was on Keefe. Take the 2 goals away that Sandin gave the puck away and we won the game and series.

I hate to say I told you so, but I did.

I think it was yesterday on the Fan that one of Ben or JD made the point that Dermott or Sandin in the lineup is not the difference between the Leafs contending or not.

They weren’t wrong in the big picture but Sandin was definitely the weak link last night. Poor kid but that’s on Keefe.

I can report, than unlike yesterday morning, sports radio is no longer discussing how we will match up against the Jets.

Being the optimistic idiot that I am, yesterday I'd already moved past the Jets to TB or whoever is next.:laugh:

I don't believe that myself, the more I hear stuff like that the less I believe in all kinds of single game stats and I also think Campbell's played very well for us. Loved seeing our third goal go through the tiny hole between Price's pads, can you imagine if that one was scored on Andersen? The wailing cries would have reached the heavens.:laugh:

I really thought we were going to end it before we got to overtime. I don’t know how the puck didn’t just hit any part of Mikheyev’s body and go in with that last Nylander shot attempt at goal. Game of inches.

Marner looks like a player who knows he hasn’t scored in 16 playoff games and is trying to force the issue for his own reasons. Immature player.

Leafs typically bounce back well, I’m confident we can close is out tomorrow and we need to treat the game like it’s game 7. As for Foligno, I have no confidence in him putting together consistent games these playoffs. Columbus pulled a fast one on us.

I think the most frustrating part of last night is that MTL actually played a f***ing horrendous game. Was a major missed oppourtunity. They took what we gave them, and we gave them way too much. But realistically they gave up way more than us.

I really do feel for Sandman and Gally. Sandman especially. He was absolutely f***ing terrible and single handedly cost us the game IMO. Those 2 mistakes were extremely avoidable, and it is the difference maker. He's a very good young player, but that will cement him in the press box for a while. As it should. As for Gally, Just a horrible horrible play in OT. One of the worst giveaways I've seen in a long time. That play never makes sense to do. People blaming Bogo are completely wrong. It was an aggressive pinch yes, but he had Gally there to support. Gally had many options and chose literally the only thing he couldn't do. Mistakes happen, hard to hold a grudge when he's been so good. He'll be better next game.

That was a complete train wreck of a game for MTL IMO. They allegedly have the best defense according to their fanbase??? I'm pretty sure they have given up more breakaways and odd man rushes than any other team in the playoffs likely. Carey Price is the only reason this series isn't wrapped up already. I expect a better performance on Saturday from us, but unfortunately I expect the same from the Habs. We gave them life, now we actually have to finish them off when they might play their best game. Cause yesterday was no where close to a good game for them. I got faith this group will get it done, Chins up Leafs Nation

the purpose of a pinch is to keep the puck in the zone.
not when there are 3 players around the puck that are going the other direction, and then softly pass it back to the last player already under pressure.
Had Gal had a second to make the pass to the slot, he would have looked the hero, but, he didnt have enough time and the pass went across instead if into the slot.
there were 3 players around Bogo, with Suzuki already in Gal's pants by the time the puck was on his stick, and he was facing the wrong way, and stationary because of the soft pass. his best chance may have been to try to freeze it on the boards, but Suzuki was on him and going the other way, and could have easily chipped it past him for a break anyways. ...it was a horrible no-win play from Bogo. it just made Gal the one who ultimately took the horns.
they were both bad plays, but, one error was a result of the previous one.

He's got the easy play which is a chip down the boards and that keeps possession

He's got a hard play to the boards, where he has an angle on Suzuki and Kerfoot open infront. This is the strong and most lucrative play

He also has a soft dump to Kerfoot in the slot, it's the trickiest play, but doable and doesn't need to be perfect.

He could also try a blind spinning 360 across his body to the area where the Habs are currently skating.

Yeah, he made a stupid decision after a pinch Gave him a good opportunity to make a play. Were in good offensive and defensive position from the pinch. A poor choice by Gally cost us

Dude you were outplayed for most of every single game in this series .. you capitalized on 1 kids weakness in skating and won 2 games .. once that kid is out of lineup you got no one to squeeze

It’s just that it’s so frustrating being a Leafs fan sometimes. Every time we had a chance to close out a team recently, we saw this team lose. Sometimes even in spectacular fashion. It’s like we can taste the 2nd round, but we can’t touch it.

I expect a better game Saturday, but they really have no choice.

- Dermy in for Sandin. It really made no sense to sit your best rush defender against a rush-offense.
- 34/16 have to breakthrough
- Play 88 more
- I know a lot of people liked Brooks in the regular season, but I think he's 'just a guy'.
- Hopefully Foligno is good-to-go
- Wishful thinking, but sit Jumbo. At the very f***ing least, get him off PP1.

At the end of the day, these guys want it as bad as we do. Just have to trust the process and recognize that these guys are human as well. They come up short just as you and I do. I really think they had a bit of nervous energy early on that cost them 2 early goals and then dominated the remainder of the game. I really think Saturday they will get it done. They know they are better, they know MTL is hanging on by a thread. They'll get it done, we just have to be patient

if he wasn't fast, would he even be in the AHL? i don't even know

Players like him are the hardest to manage. They always show that they can do more and Mikhayeve is an honest worker.
But also doesn't bring enough to take you to the next level. We had Kapanen with same capabilities yet couldn't put it together

in 31 playoff games Kapanen has 10 points. Is that enough to give him quality minutes? it's the same with Mikaheyev
Sure they are a threat with their speed but really doesn't bring much at all otherwise

If he did nothing else but use his speed and size to hit, I would be ok with that. Yet he doesn't

Leaf Fans,

Carey Price got in your heads. Now you are in doubt.

Stop doubting.

The Leafs should win this series.

The fact that you chose the word "should" vs "will" shows that the element of doubt exits in your mind as well. With two shots to win the series ahead of us, somebody is does not doubt that Toronto will win the series doesn't use words like "should".
