I haven't been impressed with Marner this playoffs. He seems very....weak I dunno
The dude hasn't scored a playoff goal in like 16 straight games. It's absolutely pathetic. Even more pathetic that there are so many people okay with that and will make any excuse they can to defend the reality.

11m for this production while averaging like over 25 mins a night. No where to be found when we need him the most and has yet to show he can produce against top lines in the playoffs. Keefe's obsession with Marner is a bit too much right now.

Matthews has not been good either. Points in only two of the 5 games, 1 goal. C'mon.

Leafs were not crisp all night, which gave Montreal a chance to get their forecheck going. Also, they were not winning the 50/50 battles. If they fix those two things, Saturday will probably look a lot more like games 3 and 4.

Obviously Dermott needs to come back into the lineup. Sandin wasn't benched for disciplinary reasons, he was benched because Keefe lost confidence in him.

And I think it's time to "go nuclear" with the PP, which means breaking up Matthews and Marner. My first unit would be Matthews, Nylander, Spezza, Gally, and probably Rielly. Second unit, Matthews, Marner, Hyman, Muzzin, and somebody. (So technically Matthews and Marner would still be together, but not for the prime minutes.)

its nice that everyone wants to blame sandin for the loss but why not blame the 2 elite guys on toronto. matthews and marner (although with some nice chances) havent done shit since game one. they get paid to put points on the board. if they want to be top guys in the league they should have been beating up on montreal. no excuses. they need to do a lot better.

and stop with the fancy f***ing passes (from everyone) and put the puck on the f***ing net.

Keefe prefers to pull a Babcock and play favorites instead.

Looked like we didn't wanna get hurt.
Seems like the typical game of a team not really ready - TBH.
Montreal ---- Montreal made them think about collecting pucks in danger areas

Kinda worry about Hyman too - never thought I'd say it (even with injury) - but he's not even close to himself. zero puck protection and board work.

Hope they can find another gear.

If Joe doesn't come out ----i really have no words

Disappointing game for sure. We had a Habs team that looked defeated, unable to score and seemingly just waiting for the end and handed them 4 goals and a win on a silver platter. Just a solid defensive game and we win game 5 with ease instead the Habs will have hope and energy for a game 6 that will almost certainly be their best performance of the series.

Not gonna go into to specific players as its pretty obvious who's costing us goals against and who's failing to deliver goals for.

I don't want to be overly critical on our players. We always jump on their backs way too early but having said that, they can be better.
I can't help but wonder if we're going to have any drastic changes for next season.

31 pages of fear and angst.

this is why a guy like Thornton is probably the most important in that room right now.

whatever bad juju is going on with the franchise in Round 1 or in deciding games... he’s super important in getting them to think positively.

Am I still the only one who thinks that OT goal was deserving of an offside review?

looked awfully close and we never got a close up look of puck and skate.

just saying.

if that was his best game. then sheesh, we got a lot to be concerned about when it comes to marner.
he did NOT look even close to his regular season self in the last game.

he's great at the PK tho.
Marner still hasn't figured out that during the playoffs the amount of ice space and time to make a decision before the opposition is on top of you shrinks considerably. Holding onto the puck for two seconds before being forced to make a decision during the regular season now becomes one second in the playoffs.

Definitely sire. And yeah Big Joe is key. With our other new thugs simmonds and foligno and bogostick. They HARD as dirt. I don't think Joe should be playing in the first pp unit, that's malhotras and keefes fault, not MINE. Joe should play on the on the second PP. Not on the first. Even the sharks didn't play with joe in the first during their last 1.5 years. Think about that, hard sire. everybody else too suckas. We ROCK THE ICE HOCKEY WORLD STILL. Have the best thugga lineup. Simmonds almost killed it last night, that post was so cleclose.

I just pray they are half as pissed off at this loss as I am.

Matthews needs to be the best player on either team on Saturday. No excuses he needs to bring his A+ game and be the difference maker he is paid to be.

If he can't do it I'm sure Price is eager to show why he's paid 8 figures.
Not that I expect either to happen, but, I have more faith in Matthews stepping up than Marner. Can't believe the team is paying $22 mil for this nonsense.

Mitch proving that he fleeced Dubas and screwed our cap. Hopefully the spin masters fanboys will now stop defending the contract and preaching that we do not have a cap problems.

Lose this series now and Dubas, Shanny, Keefe and Mitch need to go. Gally may also need another change of scenery.

The bolded seems a tad drastic

Never crossed my mind but it would not cost them anything. Worth a try I guess.

That one hurt but I'm still not overly worried. We shot ourselves in the foot on every goal.

Clean it up and we will be fine come game 6
