Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose 4-3 OT in game 5

Ironically this is a good thing. Now they got some more pressure and stress to deal with to prepare them for the real tests in round 2 vs. the Jets. Jets get a little more rust while the leafs hit the second round running and battle hardened. 50/50 for game 6 but they will close it out game 7 for sure.

You don't need to try to make a play if you don't have one...just eat it along the boards, or slide it up along the boards to the corner...you simply cannot make that pass...even if Muzzin gets the pass, he's under pressure by Caufield and could still turn it over.

Blows my mind that people think making a high risk pass is better than eating it on the wall

Just defending a former Habs 3rd overall a bit, he’s had a great series for you guys- pretty much been your most dangerous forward other than Nylander. The leafs have been so good at maintaining possession in the ozone this series, I think it was just about time we jumped one of your passes and took it the other way.
Leafs have struggled with Blueline decisions all series. It's how they lost Game 1.

Gally's been fine on the whole and was great last game. This is just one of the worst turnovers in OT I can recall. Shit happens, but a blatant mistake with two basic, common, simple plays infront of you isn't a "not his fault situation". It's a bad mistake that cost this team the game.

2 guys were with Bogo in the corner, Nylander was by himself behind the net. Put it around the glass and let Nylander chase it down OR eat it on the wall and wait for support
Just shovel it down the boards. It's what 90% if the league would do, the other 9.9% takes it hard down the wall.

Another stupid blind/drop pass at the opposing blue line cost the Leafs the game. I'm tired of seeing stupid plays like this costing games. The next player who does that should be banishesd to the pressbox. This better be over on Saturday, because it SHOULD of ended tonight

I think any offensive minded player makes the same play there, and I think whether it had been Marner or Matthews or Nylander, the result would have been the same. I think we’ve seen the leafs being so damn good at completing these passes maintaining possession in the ozone that the Habs were bound to steal one and take it the other way eventually. It’s the risk of playing a possession style game.

There are no sure things until it gets done, unless we're talking about death and taxes...they should be concerned about the Habs, not the Jets...though I'm hopeful for a Leafs victory in game 6.

Yes. I think the Leafs were lucky to win the 3 games the did.

Now it is a mental game for the Leafs, all the pressure is on them to win. With Carey Price making all the big saves and Campbell having a shaky game tonight…the Leafs are in deep!
I think the Leafs were lucky to be in the NHL.

They've been good when they don't make those type of decisions and honestly, it was a horrific decision. You can "think" they do the same, but the truth is they don't make that play, let alone in that situation. It's a misread with a player trying to do too much. The Leafs have taken those pucks deep routinely for the majority of the series and when they haven't it has bit them. And with that said, none have been blatant as we saw tonight from Gally.

Here's hoping he bounces back from that with a great game Saturday, but it's just poor hockey from him on the play

Well Nylander and Marner are right handed so they’d probably rifle it down the boards

It’s unbelievable how being a leaf fan makes even the most optimistic amongst us a cynic. I just can’t get myself to trust this team and the way Matthews and Marner have struggled offensively (outside of Matthews game 2), just makes it so hard for me to believe they will find a way to win. They are much better then the habs which is why it’s so disappointing.

Still very confident we will win the series, but very happy that I looked at the score when I woke up instead of having to go through the Rollercoaster of emotions you guys must have gone through watching it live. I am moody enough about this result already. Lets win it in Montreal.

I didn’t check the score but I did start fast forwarding once it was 3-0, then watched them tie it in the third. Then that overtime...

Last game was his best, which is why you were rightfully called out.

if that was his best game. then sheesh, we got a lot to be concerned about when it comes to marner.
he did NOT look even close to his regular season self in the last game.

he's great at the PK tho.

Just finished watching. Why can’t we have nice things?

that was gritty coming back from down 3-0, brutal way to lose after that. We just took their best shot and we were going to win that. No stress man, we win Saturday

This loss is 100% on the useless coach.

Leaving Matthews and Marner out for 1.5min to 2min+ shifts is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. THAT’S why they’re so ineffective. Because they’re exhausted halfway through their shifts and it takes too long to recover.

Benching a rock solid defenceman like Dermott while Sandin continues to cough up brutal turnovers is inexcusable.
