Guys guys guys, no need to fire anyone. We lost 1 game lol.

It's remarkable how the same people calling for Dubas'/Shanny's/Keefe's heads are the exact same people demanding that this team stay focused and get it done Saturday lol. The dichotomy between demanding focus and composure from the players we support vs. the lack of composure some people are showing on here after 1 loss is f***ing hilarious. Like thank god these players have the ability to rationalize the night in a constructive way. They are not thinking the ship is sinking, this is every bit a part of this playoff story that they are writing. Just like the tragic injury to JT and the terrible G1 loss.

Let's shelf these negative discussions if/when the worst case scenario happens. The boys still have 2 opportunities to get the job done. Lets give them the support they deserve

This narrative would also be a lot different this morning if Simmonds didn't hit the post on that shot early in the 1st, just saying.

Technical point - he actually hit Price, went off him and then hit the post. Jeez that sucked so bad, I'm such a huge Simmonds fan and that was a great play that deserved a better outcome. And you're so right, different game if that goes in.

Ah i thought it was clean post, but yeah point still stands. I expect a win Saturday so I’m not worried about it.

2500 people is nothing in an arena that size. You'll barely notice fans tbh.
I hope that you're right, I've been to the Hamilton Bulldog games that only have 4,500 fans and it can get loud and these are Montreal fans. I think that it's a huge advantage. Maybe Ontario will allow fans in Toronto if there's a game 7, bit let's hope that there isn't one.

We can do a lot to silence that place

Don't see it happening with three days notice.

spezza with 8 minutes of ice time compared to soup's 13 minutes is another keefe mistake not talked about much.
I do like mikheyev playin sire. He defensively sound and a real dogg for life sire. Better than most of our fools and goons. So mikheyev will, and keep on playing that over 14 min. Spezza though, should get that over 11 min next time. That, I agree Lord.

So we are gonna throw everything out the window and fire the entire management team because select players didn't show? I didn't say moving Marner was dramatic, I'd be fine with it, but firing everyone is overkill.

Well, you have to imagine that if we blow this series, major, and I mean MAJOR changes would have to happen. Perhaps firing the entire management team would be overkill. But, a potential retool wouldn't be.

I wouldn't be opposed to a retool. I'd try and move Marner, and reallocate cap space with Freddy leaving too. Give his money to Hyman and a backup for Campbell. Replace Kerfoot since he's probably gone in ED unfortunately, flip Marner for someone in the Nylander tier preferably with a bit of edge and someone Kapanen-esque (Elias Lindholm + Andrew Mangiapane + maybe Valimaki or another D?).

MAYBE flip Rielly, but I'd personally probably keep him, he rebounded really well in the 2nd half. But try and sign him before next season starts to a 7x7 deal or something similar.

Who's in charge of damage control here?

Tough day even though TOR leads the series, and almost won last night despite not having their best game.

No one is safe on the Leafs today: Chuck, Matthews, Dubas, Equipment Manager, Ford, etc. Even Babcock is getting his despite not being part of the organization anymore.

Whoa. Go easy.

OHL arenas are smaller, noise gets amplified. 2500 fans is definitely more fun than 0 noise wise, but it's in a big barn, and tickets are so expensive it won't be drunk college kids you have, it'll be rich people. Drunk college kids is what tends to make OHL games so loud. I don't think it'll be a huge advantage at all, more just a fun add for both teams.

Other than Nylander, I'm not happy with the star power on this team. You could hardly tell that they're the current top 5 point getters in the regular season. For the amount of money they are getting, we deserve better results.

If a 3-2 lead in the 1st round makes you nervous, just wait until the later rounds

Definitely not the way you want to start the game, but the team actually battled back and that's a huge thing.

At no point yesterday did I think the game was so out of hand that they wouldn't have a chance to come back. And they did.

It was a terrible way to lose the game, but I'm confident in this team still. Clean up the 3 turnovers that turned into goals and this game is a lot closer.

I guarantee the guys in the room are thinking the same thing - bad start, but came back and didn't give up and lost on a bad play early in OT.

They know they are the better team and will come out stronger on Saturday.

I agree completely, nice post. And speaking of doubleshifting your best player, throwing Nylander out there with Spezza seems like an easy way to get him some more ice time which he so obviously should be getting IMHO.
I agree there is so many options they can do. Montreal is not a good team and the Leafs are making them look a helluva lot better than they are. This series should've been over 2 games ago.

the purpose of a pinch is to keep the puck in the zone.
not when there are 3 players around the puck that are going the other direction, and then softly pass it back to the last player already under pressure.
Had Gal had a second to make the pass to the slot, he would have looked the hero, but, he didnt have enough time and the pass went across instead if into the slot.
there were 3 players around Bogo, with Suzuki already in Gal's pants by the time the puck was on his stick, and he was facing the wrong way, and stationary because of the soft pass. his best chance may have been to try to freeze it on the boards, but Suzuki was on him and going the other way, and could have easily chipped it past him for a break anyways. ...it was a horrible no-win play from Bogo. it just made Gal the one who ultimately took the horns.
they were both bad plays, but, one error was a result of the previous one.

His best play was probably to "accidentally" let the puck cross the blue line and then go offside, to end the play.

But that's with the luxury of having time to think about it. In game two, both Sandin and Matthews had plays where they just barely held the line on the PP, but if they hadn't, would have been a breakaway the other way. Game of inches sometimes.

How much value are we getting from Marner and Matthews? Their awful play cannibalizes on the Leafs PP opportunities, and they’re not converting during even strength play. This quality of play isn’t worth $10m a year for one of them, let alone split even between the two.

Matthews has been a beast defensively...yeah it would be nice for him to pit a few but I like his game he’s being physical and taking care of his own end
