Jesse,

I remember people involved with the Kings doing interviews with the guys I mentioned (Joe McDonnell & Hacksaw) and this was pre-cup Kings hockey, when the team was absolutely horrible.
I remember it to. What did it lead to? Today.

Yes. People have been trying to pretend that it wasnt the case for decades but the reality it is and always was the case.

Why do we all know who Dancing Boy is?

Because in the 90s there were enough empty seats for a random fan to DANCE AROUND AN ENTIRE SECTION.

I was a season ticket member for decades giving away tickets was near impossible.
Were those men just killing radio segments for no reason? Idk, maybe they were, but why can't that be done now?
Yes.

Media changed. Radio is dead. Print is dead. Social media rules and theres zero money in it.
And if it's not realistic in the LA Market, why not go on a national podcast or do an interview with someone like Eric Stephens of the Athletic to answer some of the valid concerns of the fanbase?
They don't have to.
Why is it always the same places? And you can't sit here and say that it's only this forum that shares the concerns, you can see from the comments on the teams socials that many fans are concerned with the direction the team is going, do these fans (who follow the team on socials and discuss them extensively here) just not matter?
Because nobody else cares.

I once had a conversation with a local radio host who said when they did a Kings segment their calls SPIKED. They were FLOODED with calls.

From people telling them to stop talking about hockey.
We are eight seasons in, with zero playoff series wins and no better than 3rd place finishes in the division, I think it's reasonable to expect some tougher questions to be answered by the people running the Kings.
Expect whatever you want but if you expect something you won't get that's on you for being unhappy about it all the time.

Yeah, but they’ve also taken LAKingsInsider from hiring a dedicated veteran no-nonsense beat writer who was given full access to the GM to hiring a media guy who was occasionally critical of the team to hiring some kid to play locker room stenographer while also having members of the marketing team writing articles on the site. There’s zero chance that the market is telling them not to have interviews with Blake on there and what people REALLY want to read are 5,000 word articles on a logo change.

Helene is done because the LA Times is done. I'll probably get in trouble for saying this if anybody bothers to read it but the LA Times hasn't TRULY covered the team since 2007 and hasn't even tried to fake it since the let Jack Harris go cover baseball.

All of the hated "PRAVDA" media is a direct response to local "legacy" media actively folding tents in 2007. You can go back and read the history of the thing in various places.

I've been fighting this fight in the halls of LA Kings fandom/employment for years... LA is not a hockey market.

I regret saying all of that.

Hope you are doing well Jesse. Keep kicking cancers ass. When you’re finished with that I hope you treat yourself to something special. Wish the Kings could give you a little better hockey to watch during this time.

It's sad that this team would probably be so much better if Blake did (almost) nothing. Could have let Kopitar and Doughty play the mentor roles and slowly transitioned over to the young guys like Faber and Villardi. Sigh...

Maybe the Kings should move to Quebec City.

How many posters on this board no longer live in the city or attend games but still visit this site or Insider despite the endless complaints of reduced quality?

The market isn't telling them what to do it's telling them what they don't NEED to do.

That PGP is gross. And the comments on this on the Kings' Facebook post on this are (literally) unanimously negative regarding the service itself.

I really wish the Kings would follow the Ducks' lead RE: the Victory Network setup (possible financial implications aside - which means that it almost certainly won't happen!)

The Ducks are one of the lowest rated teams when it comes to broadcast and revenue, so moving to a streaming service seems more desperate than forward thinking , in order to have more control and $$ coming in. Dallas did it because there was so much uncertainty with their own RSN they couldn't wait. It's a very big risk to jump to a new platform which could go under at any moment from lack of ad revenue. From what I've read, the Kings still have one of the most profitable tv deals in the NHL with FD . Their production quality is still really good, although I wished they'd use a few more cameras and get more creative with different viewing angles.

I'm glad you touched on how much of a f***ing joke the LA Times has become. When I was growing up, it was Helene's articles that kept me engaged and up to date on all things Kings (pre forum days). There's no way on earth I'll ever support that trash publication again unless they change owners, and even then they'll forever be tainted in my eyes. Corporate controlled media just cannot be trusted in this day and age.
