I get it. Coach is easiest to replace. You can't get rid of the talent. But you can try with another coach. A lot of you know I'm not the biggest Babcock fan.

But to see our high-end talent just tuning him out, not playing for the crest on front is very disappointing. Replacing Babcock is easy. But is that what we want to teach our young players? "If things don't go your way, or you don't believe in coach, just stop playing and we'll find someone else?"

What happens if they tune out the next coach in a few years? Get rid of him too?

Shanahan has to have a heart-to-heart with our key guys. He can get through to them. He's played the game.

I can't believe I'm defending Babcock a bit, but what these players are doing is not right. Really bad mentality. I liked Kerfoot's post game presser. That's what a pro sounds like. Anyway. We'll see what happens. I don't see them firing Babcock. Atleast not yet.

Defense gets played in the offensive zone cycling the puck, forchecking forcing turnovers and back tracking. The defensive zone is survivor mode for all teams in the NHL in complete reliance of the goaltender making saves.

The Leafs mainly the skilled forwards are inconsistent with there compete that translate into playing defense in the defensive zone which is the true culprit to this teams struggles defensively.

So far this year the 3rd and 4th lines have been playing winning hockey and just about all the D men look good with them ever wonder why?

There's a steep learning curve going on right now with our top guys... Babs isn't protecting them anymore and you know what? It's going to get worst before it gets better because it's not Babs that's stubborn. It's the core players not named Tavere's who don't get it and they're about to learn it the old fashion way by means of loosing to get on board to put there compete ahead of before even think of scoring goals.

The forwards don't defend and Rover type offensive defenseman get exposed

I agree, Shanny played the game and has won would be a good place to start!, if this play continues I think Babs will be toast pretty soon, like you said its the easiest to replace, interesting times ahead for sure

Our best players havent been here more than 3 months. Theyre better without Babs system. Thats the Coach.

We have been playing worse and worse when more and more of Lou style guys are off the team. Now its like 100% a Dubas team and the coach is absolutely Clueless. CLUELESS.

Babs doesnt know a Defensive system if it doesnt involve godlike Defensive players.
He is the epitome of the wrong guy to coach this team filled with offensive skaters.

We hired a Rally Car driver, and we expect him to win a championship in a F1 car.

Thats what we are seeing before our eyes.
Switch the Coach while this season is salvageable. Dubas this is YOUR team. Right the F***ing ship.

The next time Matthews throws a hit will be the first time. The fly bys are cringeworthy. Him and Nylander constant fly bys. No stops and starts. No finishing checks. Matthews has zero explosion right now. I question his level of conditioning and commitment to the game off the ice.. his incident this summer did nothing to else those concerns. He was skating in quicksand tonight.

boston clearly deserved this game. They outworked the leafs who were again a disaster in their own zone.

everyone knew we were losing this game.
Back to back. With travel.
Best 2 players. Had huge issues
1.) marners close friend died.
2.) Matthews was in court conference.

i give them a pass today. Not Boston’s fault tho. They beat the team in front of them.

the refs are STILL a joke. I mean. Muzzin gets tomahawked. Matthews gets hauled down

What if Willie signed for 5mil, AM signed for 8.5mil and MM signed for 7.5mil. If they still play like the way they are, that’s still crap.
We can all blame their contract this and contract that, or how we could have signed so and so if only they take less money... Truth is that the team is under performing big time and I don’t another 1 or 2 or even 3 more 3-4mil player can help them. Pls don’t say so and so is signed for that.... bc those players might not come to play for the Leafs. The savings most likely means Marleau is still on the team. And maybe McBackup
This team should be winning and dominating but they are not.
Pretty sure none of us will have any problems if the team is 11-0 or 10-0-1 or 10-1 despite those guys having huge contracts.
Getting the W and winning 16 games in the playoffs should be the most important thing.
The problem is not just the players but also Babs and MGT. Babs needs to think of a way to let them play to the players best. Dubas needs to sort the team out, a little shape up is needed, the team is too young and too raw to compete in the league.

This has been my view since the 2018 playoffs. Babs is a good coach, but he is, in my opinion, the wrong coach for this team. Last year this team played some dreadful, sloppy games. This year it seems to be more than half of their games. Players this good shouldn't play this bad. So, to me there is two real options - either these players are much worse than most of us think, or these are players who simply are not built to succeed the way Babcock wants them to play. If its the former the team is screwed. If its the latter a change in the coach should go a long way. Dubas was allowed to build his team - that makes no sense if he is not allowed to bring in the coach who meshes with what Dubas has built.

It’s the damnedest thing I’ve ever seen. The Goat just takes crosscheck from Marchand and never said a word back. It’s mind boggling.

I’m speculating but I think Barrie was taken by surprise when he was hit in preseason and no one came to his defence. I think he’s said something in the room and it ruffled feathers.

I'm glad I'm not going crazy and not the only one noticing. It's like these guys didn't grow up playing hockey on this planet but in an alternate reality where everyone just gives hugs and drinks at every whistle to their opponents all game. I've never seen a more gutless team to be honest. How can this team be like this when 30 other teams aren't?? It can't just be the players. It's the same NHL players from the same leagues everyone else has
