The question though remains!

Would there be any "respect" in that handshake?

Keefe would like to know

Handshake champions 8 years in a row.

Well earned. I bet that's why they all sign short overpriced contracts. This year they all shaking Nylander's hand like crazy with congratulations. It was Matthews before that and you know we'll be unbeatable when it comes to handshakes after Marner signs his abomination.

You have to be ultra-competitive.

Keefe is killing me. He thinks our compete level is solid, it's just the rest of the league is plus ultra :D. Man, you can't make this sh*t up.

Core 4 should be still doing mandatory post game drills...

During Jagrs jersey retirement ceremony they showed highlights from their SC wins. Jagr and Lemieux took so much abuse, every highlight, players slashing Mario, hanging on Jagrs jersey while not slowing them at all :D

Talent alone is just not enough.

That was likely a preview of the Leafs first round
Likely open on the road and likely will mirror Monday nights effort

When doesn’t Brodie get caved?
Brodie and lilligren just got barbecued by the Bruins

Big money Leafs big money flops.

I think we all know what we got here. A bunch of pretenders acting like contenders. But really they're not.

When the going gets tough these softies fold faster than my mom on meds.

They don't have what it takes to compete. A real contender shows up every game. They play hard and actually, you know, compete.

This collection of no-shows only play hard when the competition is easy.

Boston went to work last night. Leafs, not so much. One of these teams is considered among the best in the game with a real chance to win the cup.

The other is the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Meanwhile.................the core players, keep getting raises, and taking more of the cap.

I'm normally very critical of this team, and how previous management made error after error after error, but after last night, I saw what I needed to see. We are definitely beating Boston in the playoffs this year. They can't match us and we play the right style of game to deal with them.

Bookmark this, get yourself some bets on and thank me later boys.

You beat me to it, pages in and not a peep from Nostradamus……….
Huh? I replied to a bunch of your posts last night, no? I'm not a big fan of posting during the game because it's usually a gong show in the gameday thread.

Games like these are tough because Boston keeps losing their good players to retirement, and yet they find ways to bring new guys and buy into this special way they play with a lot of pace and grit and the Leafs have this goup of talented players who bring neither. I think Knies stood out to me last night, he was always in the battle. He makes rookie mistakes, but he was in there.

The easiest way to summarize this group's continued failure year after year:
They simply aren't.

Tampa got smoked by Columbus and realized they had to play nasty to win. They won.
Florida got called out by their coach, they started to play nasty and they went to a Cup final.

Competitive players realize that if what they're doing isn't working, they find a way. Any way. Even if it means nice guys playing dirty.
This core - none of them - have that. And that is why there is zero chance this group is going anywhere in the playoffs again this year, next year or the year after, as long as this core is here.

This is why I wanted Perry. You need these players that f*ck with the opposition. Even between whistles. Drag them into the fight

How do you look at a single game and come to this conclusion? Even more mysterious that it was a loss.

Hopefully come playoff time that is Domi, Reaves, Bertuzzi, Knies

I thought Brodie - Liljegren and the Domi line really got exposed last night.

Matthews and Marner were quiet

I thought the Tavares line, JT especially, had a good game.

My optimistic self knows that regular season head to head results are meaningless when looking ahead to playoff success, so time to move on

Lots of good things to take away from the game despite the cliff jumpers in here. Swayman was amazing in net for the Bruins tonight, that's for sure and I thought Woll was solid too.

Really, the big issues to me were the Lily/Brodie pairing from the very first shift (and it's not just on Brodie) and the second line getting caved in again.

Take those 2 things away and the other lines/pairings got the better of the Bruins on the night, outhitting them and mostly outworking them on the boards. (Only 2 players on the Leafs had 0 hits in the game....Domi and Nylander)

I could see a shakeup of the 2nd and 3rd lines coming soon and people will whine and cry when we go back to the more effective lines.

The Matthews line was pretty effective in generating good chances but couldn't get one past Swayman. The just getting a piece with his glove save on Knies just before the 2nd goal was the big turning point in the game.

Bad games in the blueline from Rielly, Brodie and Liljegren.

Good games from Boosh and Benoit.

McCabe was OK
