Here we go again with the lesson learned. We are heading towards another first round exit.

Well, at least John Tavares scored and has 2 of the last Leaf goals... baby steps and whatnot after the kind of struggles he's had the past couple of months. But when you're approaching 1100 games, I think you should know the curriculum by heart and not be learning any regular season game lessons.

Probably an off-season thing at this point, too close to the end of regular season.
I mean, there is also the fact that his team has won something like 16 of their last 19 games. That kind of record generally doesn't get coaches fired.

One day the Leafs will be better than the Bruins but that day is not today.

Technically Nylander's NMC doesn't kick in until July 1st.

Which something to consider if the 1st round looks this game tonight.

I was under the same impression before. But that old clause is voided.

The new clause automatically has Full NMC/NTC. Just go check it out on capfriendly if you don't believe me

Was there any explanation of the goaltending decision? Unless they go back to Woll for the Buffalo game (which I guess is possible), are they really going to ease Woll back in by playing him in both Boston games?

This is the organization that thinks "goalies are voodoo" so of course they're going to be idiots.

Strangest decision I've seen in a while. One guy comes off a pretty stellar performance while you are trying to ease the other guy back from injury, and now you're choices are to play the recently injured guy two games in a row on a day's rest, or play him against Boston twice in a row while the other guy gets the easier assignment against Buffalo? I don't get it. It will all be fine if the Leafs win both games, but it seemed like such an easy decision to start Samsonov in this game, and then either give Woll the Buffalo game or save him for the second Boston game.

Liljegren is a kind of D you'd gladly staple a first round pick and other sweeteners to another team for a comparable defenseman in age who was brought up in a different program, has a more competitive personality. He has his good traits, his skills look like they haven't been fully tapped but talk about another nice quiet guy personality who was developed in our skills only developmental system, who is going to have his lunch money stolen in a big game.
I would exercise a bit of patience with Liljegren at least for a couple more years and then see what happens.

reason:

Rielly played about 300+ games before his breakout season
Liljegren has played about 183 games

If they boys think they can sucker the Bruins into thinking they will just lay dead in the playoffs by playing way below standards this game and the next, they are really naive.

At this point, I'd try to trade Samsonov, Knies, and our 1st round pick to Calgary for Markstrom and Weegar.

I might even substitute Woll for Samsonov if I had to !!!

We need D and a sound goalie very bad.

I'm not even sure if our core deserves to have a decent D and goalie added. They simply DO NOT work hard enough, often enough.

Pastrnak was a force, while his buddy Nylander was a NO SHOW !!!

70 goals for Matthews just might be a pipe dream at this point.

I disagree, when the forwards are playing as high as they do on the points, they are looking to be sprung. Other team's forwards collapse down to help the defense or take away the middle. We can play high at the point if we attacked the puck with more aggression. We give too much space for attacking team to set up.

Yup.

The difference I've noticed is that opposition have no concerns with collapsing down low and then throwing the puck out or dumping it in and chasing after it.

Leafs are so hell bent on zone entries that they are bound to cheat for offense that puts a lot of pressure on our D-men and goalies. Especially since we don't have vezina caliber goalies

I think AM will have a breakout game on Thursday as he hasn’t been scoring in a few games.
