Whelp, there goes our (realistic) shot at home ice advantage :/ Really needed to beat the Bruins both tonight and Thursday to have a good shot at passing them.

We've had some big duds at home this year and were complete ass in the playoffs last year

The team seems more composed on the road, so it wouldn't be too bad not having home ice for once.

I'm pretty sure their power play has been near best in the league since Jan 1.

I should clarify. A powerplay that can’t score against our likely playoff opponent. 0/7 in three games against the Bruins and tonight they looked like a peewee team against the Bruins while on the powerplay.

No it hasn’t. 6 points ahead. One losing streak and they can fall right there again.
I think it's unlikely that the Leafs will go on an extended losing streak and that one of Tampa or Detroit will go on an extended winning streak. Look at their record over the last 20 games.

Matthews needs to score a couple of goals against the bruins on Thursday. He can't just live off the Buffalo's and Anaheim's of the league.

It'd be nice if one of the rotating cast of talking heads would do some analysis besides "work hard, win puck battles, 110%" and "talented players are good when they play well".

1st goal against - Rielly follows his check from the goal line past the crease to the other side, while Lyubushkin's covering nobody and retreating back to the same spot. Rielly doesn't notice Zacha coming down what should be his side of the ice and camping in front of Woll. Holmberg was within a step or two of Zacha but noticed too late. What's Keefe's system here? Is it zone, man, hybrid, ??? Whichever it is, total failure.

2nd goal - Nylander double-teams Liljegren's check on the PK. WTF? No shit there's somebody wide open in the slot.

3rd goal - It's a 3-on-3 coming back and again somehow there's an unmarked Bruin at all times. Matthews chases the puck, doesn't end up disrupting either the pass or the shot, while Liljegren loses his balance trying to pivot to face DeBrusk and makes an absolutely awful attempt to block the shot.

4th goal - By the time the goal is scored all five Leafs are down below the hashmarks yet they can't stop a passing play between just two Bruins forwards (oh and the third was left open half the time). Slightly unlucky that the puck bounced off Liljegren's skate like that but he's the one who angled it that way. That play probably amounts to nothing if Brodie stays on LD and lets Liljegren switch to cover Pastrnak coming around instead of uselessly chasing him behind the net. Is this all according to Keefe's plan? Who knows.

It's not even effort here, on all of these goals players were not dogging it, refusing to backcheck or anything. It's pretty much all poor decision making.

For this gamenight/day we should have switched Nylander with his brother 😁

Getting sweeped by Bruins(will happen) is not good. Whatever the gameplan is, it aint working. Or the players aint buying it.

The Leafs big boys do not have the same hatred of losing. To the Bruins, the Leafs are a hated opponent who they love to get up and play against. To the Leafs, the Bruins are the same as any other opponent on a sleepy Monday night game. They simply do not care on the level that other teams do. It's always been that way and after 7+ years, I'm no longer expecting it to change. They are what they are.
The way we play the Bruins is indicative of a trauma response. The game is lost before it even starts.

Big money Leafs big money flops.

I think we all know what we got here. A bunch of pretenders acting like contenders. But really they're not.

When the going gets tough these softies fold faster than my mom on meds.

They don't have what it takes to compete. A real contender shows up every game. They play hard and actually, you know, compete.

This collection of no-shows only play hard when the competition is easy.

Boston went to work last night. Leafs, not so much. One of these teams is considered among the best in the game with a real chance to win the cup.

The other is the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Considering how well we have played in the last 10 games, you know you are due for a stinker... and sometimes these games are necessary to get that focus back. I've always been a fan of getting that timely loss that shakes everyone up and reminds them that in this league nothing will come easy you need to stay on top of it.

I am very curious to see how they will react to the back to back game in Boston. They need to avenge, and this will be a good test to see if they can do the same to the Bruins that the Bruins did to them on their home ice.
