The team needs a cultural reset and it got to start from the top.
As much as I like what Dubas did, he needs to go. But he won’t bc he still got one last bullet which is trade away a piece of the core.
As much as Marner being the odd man out, it will be Willie bc of this past 7 games and someone will overpay for Willie.
Do you trust him to make a trade do we trust him to draft next week will it be a team full of little Smurfs again

Nick Foligno cost a 1st and two 4ths
He had 5 assists in 11 games and one USELESS FIGHT!

Riley Nash was traded for a conditional 7th which would be upgraded to a 6th if he played 25% of games in playoffs...2/7...28.5% HOW DID HE EVEN PLAY ONE GAME!

Ben Hutton was traded for a 5th he played 4 games!

David BIG SAVE DAVE Rittich was traded for a 3rd...he is a third!

Alexander Barbanov had 7pts in 9 games for San Jose!

So a 1st, two 4ths, 5th and a 6th for 5 assists and ANOTHER first exit

Woof. It just keeps getting better.

The core needs to be gutted but we're proper f***ed with Marner and his contract.

Thanks man.

I should have slept in instead of waking up at 7 to do the freakin GDT and then rush to work.

But in Excel, we should be champs. <<<< Note the sarcasm

I was excited about this season initially, but the future is a scary prospect.

It’s quite clear you can’t just trade away your young depth and try to insulte the roster with older veterans and random league minimum contracts.

The Leafs better hope they’ve got some magic younger players ready to step in and contribute because if not, the only way out of this mess is too say goodbye to some of the high priced players that aren’t doing it for you.

If you felt good about the Leafs at the end of the season then you can't be calling for Dubas's head, he had no control over this. If not, go ahead.

BUT otherwise, every single other person is fair game and I want to see some f***ing changes.

Marner needs to go and I don't think anything is changing my mind on that. We had the blue line, we had the goalie, heck we had the head coach. We got the gritty guys and the vet experience. William Nylander - MR HOLDOUT WILLIAM NYLANDER - was our best player this series, he should be 3rd or fourth every time. Matthews can't go obviously and you don't dare move JT. Willy just had the series of a lifetime and he had no support. I don't want to see Marner in a Leafs jersey next year and at one point in time he was my favourite player.
Yeah, you can. Dubas has made all in moves 3 years in a row trading 3 first round picks. This team needed to show growth once he made the aggressive move for Tavares and created the cap-issues that needed fixing. Then he bent over backwards in the RFA negotiations for players who didn't show up in the playoffs this year. He got the coach he wanted. He absolutely is fair game, this is owned by Shanahan and Dubas.

Relax. It's the first round. This team was exposed as a complete pretender. It's not like we fell in the 3rd round to the Tampa Lightning or something. This team needs a new GM. Marner needs to go. He deserved $8 max IMO. How stoned do you have to be to pay Marner $10.9?

you move Marner for a
Where do we even go from here? We don’t have any options. No salary cap space to bring anyone in, no first rounder again, limited prospect pool. This team is now stuck under the weight of huge contracts and a flat cap. Mediocrity here we come.
You move Marner for a 7th round pick in 2029 and take his 11 million and retool the team. Marner has to go.

Disgraceful loss, one of the tougher losses you will see, up 3-1 in the series and we don't see a lead again the entire series. Management has a lot of tough questions they are going to have to answer. I think if you want to try finding "grit" they have to be able to play, Players like Jumbo Joe / Simmonds / Foilgno (Don't understand trading for someone whose hurt and can't provide much when hes hurt). You want to be able to be hard to play against in your bottom 6 and those players aren't it. Our play with skill and puck possession hasn't worked either, same results the past 4 years. Blame has to go to on Keefe for refusing to change our first line, they couldn't get anything done and he kept them together for all seven games.

Some positives notes, Nylander stepped up big for us this year in the playoffs that's a positive sign moving forward. I think our D is set up nicely, Brodie/Muzzin And Riley (some might not like him here, he has had some struggles this past year) follow with Sandin who should be a good player for us, (who also struggled at times during the playoffs, but it was also his first real nhl action all year after getting hurt for a few months.)

Totally on board with unloading Marner's albatross at this point.

This is the new rock bottom.

I’ll root for this team but I won’t believe in them until Mitch Marner & his 11m is gone (won’t happen tho); Matthews sucked too but at least his upside is much higher & he wasn’t as bad as Mitch this series.

In my books this loss is on those two, the coaching staff, & Dubas for building his team around overpaid stars who have to yet to prove anything. What a waste of a potentially great year; they went all in for a first round exit to a mediocre team.

Probably the best thing to come out of this, is that I've realized that investing this much passion into a hockey team is pretty dumb. I like hockey, so I'll take in games in the future for some entertainment. But after decades of this bullshit, and losing like this to the team I hate the most, I bleed blue and white no more. It's over.

Worst loss we've had since the Kings loss and that was for a much different reason.

Will be very interesting to see where we go from here. I'm not calling for any specifics head, other than Marner, but it has to be beyond just that move. Team needs a heart transplant

If im being totally honest, I thought we had a shot at the finals. I think this is worn 100% by Keefe, Matthews and Marner but not management, and I think a series really comes down to how hard guys want it. This was a top 5 team in the whole league and they decided not to show up.

I mean this one hurts, but like last year, this could have easily been a win at multiple points along the way and we'd all be celebrating.

There's a ton of puck luck in hockey, and we were snake bitten. Does that completely let Marner / Matthews off the hook? No, but they did generate a ton of chances, I haven't given up on them yet, give them a couple of more years and try to fill out the bottom of the roster better.

We learned Campbell is a gamer, which is worth something. Our D actually was pretty good overall, in spite of the fact that we lost Muzzin and Sandin had a few rookie learning moments.

I dunno, at the end of the day results are what matter, but this isn't like we were the Blues that got beat up by the Avs or something.

The post game show on SN590 is good. I have lost count on the use of the word 'pathetic'. Basically in agreement with most of us, absolutely inexcusable.

I would think the management team is back, but here have to be some hard questions around the PP and lack of sensible adjustment. I cannot imagine there are any good answers.

I am so interested now to see how the roster takes form for next season. Considering we go back to real divisions, missing the playoffs has to be a serious consideration.
