We had 1775 hits last year, on pace for 1676 this year.

Yes, hitting is one of the signs of toughness. We hit less this year, than last. That was predictable...
We are 4th in number of hits this year, last year we were 23rd… the additions are leading the way. As JT AM Da Real Deal noted earlier in the day, intensity picks up in the 2nd half

I mean you know that's absurd right? How is there no pressure? TV, radio, internet, Leafs fans are angry all over the place. Keefe just had to take media questions on an off day because the temperature is so hot. I'm saying don't boo the kid at home in all the all-star game because they've lost 4 in a row. That's not about pressure it's just f***ing stupid.
There is media scrutiny but zero fan pressure. None.

I still think it would be hilarious if he was booed if they limp into all-star weekend.

I am willing to give Keefe this year.
Fail to advance past the first round and it is an easy choice to remove him.

Problem being there are not as many good candidates available right now as there will be after the season.

Just last year some of the new coaches were Bruce Cassidy, Jim Montgomery, Paul Maurice, John Torts, Bowness, DeBoer.
That is a heck of a list.
Right now the list is too weak to fire Keefe IMO.
Berube and gallant and boudreau say hi

Gimme me Patrick Roy .
Now that would be something.....

It’s going to be Boucher, Shanny hires his guys and Boucher was his guy before Babcock became available.
meh

It's totally reasonable to boo him because in nitwit land everything is his fault.
I wouldn't about it though, I'm sure the majority of the crowd will be mature, reasonable people.

Anyway, All Star Game isn't tonight, they play Calgary.

Can you imagine how livid the rest of the league fans would be if we missed the playoffs and ended up with the #1 pick lol. Not saying I want him that result, just a random thought that crossed my mind

Be the Maple Leafs and lose your 5th game in a row to your GM's old team.

*A few moments later*

"In a stunning change of events William Nylander has been traded to the San Jose Sharks for Marc-Edouard Vlasic and a 1st round draft pick"

Leaf Nation celebrates because they think justice has been served.

I actually don’t think the Leafs could trade Nylander now even if they wanted to. I read somewhere his NMC took immediate effect, I don’t know if that’s possible, but apparently Friedman was talking about it, allegedly according to what I read.

Nobody is trading for that 8x11.5 anyway imo. And it’d be a terrible look on us to trade him before he plays a game of an 8 year extension unless it was a pre-agreed sign and trade situation but we know it’s not.

Would let us move on from Tavares easily in a year *barring a cheap 2-3M deal

Celebrini would be something for this team. But I think we would have to slide to 10th worst to win the lotto. Can only move up 10 slots now

Heard the same.
They didn't sign him to trade him anyway.

Expecting a big win tonight.

It's interesting were hitting leds in a season where our possession is also down

Yeah, that’s true, we’d have to fall a good ways down.

Marner to Nashville for a bunch of their picks and they move Marner somewhere for some playoff offense.

The flames are a pretty slow team from what Ive read

Huberdeau is in a funk/done
Kadri while playing great isnt fast
Lindholm good but not crazy fast

There defense is more mobile but also prone to pinch and give up stuff in front of the net with no real crease crasher

We need to play a quick speedy game. Smart passes to get clean exits when available,

use our core 3 + riellys skating to get into areas that are hard to defend

Knies+ Bert+ Jarnkrok need to be a pain in front of the net and take the goalies eyes away

This is a winnable game even with the flames being hot and us not. Boys have to come out fast and want the first goal. No sit back and let game unfold. Take it to the flames, get Jones/Samsonov comfortable and limit any breakaway/odd man rushes by being aware when transitioning to defense

maybe it was a bit of an achievement, however insignificant, to finish top 5 in the league for a few years
Insignificant? Never, just look at this shit show and that’s only been the last few games. I couldn’t hack a whole season of losing. We wanted tougher we got it, built for the playoffs….
but they do have to get in, minor detail. Lol

That's exactly what happened last Sunday against Detroit. He blended the lines, screwing around too much, and now a team that was way behind us is a point up in the standings. Regardless where you stand about firing a coach who has a decent regular season record, it's been done before (Dwayne Casey) because it was necessary. Teams stagnate hearing the same voice, particularly one who doesn't seem to have answers as he alluded to yesterday.
They should bring a new motivational speaker before every game. Toronto can afford it. New voice every game and no time to relax.
