Tre went out of his way to assure fans this team was not about the core 4 anymore but more about the team and yet this year is more about the core than at any other time.

I never understood why Leafs fans thought they were getting toughness in Bertuzzi and Domi, Neither of them have ever been that in their careers. Poking a guy in the nose after the whistle isn't the toughness this team needed. It is mental toughness that they needed, and Bertuzzi and Domi are not giants in that particular skill.

We could use more poking the guy in the nose after the whistle.. but Domi doesn't do that much either... Bertuzzi sort of...

I think the Leafs are in a slide and are unlikely to win this one. There's something going on in that room that isn't right.

Despite that, I don't think firing anyone or making a big trade is the answer.

Almost every team has its' ups and downs. I think whatever the problem is, it comes from within and they have to solve it from within.

Some things I did like from the Edmonton game was a degree of physicality. Benoit especially delivered some hard checks in the Leafs' zone. Some of the forwards also pasted some defencemen into the boards as they were clearing the puck out of the Edmonton zone. I've been waiting for that for years. I also liked when Matthews and Rielly mixed it up with McDavid at the side of the Leafs' net in the third period.

Things didn't work out, but there is something to build on there.

The sooner they straighten themselves out, the better. It can't happen soon enough.

I mean just this year we have seen the Canucks change pretty drastically under a new coach and the oilers go on a tear under new head coach and assistant in Coffey. Why couldn't it be the same for us...we have seen Keefe enough to know what he brings and so far its not enough.

We’re more of an NBA team than anything else. Starting 5 of Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander and Rielly, no goalie and a vast bench of guys who don’t matter and may as well be in track suits. That’s the kind of dynamic that is permeated.

Agree, all that NBA point guard drop off stuff makes me puke.

Because Reaves will be either be on the bench, or more likely in the press box when Question 1 or 2 happens. If you aren’t on the ice, you can’t protect anyone, and this is a guy who is bad at hockey.

Does anyone legitimately believe that Matthews and Reaves will be on the ice at the same time? Seriously?

We need useful grit/physicality. People who are on the ice when it matters.

Leafs could trade Reaves for Mcdavid and you’d still complain lol. I have lost ALL faith in this franchise. That's not gonna change any time soon either. Not until major changes are made to both the roster and management. Or, heaven forbid, they go deep into the playoffs. When they start...

And yet Simmonds was a far better skater and hockey player than Reaves. If Reaves gets more than 40 games in, or any games in the playoffs, I’ll be surprised.

Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

He's got to get Matthews signed we all know that but at this point there is not a single thing he's done that we can be heavily critical of. Bertuzzi and Domi were great signings that give the Leafs a fantastic top 6 instead of a top 4 with 2 guys you hope work out. Klingberg filled the need...

Domi is physical? In what way? He'll fight once or twice a year, and does rat things? He doesn't hit, that much is for sure.

Bunting was pesty... engaged after the whistle... Bertuzzi does too. Bertuzzi had one fight last year. Hit's far less than Bunting.

More physical... no, I just don't see it.

Bunting + Holl + Kerfoot 301 hits last year.
Domi + Bertuzzi + Klingberg 164 hits last year

Sure, there is more to physicality than hits... Some people are going to be disappointed when they actually see these guys play,

Domi has less hits than Marner. Bertuzzi has been ok... good at skating around, and sometimes forechecking. Reaves is permanently in the press box as expected.

it really wouldn't. Imagine how that would make Leafs fans look to prospective free agents in the future. There was a long period where no one good or local wanted to play here, amping up the negativity in such a public way would potentially put us on a path to bring that back.

That is a heck of a list.
Right now the list is too weak to fire Keefe IMO.
