Confirmed with Link: Leafs fire goaltending coach Steve Briere

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Hopefully the new guy will also have some ideas on how to keep the goaltenders that we have from being constantly hurt...

He was really here for 7 years?

Seems a long run for a goalie coach

Well, if he goes to a team that has good goaltending, we clain trash Dubas for firing him.

Blames everyone and every circumstance except themselves. this is next level of arrogance and politicization from this front office because it’s so blatant.

Who does that?
just watch them sell Mrazek being on the team next year cause they know what we and the league knows. it’s going to cost them significantly for Mrazek to not be on the roster next year and i think they know by now they can’t afford Campbell.

Just to show the difference a good goaltending coach can make, the Marlies team SV% with Piero Greco for his 4 years were as follows:

.915 (Gibson .921, Bibeau .913, Sparks ECHL)
.916 (Sparks .928, Bibeau .909)
.905 (Sparks .922, Bibeau .894, used 7G)
.922 (Sparks .936, Pickard .918)

The 4 years since he left:
.894 (Hutch .909, McAdam .897, Kaskisuo .896)
.889 (Kaskisuo .909, Woll .880)
.893 (Woll .892, D'Agostini .890)
.897 (Kallgren .906, Hutch .899, Woll .907)

Not a lot of difference in talent (or lack thereof) between the groups (player group as well) yet a huge difference in actual performance. The Islanders have been near the top of the league since he went there as well.

I don't care who they determine the top guy is, but find him and bring him in here.

This to me, along with Dubas statement after about doing a full scale evaluation of the goaltending department tells me Campbell is gone It's going to be an interesting off season

If Mrazek plays next year, it is because the team thinks they can win with him. Any trade sweetener is weighted against the buyout cost. Maybe they can't afford Campbell, they don't think he is worth what he might get, or what he wants in a contract is speculation. There are obviously two parties involved.

I'd love to chime in about how now would be a good time to use a high pick on a goalie.

What I'm hearing though is that this is a weak draft for goalies with nothing high pick worthy.

Still think our 3rd should be reserved for that position.

I hope we get this glaring weakness sorted.

From our distance as fans it sure looked like there was room for improvement - some of Freddie’s struggles, Mrazeks struggles, the flameout of our backups, Keene yelling at him in the Amazon train wreck series…. maybe most of all the fact that they false started with Imoo.

So hopefully some fresh blood (not Francois Alliere) comes in here and makes a difference.

I'd love for them to take a chance on Hugo Havled, the only issue with him is he's 5'10.
