Post-Game Talk: Leafs Eliminated.

I'll repeat everything should be on the table. The guys that impressed me in these playoffs are not core players. I was just looking things over and I just realized Marner also has a NMC that kicks in this summer (didn't know that). I think they're pretty handcuffed now. The only core player they can move is Nylander and even he has a limited no trade clause. The other guys all completely control their own situation. I'm up for a complete rebuild but it looks impossible under these conditions. It also seems like 70% of the guys I would keep are all UFA this summer. Basically, I wouldn't count on wholesale changes, the team is what it is for a couple of years.

If the usual suspects stick around we should be hearing this for another year along with the Tavares goal called back due to the Holl pick.
What was the final reasoning for no goal because they did show that the puck crossed the line conclusively?

I don't recall seeing a team dominating faceoffs as much as the Leafs did this series and still being handled easily in 5 losing all 3 of its home games. And their puck possession was through the roof. This series was a perfect illustration of the over-emphasis on puck possession. Give me a contest between two similar teams in terms of compete, use of the ice and quality of goaltending then I bet puck possession does pick the winner 9 times out of 10. But when one team has the puck possession but is always taking it to the outside away from the danger areas and willingly gives up possession if threatened with contact, it means zilch to dominate on faceoffs and puck possession.

My understanding is that it was not called a goal on the ice. The only time we saw the puck over the line is after the play was over when Bob got up and the puck slide over the goal line.

I'm more frustrated to be honest because I think the Leafs actually played well enough to win basically every single game of this series but Bobrovsky was the difference maker and unfortunately Woll wasn't able to be a brick wall for us. We just needed to score more than 2 goals per game, needed Matthews to chip in a few goals this series, and it could have easily been Leafs in 5 here.

Is it just me but I wish I would see more passion, more anger, more bite, more fight!! I didn’t see anything like that from our veterans Tavares Oreilly Schenn, and what I mean by that is between the players… not using that anger against the refs. If I were Tavares I’d be snapping on the bench, right up Mathews and Marners ass, but he probably can’t because he doesn’t lead by example. Remember Mackinnon with Bedard last year, I want to see raw emotions between the group. I recall about 5 weeks ago when Maurice laid into his team at scotiabank arena, changed their season at that point.

I’d rather see a post game interview like Rick Bowness, anger especially after 4 years of this. Instead we see Dubas fighting with drunk fans and water bottles, keefe jawing at the refs.

Anyone feel the same

So it was a goal…..

It was obviously a goal from the second Rielly started celebrating. Players arent stupid they know when they score.

This was a fake ass win. And I wish players were more vocal about the non call instead of "it is what it is". Christ, the lack of balls to speak up really pisses me off.

That's the playoffs for you.

I'm sure Tampa fans were saying the same thing after the Leafs beat them.

Goal 1 PP, Holl with the half ass block attempt, gotta get your body down.
Goal 2 turnover in neutral zone 3v2
Goal 3 turnover ozone 3v2 going other way

We played undisciplined as usual.

That's it. I feel bad for the fans.

Blow it all up (keep Willy and Rielly) and find players who have passion, heart, and show up in pivotal moments. Nothing else to say.
I feel bad for the fans, Morgan Rielly and Woll.
If I could get rid of 2 of the 4 forwards (not Nylander) I would.

Got ridiculed for predicting all of this but I'm totally depressed I ended up right. I wish I was being called out for being a stupid hater.

I hate how emotionally involved I am with this team. I feel like somebody died today. f*** that. It's time to distance myself. They no longer deserve this level of loyalty.

I Know everyone wants to blow it up…but I can’t visualize a single trade that is going to make the leafs better over the next few years. Outside of moving the impossible Tavares contract major changes are coming but so is a major drop in the standings. See what the next chapter brings. Bring on more pain.

Don't you think TOR are stuck with Tavares? If he's healthy and contributing at a 0.850 ppg rate, the next coach/gm will play him. He's not ideal. I understand that, but haven't we put to bed that Tavares is likely here until he retires?

JT is a great guy, but overpaying him AND giving him C was a bad move.

There is no sense of urgency, Marner and Matthews are not as responsible for the results as they should be, because on paper this is John Tavares's team.

I understand arguments for not giving C to Matthews at the time, but we had a team full of young star players who thought this was their team and we sign JT and gave him C.

We needed this to be Matthews and Marners team.

Of course, we had to overpay for hurting their feelings. Unfortunately, we are still paying for it.
JT is a great $ 6 mill player on an $ 11 mill contract.

Matthews and Marner just need to outplay Tavares in their eyes to justify their contract, at the same time, they don't have C, barely responsible for the overall outcome.

I mean Mitch played like a man possessed - trying to get that 100 points. Afraid to get hurt in playoffs.

I think at this point it's needed. This core is great regular season players but disappear a lot in the playoffs.

Pretty much agree.

Resign accari kampf as well. Hell even ZAR who I hate played wel early on he can be the 13F and lafferty can resign for cheap.

I’m just the most torn at 34. Best leaf well ever see and he has no heart. (No Sundin is not better. Yes I watched every game of his). I don’t know what we could get in a return that would make me trade 34 even though he’s a loser.
Lafferty has another year

5-5 with average to mediocre metrics is what we were doing since the deadline. Florida has been hot with amazing metrics since the deadline (more emphasis on us being a .500 team by identity now)

You all saw this coming but too caught up in the excitement of trades and increase in hits to take it serious. Now it's too late.

Well, it was always too late being stuck with this trash bag of a GM.

It was NOT a goal, the rule is clear, if you do not see the puck cross the line then you can’t call it, it’s impossible to make a good goal call. Biz is gas lighting a vulnerable fan base. Remember Points goal in game 3 rd 1, those calls usually even out. That angle doesn’t clearly show the puck in, if Panthers had that play called a goal we would be losing our minds.
The gudas play was a veteran play, there was missed calls both ways, only calls made would have been clear cut penalties, it sucks but they shouldn’t have put themselves in a 3-0 hole. The breaks we got in the Tampa series weren’t going to continue, and this team didn’t take advantage, out of the 11 games they played well enough to win maybe 3 or 4, not enough to win 2 playoff series, 1-5 at home, Marner Mathews tavares nylander 3 goals in rd 2??? Cmon

That goal was in! During the game they kept showing it going in after the goalie had freezed it for a long time and I was like "yeah that's probably the right call." But the original shot went in! The original shot! Morgan got ripped off. By the way, start an online petition Leafs nation to make Captain Morgan a reality.

Every goal is from a mistake. Woll was fine, but goal #1 wasnt a good one. The other 2 were off Lily mistakes
