Oh get real. All that money for someone who did squat and just as likely will spend most of the season on the IR.:shakehead

Likely spend most of the season on IR? 36 points with 3rd line minutes is doing squat? I don't think I'm the one who needs to get real.

Forget it. No need to get nasty on my part. Paying guys like this big bucks to help us win a game of two is very short sighted. IMHO

More than what I can say about Frattin's impact on the team. Win a game or two? Not likely. I thought the objective was to pick the 23 players gave the best chance to get the teams the most wins. Apparently, it's not.

Its clear as day this is the, play the kids get a good top notch draft pick year. They clearly don't care and I don't blame them either. It's the best year to do it.

I am so sick of the constant treadmill of mediocrity this team has been on. Obviously you would wish it to continue. I am not the only one who feel this way. And so far the GM agrees with us. We shall see what the future brings. I am betting they will play more interesting hockey with younger legs in the lineup anyway. If they lose more ... well as far as I am concerned its ... win - win!

TC's not a horrible player but only a freaking idiot GM would think a soft C would mesh well with a soft winger . TC also doesn't fit the mold of a 3rd liner and with Grabo as our 2nd line C there was no place for him .

Do you understand we finished 26th with him last year ? Do you understand that continuing to bring back the same players that failed to produce the previous year and expecting different results is insane ?

If want to nitpick Nonis because your upset about Burkie being fired that's fine but i'd wait for something bigger to break his balls about than a career underachiever like Timmy .

Who knows maybe you're just trying to be a pain in the butt to prove a point because people like myself had no time for that piece of crap former GM of ours .

Hopefully they can pawn Grabo's contract off on some sucker GM, if that's the case.

Then why are you embracing a mediocre (at best) 25 year old prospect, who is worse in nearly every way than a 31 year old vet?

As far as I am concerned they can waive Frattin too. Hell I would give a team Frattin to take that chump off our books.

There are tons of players who failed to produce last year. Kulemin, Frattin, MacArthur, Connolly, Lombardi, Franson, etc.

Carlyle said a few days ago that the training camp is the process to select the 23 best players from the roster. This is clearly not the case. I don't believe this was a Nonis move.

This dude is not even trying to understand any point another is making. He is just being an argumentative -----. Good night. Is there a ignore feature on this board. Going to be my first use of it.

You said you would pay a team to take Frattin from us. I don't blame him

Kadri doesn't fit the mold of a Carlyle player at all really, maybe he will fit in. Frattin is sturdy and potentially a good player but has not had ANY finishing touch at the NHL level. Komarov your guess is good as mine. Brown, a guy who skates fast gets no points and is a middleweight (redundant), Steckel a big guy that doesn't use his size all to much but has a knack for the faceoff and intercepting passes between the points on the pk. Bozak is just a 3rd line C playing with star players and gets by riding the gravy train. Colborne, who the heck knows if he can convert to the NHL, I am not sure he can.

Now all that said, Tim Connolly is the best hockey player out of that bunch. Sadly he was injured a lot and seemed to lose heart mid season when Wilson started throwing him here there and everywhere.

Worst Coach the leafs ever had.

TC did alright, but I was expecting a stronger season from him. It's nice to see Kadri getting full time minutes however.

I am expecting something similar to Grabs first year. Kadri tends to fall a lot and although he has nice hands that doesn't = point production. I hope he does well, feel he will do well and not be what we are looking for for this team and be traded.

Not true. I said that I would give up Frattin to get rid of Connolly. I was overstating my point of course.

I do have great disdain for the play of Connolly and greater contempt for the idiotic treadmill teams that the parade of GM's we have had, have created. I am so disheartened that I am sceptical that Nonis will "do it right".

Although I can't agree that RW was the worst coach we've ever had (Dan Maloney takes those honours), I do agree and believe TC's talent was wasted while he was here and healthy - too bad, I really hoped with his slick hands that he was just the setup guy Phil needed to hit 50.

Anyhow, if he doesn't clear waivers, I wish him well - he's better off elsewhere than playing in the A.

tsn radio - connolly had a meeting with randy c.
connolly wanted to be a scorer
randy wanted him to be a checker

I swear in Conns interview he said he'd play any role that Randy have him? Lol. Oh well, Kadri is much better anyways

I agree with the majority of your post but you don't build a team by judging the pieces on an individual basis . One of the problems we've had is the players don't fit well as a group . Overall we're small and soft and sometimes a skilled player like TC will lose his spot to a lesser skilled player because he brings more than just offense .

TC's main problem is he needs big grinding wingers to be effective in all 3 zones . He's a smart/skilled player but he's soft and he'll never team well with another soft player like Kessel and since PK isn't going anywhere that bumps him off the first line .

Burke resigned Grabo to a big deal and he looks to be cemented in the num 2 C spot so that leaves TC off the top 2 scoring lines .

He doesn't fit the mold of your typical 3rd line C and you don't want another soft winger especially on your 3rd line .

Is he worth keeping the 4th line and if you think he is then what role could he possibly serve playing 8 or so mins a night .

IMO TC lost his spot just as much to the makeup of our team as he did to his up and down play last year . This combined with coming off a 26th place finish has Nonis and the staff trying to insert younger players into the lineup to see what they can add at this level .

To be fair to Connolly I tend not to trust these things as reported. But if that is true ... well enough said.

Another great example of these fancy millionares who just want the (money) and do what they want.

It's a team sport.

With these type of human beings your team can't win. Ever.

Glad he's out. Last season I was laughing at times as watching him play the game.

Randy Carlyle Don't play.

Lupul wanted to play opposite wing, Carlyle said no. Lupul comes to Toronto plays opposite wing and dominates, Carlyle says I am sorry when he gets here.

Connolly says I belong on the top line if anything, Carlyle says no you will play third, Connolly says I am not a checker, Connolly is gone. Lets see how this one pans out, I agree with Connolly's self assessment if true.

Just to add, I would move Grabs up and Connolly with the bigger forwards.

Grabs was bumped up a few times last season - between he and PK, there was not enough puck to go around - they both want it all the time.

Reminded me of Sundin and Mogilny all over again.

TC is not a checker - RC tries to turn everyone into a plumber with his defensive philosophy. If we're not playing some variation of a modified trap by midseason, I'll be shocked.
