I think my biggest problem with the whole firing, is that people like me were saying these things to you when Burke was in charge, and now that Nonis is running the ship and following the plan that he and Burke had before, we're being told to embrace the future we already have embraced...

This is all off-topic now, and I apologize, but I gotta say that it's frustrating to see all of the people who have been attacking this plan that's been in place for the past 3-4 years start praising the new guy and using Nonis as a way to detract from Burke, the guy who put that plan in place to begin with.

I feel like Jacobim Mugatu watching people use Le Tigre as a way to say Blue Steel sucks...

My biggest problem witht the Burke supporters is how they kept changing " the plan " to suit there defense of Burke . Burkes " Plan " was an excellerated retool which failed . Every summer he tried to tweak this team and all his moves failed .

Burke was held accountable for the teams performance and the owners rightly decided he wasn't entitled to continue on with his never ending retooling .

It had to be done, and Nonis had the guts to do it. We have made room for our better players. I hope the young guys take the ball and run with it on this one, IMO they have been given a big opportunity here.

I am happy the kids get to play and could care less if we come in dead last. Its a great year to tank with this DRAFT!

In my opinion, replacing Connolly with Kadri is sideways at best.

He might do better, he might do worse.

The only way to find out what you really do have with this kid is by playing him, for better or worse.

It's correct move to make and one that should have been done last season.

Unfortunately, egos and job security get in the way of making the right moves at times.

I dont think it was Burke holding Kadri back, it was Wilson there bud. Connolly should fetch SOMETHING if Lombardi could.

Connolly is worth the cap space saved from him being waived. Looking forward to next years UFA's or being able to take on contracts in a trade.

Be honest, when you give something dont you want to get something though? I mean be realistic, he isn't the end of the world and 2nd or a 3rd would be nice to have for packages!

Burke is the one with the power to send him up or down and sign over-rated veterans to market UFA contracts.

Lombardy got something because he is only a $2 million player to Phoenix. Connolly could be worth something if we again retain almost half of his contract value and make him a $2.7 million player to another team.

I would go for that, this is a strong draft year, if we got a 2nd that would be dreamy! I don't care if Connolly has to go nor do I care if we tank, I just want to be sure we have more chips to play with come the draft (trade up down)

I agree with this. The blustery crotchety old guy was in over his head. He failed large mainly out of the gate....I think he thought the team was like Anaheim..he was going to add a few veteran pieces(beauchemin/komi) a superstar(Kessel) and boom....yeah it was boom alright...in the wrong direction..but as time wore on he made some decent acquisitions but never any sustained team cohesion, poor leadership, glaring holes still after four years. Too little accomplished to keep his job. Especially considering the hype this guy brings.

Looks like we have a normal GM here in Toronto now.

And if we're lucky, he'll make it about the team and winning, and not about his personal reputation.

Yeah and even if he sucks like Burkie..at least we dont have to listen to his dumba$$ sanctimonious press conferences. It is refreshing to see these guys get shipped outta town..absolutely marvelous. I hope more to follow...would be nice to see guys like Kadri Frattin getting regular minutes. About time. Leafs are going nowhere this year. Luongo is wrong. Best draft in quite a few years. Leafs are rebuilding. They should be smart and take advantage.

hmm after finding a quarter should i get it by picking it up from the ground or leave 2 dimes and nickel and then pick the quarter?

anyways..

hmm, Connolly placed on waivers ?

anyways

That's what I was told last year by a certain someone here for not wanting to sign him
So much for quarter and dimes!!

Another Burkie free wallet which turned out to be empty.

Man, the man had magic fingers when it came to trades (notwithstanding...) but could not sign a decent FA to save his life.
