Yeah and even if he sucks like Burkie..at least we dont have to listen to his dumba$$ sanctimonious press conferences. It is refreshing to see these guys get shipped outta town..absolutely marvelous. I hope more to follow...would be nice to see guys like Kadri Frattin getting regular minutes. About time. Leafs are going nowhere this year. Luongo is wrong. Best draft in quite a few years. Leafs are rebuilding. They should be smart and take advantage.

Agreed. I'm completely against Burke, but I'm not blinded enough to ignore the advances he made during his tenure here.

The team is much better, going forward, than it was 4 years ago. Luongo is a bad idea and this year is going to be a good measuring stick on every aspect of this team. :)

Well Dave is certainly winning over the fans with his eliminations. Let's hope his eventual acquisitions will be also met with such favor.

It's great. Nonis just waives the guy. We don't have to listen to something like Burke did when he waived Orr last season. No emotional tirade about how the NHL is full of rats and how this means unmotivated glassmen like Connolly can't play anymore.

With 75% chances of not getting it if they finish last...

They should have implemented a no repeat 1st overall rule from the get go. If you get the first last year the lowest you should be able to get is 5th the next. Just way to much incentive to tank the way it is, even now.

Atta boy Nonis , keep clearing out Burkes trash .

While i'm not crazy about using one of our 2 buyouts on an expiring contract when we don't need the cap space , i'm also not crazy about trash like TC chewing up rosters spots that can be better served by playing guys like Kadri .

Best case senerio once he clears is to just send him to the minors that way we keep our 2 non cap buyouts .

This is not a Gomez/Redden situation as his contract ends this year, as you are aware.

They're hoping that someone will bite, not now (nobody is that desesperate) but in a month or so, when they put him on recall waiver (if such a thing still exists with the new CBA).

I'm sure Connolly can put the kibosh on that by getting injured in his first game with the Marlies.

Source on whether the #leafs intend to pursue an accelerated buyout for Tim Connolly. "Hasn't been discussed."

Reporter Chris Johnston, you've just proven to the world that you don't know what you're talking about... His contract ends this year. So it cannot be a Gomez/Redden situation.

Whats the new rules on that? Everyone gets a shot at 1st, but what about 2-14?

The % of winning are the same as before, just that the team that wins can move all the way up instead of just a maximum of 4 spots like before.

Heres last years lottery for reference of %

25.0% - Columbus Blue Jackets - 65 points
18.8% - Edmonton Oilers - 74 points
14.2% - Montreal Canadiens - 78 points
10.7% - New York Islanders - 79 points
8.1% - Toronto Maple Leafs - 80 points
6.2% - Anaheim Ducks - 80 points
4.7% - Minnesota Wild - 81 points
3.6% - Carolina Hurricanes - 82 points
2.7% - Winnipeg Jets - 84 points
2.1% - Tampa Bay Lightning - 84 points
1.5% - Washington Capitals (from Colorado) - 88 points
1.1% - Buffalo Sabres - 89 points
0.8% - Dallas Stars - 89 points
0.5% - Calgary Flames - 90 points

More eliminations required. First things first.

Isn't that the mantra of the person in your avy?

That's what I figured. Thanks.

However, I believe there are windows for regular buy-outs, and I'm not sure there is an open window right now.

The window was from June 15 to June 30 under the expired CBA (which was still in force last June).

Exception: 48 hours following an arbitration decision (again, under old CBA).

Is Connolly really impossible to trade? I don't understand why we put him on waivers. He's only under contract for one more year, you'd think that a team will pick him up like Vancouver or Chicago.

I don't understand this.

They probably could send him and a 3rd for a 5th.

Basic concept of negative value.

I don't understand this.

They're likely hoping someone takes him off waivers so they dont have to keep part of his cap hit like with Lombardi.

If hes not taken, then they'll look more into trades.

I understood that the odds were the same, except for the last-placed teams which goes from 48.1% to 25% because the winner gets #1 rather than advance 4 spots.

I assume that if #10 wins it, it becomes #1, and 1-9 becomes 2-10.

PS: Just saw that someone else explained it...

My biggest problem witht the Burke supporters is how they kept changing " the plan " to suit there defense of Burke . Burkes " Plan " was an excellerated retool which failed . Every summer he tried to tweak this team and all his moves failed .

Burke was held accountable for the teams performance and the owners rightly decided he wasn't entitled to continue on with his never ending retooling .

What exactly is considered an "accelerated retool" in acquiring a 21 year old 30+ goal scorer? He stuck with obtaining young players who could make an impact 5-10 years down the road. Used temporary stopgaps for roles he couldn't fill with young players (Grabo, Lupul, Komisarek, Connolly, etc).

I still can't phantom how Frattin is on the roster and Connolly, who brings much more to the table, is not. Is it because Frattin inadvertently collides with random players and topples them over due to his size?

-19 (Lombardi) and -14 (Connolly)

Take away -ve and things get more +ve.

Since you can't use him/them to match up against top lines in a checking role, someone else is going to take those negatives.

Oh get real. All that money for someone who did squat and just as likely will spend most of the season on the IR.:shakehead
