Damn it feels good to be up 3-2, it's been so long I'd forgotten how good this feels. Of course the fact that it has been so damn long is probably a big part of why it feels so good, I'm just not used to it.

Please finish them off tomorrow night, then this good feeling can last a while longer. If we should lose I will just be one huge bundle of nerves until Saturday night and I don't need the stress!
Leafs were up 3-2 on Montreal last year, ;)

That quick turn by Tavares and Cernak faceplanted. Captain broke his ankles.

(Imagine that was Holl faceplanting like that to let up the tying goal.)
He’d be tarred and feathered and left in maple leafs square to think about his mistake.

Glad to get a win, but the question has never been whether this team can take a lead in a series. The question is whether or not they can close it out. Just like last year and Boston two years prior, game 6 is ours to close out. I sure don't feel great about a game 7, because then the old doubts will creep in.

Great game last night boys, now close 'er out. Prove that this year IS different.

Please win the next one so we can all stop hearing from this meathead.

Yeah Jon... Leafs didn't earn it. You guys are so good but you just let us have it.... f*** all the way off.

That was nice of them after keeping the leafs to 6 shots during the first half of the game.

We just saw a historical leafs game. Years later we are going to tell our grandkids about the times big players came up big in important games. This generation, we never really had one of those yet. I mean yeah, before this year, the Matthews core had won 13 playoff games, and you can't do that unless you've done some things well and some things right. But there was nothing so dramatic, so gutsy, so heavily dependent on our stars making a clutch play at just the right time. Probably the most dramatic, memorable (positive) playoff moment the Matthews core had given us was the brilliant overtime pass from Boyle to Kapanen*.

Gilmour gave us so many memories. Clark did. Sundin did. f***ing Stumpy Steve Thomas did! Now, finally, Matthews and Marner did.

*and you'll say, hey, what about the comeback vs. Columbus? But all they really did was make up for snoozing through 56 minutes so I don't really count that.
They have to close the deal first, but i get you. I hope this is their 'Alomar-home-run-off-Eckersley' moment.

This is just 1 game. It will mean nothing if they don't close this series. The closeout game is always the hardest. Need to give our best effort in game 6.

Matthew's had a huge GWG against the Bruins to take a 3-2 series lead several years back.

Nobody remembers that because of what happened the next two games.

That was the most physical game that I've ever seen Matthews play. I don't even think the fake Sergachev injury was his best hit. There was another one along the right wing boards that sounded like a thunder bolt on my home theater system. It startled my youngest.
Matthews was unbelievable. He's become such a complete player. Nice to see him rewarded with the GWG.

so, what's the statute of limitations on changing the official scorer of a goal? Because JT did not touch that one.

Yes he did?
I didn't think he did last night but I just watched the replay about 10 times and now I'm almost positive that it did indeed go in off his skate. It's hard to tell though boy, you need to have just the right camera angle.

Beating Tampa will be partly amazing just to wait and see what this arrogant prick has to say about losing to the lowly Make-be-leafs.

Gotta say...it feels so good this morning, definitely best leaf playoff victory to date.....hopefully we can finally put the nail in the coffin on Thursday.

This team has always been in their own way, even yesterday the way they played that first period was scared, tenative, low energy, low confidence. Then they started to turn it on and they were pretty much unstoppable. I'm praying that game yesterday was the turning point for this group, but we shall see.

Sadly this is true.

After that comeback against the Jackets I thought the series was in the bag. Core 4 went berserk in the final 7 minutes and toyed with them. Could feel a shift in the air that the real Leafs have finally arrived.

So it's false to claim last night was something new from the core 4.

From a fan perspective boasting is fine though. It's the playoffs and it was an emotional entertaining win, enjoy the party. From a message board all-business perspective.....channel your inner Kobe's. This isn't done yet.

Not me, that just felt so fluky.

As far as this series goes, two pretty evenly matched teams and it could still go either way. We definitely have the upper hand though, sure hope we can close it out. I'm just so happy today, I wonder how happy I will be if we end up taking this? I want to know damn it!

GLG!!!!!!!!!!!
