Theyre out there, you just have to pay a premium like TB did with Hagel

And do we really want Hagel? He is good this year, but he wasn't all that useful last year for Tampa. He is effectively Bunting.

And if that is the standard, then give our young guys more of a chance... like we gave Bunting a chance.

GMs of consistently top-tier teams are rarely fired, much less in this short of time, much less for the reasons people want to fire Dubas for. You should never base GM decisions exclusively on playoff series wins and losses. It's a lazy way to operate a team.
Lmao isn't this just special

And when this rare occasion does happen... what is the culprit of such thing happening?

Stop being delusional, we would be better off with someone who had recent playoff success like Marc Bergevin. Playoff results are all that matters.
Indeed they are.

Take the team we lost to tonight for example. George McPhee built the Caps into a perennial contender yet the Caps refused to renew his contract. Funny enough they actually did better in the playoffs than us up to each team's respective point in time.

Well said. Our team wasn’t quite good enough to edge out Boston, and we all know last year VS the Bolts was a coin toss.
Columbus and Montreal were Gaffes but hey what the hell. It seems like this team can finally play the proper way.

As many other have pointed out, we would be second or third round if it were not for this killer division with Boston and Tampa being Finalists for years and years.

Keefe hasn’t lost the room yet and the team has learned something. I hope it shows in the playoffs, and I think we can all safely say it’s good that we didn’t gut the head office and team YET.
Being in a killer division is irrelevant . The other teams that make it a “killer” division advance in the playoffs and have the players to do it…….why not us.

Another Bunting level player needs to be the expectation and is also a huge upgrade on the current options.

Knies may give more options to either slot there himself or fill in on the Kamp line allowing Engvall or Kerfoot to jump up.

Feels like Robertson has fumbled a few chances and i dont know what other young options exist.

They made a few mistakes and the goaltending wasn’t able to bail them out this time.

 I think we've all reached a point of acceptance that the regular season doesn't really matter so we're all just waiting for that two week period in April to see what this team really is.

But I just try to enjoy the regular season for fun hockey to watch. I mean if you don't, you would have not being able to really love Matthews' MVP season last year or Marner's franchise record point streak this year. Their lack of playoff success will always be a black eye on their legacy but you're probably not going to watch more talents players wear a Leaf jersey in your lifetime.
Hopefully not always. I've enjoyed the season so far but I would enjoy whatever we do in the regular season more if it wasn't for all those playoff losses. Talent is always fun to watch, but it's more fun to win!

I wasn't paying close attention last night, but was it really that bad as many are saying? I did see a TON of great scoring chances that we had, could easily have had 5-6 goals, was just one of those nights from what I did see.

Only the 5th page of comments? I have to check the results again, maybe it was just a bad dream and we didn't lose after all?

Lindgren has been solid for the Caps after Kuemper got hurt.

Leafs owned the second period but he came up huge.

Matthews goal was deflected as well.

I honestly didn’t think we looked all that bad. Second period we had the pick the entire time. Some MASSIVE defensive lapses and bad giveaways again though. Didn’t think the Marner JT line played well, seemed to get caved in all game. Bottom 6 looked pretty good again. Holmberg play continues to be encouraging. And an unfortunate stinker from Sammy.
yes, well summarized, you watched the same game I did.

We were the superior team but simply got out-goalied and the bounces went the other way.

What appeared to be letting up at the end was simple discouragement at having thrown our best at a goalie without results.

Yes, not Marner or JTs best game.

Sandin is mercurial; outstanding at exiting the zone at times combined with blaring mistakes-Lilligren is the steadier of the two

untill there are playoff results dubas will and should not be extended. Period!
Loyalty is a two-way street, if you're not going to show it to your players, coaches and FO personnel don't get mad when Matthews does the same.

Team over individuals
Competence over stupidity
Common Sense over simp like behavior

Period!

Playoff success or BUST
- Individuals comprise the team
- You prefer Burke and Nonis and Ron Wilson and Randy Carlyle's Leafs over Keefe's? Good to know
- Simp like behaviour is following a team despite them continuously letting you down.

This team is better with Matthews and Marner on it than without them. Keefe is more successful and than any "proven" coach the Leafs have had in the last 20 years. Dubas is lightyears better than the Leaf GM's of the past.

Change for the sake of change is stupid

...What are you trying to ask?

McPhee was GM of Washington for 17 years despite never winning a Cup, and was only fired after the team missed the playoffs in 2013-2014. That doesn't really help your argument.
When you have 6 first round losses in a row you certainly have to take into GM decisions
Our GM doesn't have 6 first round losses in a row. Despite outplaying the opponent the majority of the time, the team has four playoff losses by the tiniest of margins under this GM - 3 to a Cup finalist - for reasons that really have nothing to do with the GM or much relevance moving forward. There has to be purpose behind decisions like this. Changing the GM doesn't change what happened in those series, and firing a good GM because of it is likely to just make things worse in future ones.

Either you move forward or you don't. Life is short. I want to see this team win. If Dubas can't get it done FIRE HIS ASS

if Matthtews doesn't wanna re-sign thats fine too

Rebuild and move "Forward"

In the years since Matthews and Marner have been in the league, there are teams that made the 2nd round and also won cups which did not have Matthews or Marner on them.

TEAM>Individuals
COMPETENCE>Stupidity
Common Sens>Simps like behavior

RESULTS or GET OUT

Meaningless cliche. If Matthews doesn't wanna re-sign, that might be "fine" with you but it's certainly not the ideal way to move forward.

6~ weeks of amazing play followed by 2 losses and you're losing your mind already? Go sleep it off or something, geez Louise.

to sign one player you want to retain a GM whos is incompetent?

thanks no thanks

dubas wins couple rounds he gets to stay or he can find job somewhere else.

Leafs got out goaltended last night.

I just re-watched the condensed game and if you didn't know the score, and didn't see the goals you'd think the Leafs were running away with it.

Two horrible goals given up by Samsonov. I don't give him a break on the bouncer, some might, but I think he should have had that space covered.
