Post-Game Talk: Leafs are not better without Rielly

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Over reactions incoming. If this team went 81-1 you would still have people whining about one or two off games. Shit happens.

Prepare for Tampa
Cmon
Only if you overreact to the score and our record
But this effort and pushback and lameness and wilting is not an overreaction to a pro hockey team that’s lost in the first round since forever and that has aspirations of cups ..
Listen even Boston loses
But when they do they don’t ever play like this

Rielly probably wouldn't have made a difference in this game. Anyways can't win them all. I'll only start worrying if we begin to head towards a Devils type of losing streak where they're in danger of losing 5 straight.

I honestly didn’t think we looked all that bad. Second period we had the pick the entire time. Some MASSIVE defensive lapses and bad giveaways again though. Didn’t think the Marner JT line played well, seemed to get caved in all game. Bottom 6 looked pretty good again. Holmberg play continues to be encouraging. And an unfortunate stinker from Sammy.

It’s the way we are playing that’s worrisome and especially when it was still a game

Capitals wanted it more. Leafs had some sustained pressure at times that if they had cashed in early it might have altered the outcome.

Their attention to defense was lacking, they were outhit by more than 2-1, out shot-blocked nearly 2-1. Essentially Caps used the book that the league has on the Leafs that has not been working as often this year, but did tonight and could very well still work in a playoff series unless we improve.

BTW, Matthews was a +1, for all the unfair "when will Matthews break out" posts we see from time to time. If the entire team played like Matthews, we'd already have had some playoff success IMO.

That is my hot take for tonight.

Big mistakes, lots of careless play. Feels like a team coming off a big run of good games

Sure but its been one relatively bad game from the Leafs in such a long time. Shouldn't get too worried over it unless it becomes a trend and the Leafs have a few more games like this.

We were in the game until 10 seconds into an ugly 3rd.

Thx
It’s been slowly a trend since the Stars game and when our goaltending has kept us in covering up our slide

Sammy was in christmas spirit and gave some generous gifts to his former to team, thats pretty much it...

Suddenly Keefe doesn't like Sandin, Lily or Brodie on a power play....
That drop back pass is bs from Marner 1/3rd of the ice back to AM looks like 12 yr olds. Slows the rest of the players.
