Haven’t bought anything Leafs related in probably 3-4 years after the few first round exits. Told myself not going to financially support at all until they win a round or change the direction of the team from pure skilled individuals to an actual team. Estatic with the win, love the trade deadline additions and that Dubas realized we needed to adjust our game.

I bet tampa game 5, bet heavy leafs game 6. Time to buy my boys and wife some leafs jerseys! Knies will be one for sure.

Cheers to everyone it’s been a really long time to feel like this as Leafs fans.

More mobile but just a tad bit under Muzzin defensively IMO

You gotta remember Muzzin did amazing work against Tampa last year in that series too.

But McCabe at the price we have him at - wow that's a steal.

Wonder what @Mess would think about that
Ya they are close defensively too. Of how nice would it have been to have them both?

I think Willie needs to improve on Dzone coverage and Dzone IQ. He is great, if he is engage, when back checking and chasing but he lacks Dzone coverage IQ without the puck.

2 more yrs at 2 mil at half the cost of Jeannot, lol
agreed, its just an effort thing, not an ability thing, so it can be fixed. post season is a different animal, mistakes will be made but u always gotta make the extra effort which he has been guilty of not doing a decent amount so far. but always time to change...go leafs!

Oh god that would have been amazing.

I still want Florida because of home ice.

.. also I’ve gotten last to solid reffing in these last few games, and that won’t happen against the B’s.
Game 1 was the best thing to ever happen to the officiating.

The David Frost - Keefe story going viral and Wes McCauley officiating and having his bullshit called out widely by social media.

Seems like this put a much, much bigger spotlight on officiating and the league didn't like it at all. All of a sudden we had decent officiating the rest of the series.

while i agree knies played part, he was outnumbered 3 to 1 on the boards while willy was floating around waiting to fly the zone on offense, he was literally skating out of the zone while 2 TB forwards were in alone with 1 leafs defenseman. if willy actually plays some defense there and stays in to make sure the puck gets out i doubt TB scores there.
Tampa has 3 high and Willy is in fine position for the D he's supposed to cover. Hes not flying the zone or close to it.

Gus stays low and doesnt get back to the net. Looks like hes cheating on a downlow chip. Hes RD on that pair, switches on the reverse and gets beat to the net. Willy and Matthews both dont notice the mistake, which creates the 2on1 downlow. Everyone else on the ice besides Gus has a man, and its arguably their man (Gio would typically pickup Stamkos, but he grabs Killorn because Gus gets beat).

Willy's an easy target because of history and proximity, but really its Knies turnover and Gus positioning that cause the GA

Sheldon Keefe is now the only person alive today who has coached the Toronto Maple Leafs to a playoff series win.

Youtube wasn't a thing.

Facebook wasn't a thing.

Smart phones were not a thing.

For those who think we are overreacting...they don't know. They just don't know.

he's also the first guy not named Pat to coach the leafs to a series win since 1987

Not too far fetch to think that your team can't be the Habs of 1993. OT's prowess. A little luck to see teams ahead be eliminated. Great overall play. I mean, if Panthers win...then if Jersey move on...and let say Dallas is eliminated in the West....this could very well be THE year to win it all.....

Once that 1st round exit pressure is gone....who says that this team won't be way more relax. It,s really unchartered territory...and frankly, you fans have a LOT of reasons to hope for much more than this. Exciting times.

lol, nylander is literally skating the opposite direction of stamkos.

meh im not gonna argue over a game we won.
have a good one.

Request here.

Can someone generate a video meme with Beetlejuice saying "me, nothing, just hanging around" with the Scotiabank Arena background and caption "When you ask the Leafs what they're doing in the 2nd round?"

Can't figure it out on my own.

Thanks in advance

I think the Leafs are a better playoff team on the road because they play more disciplined.

I want Boston and they can have home ice advantage. Not because we have a better chance of beating them, but because it would be so much more meaningful.

If we face Boston and pull off the upset by winning the series, it would be massive for the psyche of this team and the fan base.

Youre right, Willy isnt skating with Stamkos, but thats also not his man in that situation. All 3 forwarda are tracking high because TB has 3 players high in thr zone.

You dont have to argue, but you also dont have to make things up like "Willy was flying the zone", he covering the LD, which is his role there

he was exiting the zone and stopped imo, whichever...i never blamed him alone as clearly theres many factors but people saying it was on others like knies while not including him given what actually happened wasnt fair. thats all i am defending.

in the playoffs i dont really believe in things like "that wasnt his man" if u see a player alone going to the front of the net maybe u need to adjust your plan and cover the most dangerous player at that moment. especially a 60 goal scorer in the 3rd period of a game u are up 1 goal trying to go to the 2nd round for the first time in your career lol

I don't think it would be much of an upset. Leafs are not some cinderella team. I see people crowning Boston way too much. Their top 2 C are in their late 30s, Ullmark/Swayman are unproven in the playoffs. Hall is not scary. Pasta has not been that impressive against Florida.

Unreal result. Multiple elimination game goals from core players and key saves from a mentally stable goalie goes a long way.

A lot of the TDL acquisitions paid huge dividends. The ROR trade outcome had an asterisk for me based entirely on the post-season and he's clearly been the most impactful add in a long time. Retaining him should be priority #1.

Finally focused on making this team harder to play against and capable of hanging with the more physical teams in the league. McCabe, Acciari, Schenn, ROR neutralized one of Tampa's few advantages and here we are. The battle level has been refreshing to watch and is necessary to go all the way. They're capable of winning any series this year and can matchup against basically any style of opponent.

Fair enough, i do agree he could have picked up after the other mistakes and miscues, but hes down my list of concerns there
