PK did fine without Holl yesterday and that was with our regular penalty killers in the box (Schenn and then Brodie)
I agree, just saying if Keefe goes 11/7, Holl might come back in, otherwise, I don’t see him getting back in the lineup.

Another under rated moment, ROR was as excited as the others. That’s huge and it means ROR understands how much the boys wanted it and needed it.

Acquiring the additional defensive depth makes Holl less desirable anyways, especially with Schenn somehow playing maybe the best hockey of his career (at least analytically).

Even a huge Holl defender like me was calling for Lily after game one (Holl had been less and less consistent for a month before the playoffs) and even though Holl wasnt as bad as peeps were saying for games 2-4, 2 bad games was more of enough to demote him for others. Having the best depth we have ever had made it an easy choice.

Holl has a weird way of playing extremely well after being sat so Im actually not too worried if we catch an injury or two either.

Leafs played a near perfect road game. Brodie was a beast last night, his best game of the series. Rielly-Schenn so impressive.

Nothing more to be said about Rielly, but watching Schenn do his thing was cool. Reminded me a lot of his play with Canada in the wjrs before we drafted him. Strong, composed, and gets that first pass out safely and consistently. Thats saying a lot with Tampas forecheck. Nice to see.

I thought losing the faceoff battle might do us in, but that started to turn in the 3rd. O’Reilly with an off game, but thats why our depth is so key this year. We all know he’ll be better.

And Sammy… what else is there to say. Last time we won a series clinching game our goalie stole the game and was 1st star (Eddie Eddie Eddie). You need goalies to steal you games. This was the difference.

Great confidence builder that should help them hit another level. Let’s hope FLA and BOS obliderate each other tonight.

Barring any injuries, Holl should not be in a playoff game for the rest of our Leafs season !!!

We need the JT version of this

Dubas' deadline grit acquisitions in Schenn and Acciari made a notable difference this series, even when we were getting outplayed these guys were still physically punishing Lightning players. In fact Dubas' deadline in hindsight is looking insanely good right now.
McCabe has been a beauty too, he gets tasked with some really hard minutes and he’s been a beast for us back there

Good morning to the couple dozen guys and girls that were on this site the last time the Leafs won a playoff series before last night, and are still kicking around!
The cool thing for me is I was around back then but drafting Luke Schenn is what made me decide to finally make a username. Jan, 2008 after the WJ's and I was in love with him. I drove to the draft cause I had to see it in person.

Rewatching the game, that first penalty where Schenn touches Stamkos on the arm and he acts like he was hit in the face... Maybe that is why they didn't call the later embellishment for the slight stick tap near the ear?

Or the thousands of other embellishments they've done. I would bet about half the penalties we got weren't even actual penalties going back to last year's series. I would guess less than 10% of ours were due to any embellishment on a nothing play.

Funny as ever to see the mainboards go on about Knies, when he actually was clipped in the face. They somehow don't understand how a stick can come up under your arm and hit your face lol, but either way it's the proper call if they didn't call that one.

I am old enough to see them win their last Stanley Cup and i think this is the happiest i have ever been. I am going to get so friggin drunk tonight. Sammy was a stud tonight. GO LEAFS GO. 12 MORE.
I wasn't old enough to drink when they won in '67, although I did enjoy a couple of scotch with my Dad watching the '72 summit series.

Beer for now, but I have a bottle of 25 year old scotch that was barrelled in '67 that I will open when we win the Cup.

As far as the high stick on Hagel every complainer can eat shit and shut up unless they have posts bemoaning the ghost high-stick on Kampf last game 6 in Tampa. It all balances out.
Hit him on the back of the helmet and he collapsed holding his face. Good non-call.

I can’t wait to see what this team looks like in Round 2 with all that pressure of past failures for this core in round 1 finally gone. I have a feeling this is just the start of a long run my friends
If it isn't Boston that we face, I'll have to ask a Bruin fan how it feels to back a choker. As a Leaf fan, I have no understanding of that.

I'm never going to forget last night, was playing a show with one of my bands, place was sold out and we had the game running on a projector behind the stage, plan was to start our set after the third period so we started playing during the OT, I was rocking my Matthews jersey and had my head on a swivel to keep looking at that projector, I was actually one of the first to notice that the Leafs scored, started absolutely going crazy on stage and then the whole place erupted and then the city was aliveee afterwards such an amazing night! Proud of the boys, can't wait to finally watch my team in the 2nd round!! I was too young in 2004, wasn't watching sports back then. Go Leafs Go!!!

And I'm just being honest, I don't think the leafs can beat the best regular season team in NHL history in round 2 so I'm cheering for a Florida miracle victory tonight. Why is that bad?
Florida is taking them to seven right before our eyes. If the Bruins win, why would you think we have no shot?
And Nylander in no man's land for some reason. I have no idea what the hell he was doing on that play...

My old man kept blaming Gio for not taking both Killorn and Stamkos on the play.
Nylander may have anticipated we'd get possession because we had 3v2 along the boards.
FINALLY! Now the team can play pressure less hockey moving on forward, and hopefully do some damage.
Maybe less pressure because of recent history, but there will definitely be pressure from game to game.

I'm giving him the edge on Muzzin. Both are great but McCabe seems more mobile
More mobile but just a tad bit under Muzzin defensively IMO

You gotta remember Muzzin did amazing work against Tampa last year in that series too.

But McCabe at the price we have him at - wow that's a steal.

How hilarious will it be winning a series with Samsonov after all the talk about our goaltending....if the Bruins turn around and lose their series tonight because their goaltender with no playoff expierence has turned into a sieve.
Wonder what @Mess would think about that
