I still want Florida because of home ice.

.. also I’ve gotten last to solid reffing in these last few games, and that won’t happen against the B’s.

Good points. I forgot about home ice. Then again, we got 3 of 4 wins in this series on the road. Maybe Keefe had a point about it taking pressure off them.

That goal was not Gus's fault. That was Knies and a bad rebound by Sammy. Gus actually played really well, provided much needed mobility back there

It's not easy for Gus and Lilly to come into a game 6 without having to play last 3 weeks
while i agree knies played part, he was outnumbered 3 to 1 on the boards while willy was floating around waiting to fly the zone on offense, he was literally skating out of the zone while 2 TB forwards were in alone with 1 leafs defenseman. if willy actually plays some defense there and stays in to make sure the puck gets out i doubt TB scores there.

Can we just give credit on TB for scoring?

Knies and Gus could had played better, Gio could had shouted instructions to Willie to stay put, Willie could had read the situation better, Sammy could had better rebound control…..or TB could had missed the net.

It's difficult to see in real time and very subtle but I'll try to explain why Gus is the main one at fault on that goal. I don't have the time or desire at the moment to take screen shots and stuff but if you watch it back carefully you should see what I'm talking about.

Puck comes up the boards to Knies, everyone is in pretty good position. There's some spacing issues as Gio should have pushed up a bit and Gus should be a bit more inside but we're in decent shape. Knies loses it but at the moment the puck is turned over we're still in pretty good shape. Here's the mistake, the moment Knies loses it Gus needs to get back to the middle and stay on the right side of his man. Instead he stands and watches, only for a moment but as he watches Killorn jumps to the middle and goes to the net. Now he's on the wrong side of his man and Killorn easily beats him to the net. Giordano is in no man's land with 2 guys rushing at the net in front of him so he decides to try and front the puck, misses leaving two guys all alone for the juicy rebound.

On just about any goal or chance against there's multiple things that go wrong that contribute and rebound control and lost puck battle by Knies certainly fall into that category on this play. But the one play that took the situation from "we're ok" to "oh shit" was Gus being on the wrong side of his man. If he reacts quicker and is in position he boxes out Killorn making him a non factor, then Gio takes Stamkos.
lol no mention of nylander literally going the wrong direction while 2 TB players go in on samsanov? gio has 2 guys to cover because nylander decided that he wasnt going to come back and make a defensive effort.

look im extremely happy, but nylander needs to take a page from papi and marner, who are both blocking shots and contributing in other ways when they are scoring. willy needs to buy in because the games are only going to get harder. in the playoffs we all know that everyone needs to step up and those mistakes can cost u a series. not the end of the world clearly since we won, but i want more lol.

edit: im just responding to the pst blaming everyone but nylander, i just wanted to point out his part in it.

PK did fine without Holl yesterday and that was with our regular penalty killers in the box (Schenn and then Brodie)
not sure about did fine, their PP looked good and Stamkos got off some really good one-timers that Liljegren couldn't get to in time.

But I'm finally onboard the "fire Holl into the sun" train after the series. We have better D and yes, he is good on the PK but he was terrible 5v5.

I think Willie needs to improve on Dzone coverage and Dzone IQ. He is great, if he is engage, when back checking and chasing but he lacks Dzone coverage IQ without the puck.

Still shake my head when I think of how cheap he came and what he’ll cost going forward.
That move alone should get Dubas GM of the Year votes.
2 more yrs at 2 mil at half the cost of Jeannot, lol

day after celebratory drinks!!!

I want to for luck but I'm hopeful if its the Panthers. If its the Bruins then I'm terrified.

I am not terrified of Boston anymore. Florida took them to 7, maybe they are not that juggernaut people portrayed them to be? They are being led by 2 top centers who are clearly not in their primes. I am not that scared of Ullmark/Swayman either. Not scared of Hall/Pasta. We can take them.
